24.01.2022 Day 29! A day at the dentist.. Strangers aren’t so bad after all!! Including kids I’m so lucky to have experienced horse people around me that can give Cherry a great first experience in all aspects! Our dentist and good friend Dale did some handling with Cherry today, resulting in giving her teeth a small clean up around the edges. I could not believe my eyes to walk around the corner and see Cherry standing there like she was an old pro. In fact she behaved the... best out of all the horses having their teeth done today! 08.01.2022 Day 39! Cherry is going well establishing some nicer balance this week and refining some bend and flexion! Until yesterday Cherry hadn’t shown any faults in her progression but now that she is feeling a bit more confident in the process of being ridden and more than likely a bit sore from using new muscles, she thought that throwing a buck into the mix was a good trick! No harm done! We addressed this issue by sending Cherry forward in the process of her trying to... buck. Making it harder for her by taking control of her feet. Today she was an absolute star! 04.01.2022 Day 78! The announcement of my withdrawal from the Australian Brumby Challenge. This has come as a sudden shock but due to personal circumstances beyond my control it was a decision that had to be made. I have put together a video of where Cherry is in her training as of today. ... She is going kinder that I could have ever imagined, she is such a trier and that is what I have enjoyed about working with her the most! She has a can do attitude once trust is established. The ABC have paired Cherry with another trainer to continue her education. They understand her high level of stranger danger that will take some time to overcome but with her solid foundation I see her making it to Equitana with no trouble! She will make someone a very reliable mount one day. Now competently working on a circle with good balance, a nice stop and correct canter leads. She opens and shuts gates, we have led other horses off her, crack whips off her, execute many obstacles and loves jumping! She can be caught out in the paddock, has wonderful ground manners and happily ties up. A true allrounder! I hope you have all enjoyed the journey thus far and I can’t thank everyone enough for their support!! Good luck to all the other trainers working their way to Equitana!
