24.01.2022 Mersey MLC Mike Gaffney talked us through the bill to be debated in parliament today, debunking some of the misconceptions doing the rounds. It's worth a listen. https://burnie.seafmtas.com.au//767/lee-jess-for-breakfast

19.01.2022 MISLEADING ADVERTISING...! Only 18 Tasmanian Health Practioners have signed the statement! Interesting to see this VAD opposing advertisement in the Mercury ...today. Although, on first glance the signatories appear to be a rather long list, it is infact 57 names long, with ONLY 18 TASMANIAN professionals listed as opposing VAD These figures are definitely in our favour One of our keen supporters Bob, has some VERY valid points here: The list of signatories at the end of the statement is in both a typeface and typestyle that clearly discourages close scrutiny. Furthermore, it is bloated by the detailed qualifications of the signatories. So how many people signed this document, and where do they come from? 57 people signed this epistle, and only 18 are from Tasmania. The bulk are from NSW (20), Victoria (10), South Australia (4), South Australia and Western Australia (2 each) and the ACT (1). And then there are the unidentified ‘medical professionals, lecturers and experts from throughout the nation’. Just what are the areas of expertise of these lecturers and experts? Furthermore, several of these people are members of religious groups so they are possibly objecting to Mike Gaffney’s proposed legislation on religious, rather than medical grounds. I also query the thinking behind those who oppose Voluntary Assisted Dying on ethical grounds. Is it ethical to force someone who’s life is clearly in its closing stages to endure the horrific agony that these ethicists would inflict upon them? Remember, many of those who have reached this horrific stage have done so because medical science has extended their normal life-span this far! 18.01.2022 "Today was a Difficult Day," said Pooh. There was a pause. "Do you want to talk about it?" asked Piglet. "No," said Pooh after a bit. "No, I don't think I do." ..."That's okay," said Piglet, and he came and sat beside his friend. "What are you doing?" asked Pooh. "Nothing, really," said Piglet. "Only, I know what Difficult Days are like. I quite often don't feel like talking about it on my Difficult Days either. "But goodness," continued Piglet, "Difficult Days are so much easier when you know you've got someone there for you. And I'll always be here for you, Pooh." And as Pooh sat there, working through in his head his Difficult Day, while the solid, reliable Piglet sat next to him quietly, swinging his little legs...he thought that his best friend had never been more right." A.A. Milne Sending thoughts to everyone having a Difficult Day today. I hope you have your own Piglet to sit beside you

12.01.2022 This is likely a long shot, but lets see if the internet can do its thing. On Sunday (13/09) our house in Ainslie Grove, South Launceston was vandalised and our... video intercom and gate access keypad were stolen. After reviewing footage it was evident the house was scoped out earlier, with the offenders getting into our locked mailbox and going through our mail. Below is a timeline of what happened: 1. Saturday 12/09 at 12.05am a single offender accessed our locked mailbox and went through our mail. The offender came from the direction of Chifley street/Gascoyne Street. After taking our mail they walk down Weedon Avenue before returning back up Weedon and walking up towards Normanstone road. 2. Saturday 12/09 at 1.45am the same single offender walks from Normanstone road back down Ainslie Grove towards Gascoyne/Chifley street. 3. Saturday 12/09 at 9.50pm the same single offender returned stealing our intercom and video camera. 4.Sunday 13/09 between 1.30am and 1.40am two offenders vandalised the front of our house before stealing our gate access keypad. I’ve attached two images of the offenders, while I understand the images aren’t the best it’s unfortunately all we have to go on. If anyone was driving by during any of these dates and times or live in the area and noticed anything your information would be very much appreciated.
