14.01.2022 First proper frost of the season this morning at around -3 and that looks like the end of the zucchinis ‘til next time #frost #korweinguboora

14.01.2022 It’s nearly May and even after a couple of frosts, these unseasonably warm days mean the tomatoes are as good as they’ve been all summer. #heirloomtomatoes #korweinguboora

12.01.2022 Good soil preparation is critical for garden success. This client applied compost several times before I planted this combination of flowering perennials in late spring and the results just 3 months later are self-evident. Some good spring rains helped as well!

12.01.2022 A good campaign that's encouraging some collective action to rid our lemon trees of the insidious gall wasp. Get pruning!

08.01.2022 When I sowed this mix of annuals back at the start of June I wasn’t sure if they’d make it through the winter with its multiple heavy frosts, but here they are 6 months later kicking some goals. Hoping they hang on for Xmas! #wildflowermeadow #opiumpoppy #chamomile #cornflower #queenanneslace

06.01.2022 As a horticulturist, I sometimes get asked what my favourite plant is. While it's tempting to be slightly pretentious and say it's something rare or difficult to grow, it's more likely to be the ever present and ever reliable Rosemary. This particular plant in our new garden would have to be the best specimen I've ever come across, having been flowering profusely since mid winter. Perhaps Blue lagoon? Fair to say I'll be taking plenty of cuttings off this one! #rosemary #bluerosemary

05.01.2022 A couple of -4C frosts this week brought a rather abrupt end to the Dahlia season! #frost

05.01.2022 While the leaves have dropped and things are shutting down, the work in the garden is only just beginning. Fruit tree pruning, rose pruning, renovating beds, sp...reading compost, cutting back perennials, gathering leaves, weeding, planting bare rooted trees, planning for the year ahead...the list is seemingly endless! If you need help crossing things off your garden's list then please do get in touch #winterinthegarden #gardenmaintenance https://www.facebook.com/jessedawkinsgardens/ https://jessedawkinsgardens.com.au/

02.01.2022 And the autumn colours keep coming.
