25.01.2022 Calories In vs Calories Out/ Energy in vs energy out There are multiple methods to estimate your basal metabolic rate (BMR), which is your body's daily calorie requirements. In this case we are using the Harris-Benedict equation.... Men: BMR = 66.5 + (13.75 weight in kg) + (5.003 height in cm) - (6.755 x age in years) Women: BMR = 655.1 + (9.563 weight in kg) + (1.85 height in cm) - (4.676 age in years) Once you have your BMR, multiply by your activity level to reach your recommended daily calorie intake, to maintain current body weight. This includes activity levels at work also Little to no exercise 1.2 Light exercise (1-3 days per week) 1.375 Moderate exercise (3-5 days per week) 1.55 Heavy exercise (6-7 days per week) 1.725 Very heavy exercise twice per day, extra heavy workouts 1.9 Now you should know your recommended daily calorie intake. A 500 daily calorie deficit of this amount is estimated to result in a 0.5 kg weight loss per week. Where as a 500 daily calorie surplus is estimated to result in a 0.5 kg weight gain per week. There are various calorie tracking apps you can use like My Fitness Pal & Loseit! Just to name a couple. This will give you a basic understanding of your eating habits and dietary choices. Legumes (chickpeas, lentils, red kidney beans, etc.) Fish Lean meat (chicken, beef, pork, kangaroo, etc. Note that kangaroo is not only naturally lean but what fat it does have is unsaturated which means that it’s healthier, PLUS it is more environmentally friendly than other meats and is free-range = win-win-win-win!) Eggs Low fat dairy (cheeses like cottage, ricotta, feta; fat-free milk; low fat ice cream) Breads like Burgen Other fruits and vegetables (less potato, unless it’s cooked and then cooled, and less avocado).
