24.01.2022 With the recent weather warnings I thought it was a good time to share this life saving advice on infant feeding during an emergency. The least impact on an infant comes when the infant is exclusively breastfed, as no extra supplies need to be considered as long as the mother and infant are not separated. Reguardless of temperature, water or food supplies, an infant can continue to exist on breast milk alone. This is relevant even when an infant usually has so...lid foods or is mixed fed. For mum's who rely on pumping their breast milk or who feed their babies with formula, a little more thought and preparation needs to be given to their infants needs in case of an emergency. As stated in the article, hand expressing is a perfect skill to perfect if an electric breast pump is not available, and extra water supplies and single use cups/containers for feeding and storing milk become more important when washing and sterilising can't be done effectively. 15.01.2022 Women with gestational diabetes have a seven-fold increase in developing type 2 diabetes within 10 years. Breastfeeding reduces this risk, with mother's breastfeeding for 1-2years having a 15% reduction in type 2 diabetes onset.

05.01.2022 Merry Christmas beautiful Mummas! Along with many others, I will be heading away with family this holiday season over Christmas and New Year. As we all know, babies don't follow along with our social cues and wait for the holidays to be over, so if you are requiring breastfeeding support over this time, please reach out, I have some beautiful local colleagues I can refer you to.
