23.01.2022 Meal prep. Not my favourite thing to do but boy is it great when it’s done. . I can be soooo forgetful when it comes to food. I’m usually absorbed in something and only realise I haven’t eaten when my brain starts to get fuzzy. Not great in the middle of a clinic day. . Over the years I’ve learnt what I need to do to make meals happen and having food ready to go makes a big difference. And also setting reminders... ... . If you’re feeling fuzzy or brain dead in the afternoon it might be because you need more fuel. 23.01.2022 Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder refers to a condition of severe premenstrual mood changes including deep depression, anxiety, irritability and panic attacks. . 1 in 20 women experience this and it can be extremely debilitating. It can feel as if you have two different personalities every month. . Stabilising brain function and mood while addressing the underlying hormonal imbalances is key in treating PMDD and involves taming those tricky friends of mine progesterone, oest...rogen and GABA to bring back gentle, calm premenstrual times. . . . . . #pmdd #pmddawareness #pmddsupport #pmddwarrior #pmddcommunity #pmddsucks #pmsproblems #pmsrelief #pmssupport #womenshealth #naturopath #melbournenaturopath See more

21.01.2022 Progesterone acts like the calming neurotransmitter GABA in the brain and makes us feel happy and chill. . Knowing this helps explains a lot about what’s happening during bad PMS . If you don’t feel happy and chill in the week leading up to your period it might be because of your progesterone levels as low progesterone can cause an increase in anxiety, depression, irritability and insomnia that is worse around your period. ... . . . . . #progesterone #pms #periods #premenstrualtension #pmdd #pmddawareness #pmddwarrior #pmsproblems #hormones #womenshealth #gaba #naturopath #womenshealthnaturopath #melbournenaturopath See more
21.01.2022 Definitely pass this one on to your significant other.... . Leading up to a period hormone levels slowly build. Oestrogen surges triggering the release of an egg and then while the egg waits to be fertilised progesterone increases. . It’s when the egg isn’t fertilised that oestrogen and progesterone both drop dramatically and a period occurs. ... . . . . #hormones #hormonalimbalances #hormonehealth #periods #happyperiods #womenshealth #pms #periodblues #pmdd #naturopath #melbournenaturopath See more
19.01.2022 Tell someone. A friend, a family member, your GP, your psychologist, your naturopath. Yes, everyone is going through a tough time but it doesn’t mean you don't deserve support. Share how you're feeling. Share how terrible home schooling is. How lonely you feel.... We underestimate the power of talking through what's going on in our heads. Reconnect with friends. Make time for zoom catch ups, phone calls and conversations that go deeper than surface level. We were really good at this in the first round of lockdown but now that the novelty has worn off I don’t think we are connecting as much as we were last time. Ask for help when you need it. There are treatments that help with sleep, stress, mood and energy. Yes, we do have to 'wait this one out' but help is available that can make this easier. Sending lots of love and support to everyone in Melbourne. And to any of my clients reading this- you know where to find me #lockdown #lockdown2020 #melbournelockdown #isolation #mentalhealthinlockdown #wewillgetthroughthistogether

12.01.2022 More and more people are reporting feeling tired ALL the time and it shouldn’t be shrugged off or dismissed as just being a bit tired or working too much. Post viral fatigue is a common reason for feeling tired all the time and refers to constantly low energy after a viral infection. Glandular fever or Epstein Bar virus is a common example of this as it can hang around in the body for years as a low grade infection that from the outside might only look like tiredness wi...th some swollen glands every now and then. So why is it so important to treat these low-grade infections? First of all, fatigue is horrible. The second major reason why we need to address low grade infections is that more and more research is beginning to show that these stealth pathogens may have the ability to drive more serious chronic diseases like autoimmune conditions. Very commonly fatigue will begin gradually so in many cases people genuinely forget how much energy they used to have and it’s not until they get it back that they realise just how bad it was. Thankfully herbal medicine works well in treating these pesky underlining infections and often results in dramatic changes to energy levels. #glandularfever #epsteinbarvirus #fatigue #chronicfatigue #postviralfatigue #lowgradeinfection #swollenglands #tired #exhaustion #naturopath #melbournenaturopath #womenshealth #energy #immunity #immunehealth
