25.01.2022 We are so excited to drive to a forest again now that Regional Vic’s restrictions have been eased. I can’t wait until the rest of Victoria is free too and I can see my brother! Update for families waiting on me being allowed to work again - I am so confused! We are still waiting for official word on two issues: 1. Can I visit homes to do lifestyle newborn sessions (so far it’s been a no but lots of mixed responses from DHHS and Business Vic) and 2. Can my clients remove t...heir masks for photos? Once I have something in writing I’ll be scheduling you all in ASAP. Sorry things have been so unclear Would be much easier if photographers were mentioned under industry guidelines in the restrictions. 25.01.2022 Dear Victoria, it’s hard to know what to say. How are you feeling after today’s announcements? What are you most afraid of? What is something you enjoyed in lockdown 1.0 that you can now do again? We are all in this together again now. No more division. I hope this is our last big hurdle to normal life. Let’s chat. I’ll start... -I’m feeling tired and in denial about what the next 6 weeks will look like. I’m sad that I don’t get to see anyone’s smiles anymore as of tomorrow b...ut at least children don’t have to wear masks. -I’m most afraid for my mental health and for everyone else’s. This is going to take loads of self regulation and mindfulness and routine for me to get through it without slipping into a crazy rage in front of my kids. 3 deep breaths will be used A LOT. 3. I enjoyed... oh man this is hard. I keep typing things I enjoyed and then deleting them because I don’t want to be back there again. So I will say I hope to enjoy more crafty projects this time... 24.01.2022 As you all probably assume, I’m yet again closed for newborn, pregnancy and family sessions until restrictions are eased again. I’ve been in touch with all of my bookings until the 13th Sept. But with the high case numbers and mandatory masks I’m not sure what that will mean for all of my September bookings. We will watch and see and I will be in touch with you soon if I think your booking might be affected too. Tough times! 22.01.2022 First time mums, where you at? Do you still get assigned a Mother’s Group during this pandemic, like an online one at least? If not, I’m going to plead with you to please find your tribe! If you have a local community page, or mums page, put a call out. Something specific like, ‘looking for first time mums with babies born in %insert month% who live in %insert postcode%.’ Then start a little private Facebook group. Your mama heart needs it! To have a group of mums who are goi...ng through the same hard shit for the first time - it’s so valuable. I definitely have my Mother’s Group to thank for my mental health that first time around. 3am, stressing about something being normal or not - ask the group what their babe does! Once restrictions lift, meet up with them in a park or something and sit and admire your babes playing while picking up tips on how others mum. 13.01.2022 First session back post lockdown 2.0 for this beautiful Mama (Regional Victoria). We have been staying in touch as we waited patiently for the restrictions to ease enough for us to do this on a quiet beach. This lovely lady has me booked in for her birth and a Fresh 48 session too but sadly visitor restrictions haven’t changed at hospitals. We can still hold on to a tiny bit of hope though... (*Note: I was advised by Business Victoria on Friday that my clients can remove ...their masks just for their photos during the shoot and I am still not permitted to enter people’s homes for newborn sessions. Outdoor sessions only at the moment. Masks and visitor bubbles is making all of this very tricky for everyone to interpret and there is a lot of conflicting info being thrown at photographers. 08.01.2022 Liquid Gold. Colostrum. Sharing this favourite image of mine for World Breastfeeding Week 2020. My journey ended just recently, 2 girls and over 2 years breastfeeding each. Phew. It was a challenge but I will treasure the memories of snuggles and nourishing them. I completely respect and understand that not every one is so lucky with breastfeeding, so always remember that fed is best - no matter how it is done. A mama knows what is needed in their personal situations. Here’...s a little more info on colostrum: ‘Colostrum is richer than breast milk and has a different nutritional profile. In regards to composition, colostrum actually has more in common with blood than it does with breast milk since it’s chock-full of white blood cells and immune-boosting properties.
