24.01.2022 For all of those who works in the Arts, Entertainment, Cultural and Events industry, please consider signing this petition to ask for a boost to kickstart the Arts again once the virus passes. The entire industry has suffered devastating losses across the board. Everyone needs entertainment, art and music in their lives: https://www.aph.gov.au/petition_list?id=EN1414

24.01.2022 To all of our lovely clients, I would like to reassure you that I am taking all of the government measures with regards to COVID-19 seriously. I have only been up to the studio twice over the fortnight and have not been out and about except to the coffee shop next door for a quick takeaway cuppa when I have been in. The studio is only open for appointments and I have not had a sitting since a couple of days before the first confirmed case to avoid any contamination to props a...nd studio equipment. I am continuing to monitor the advice. We have postponed the PinUp Model event for now but hope to be able to put it back on again soon. Take care out there, don't panic, be kind and support local businesses. I still have prints for sale and also currently working on a textile print range. I will also be working more on my needle felt creations and happy to take any commissions for future newborn sessions during this quiet time.

24.01.2022 Would anyone be interested in learning how to needle felt online?

23.01.2022 Wow!! Westmorland Falls in Tasmania are incredibly breathtaking. Setting up the digital shots now. I love that the sun doesn't go down in Tassie until 9pm!!! #visittasmania #tasmaniawilderness #tasmanianparksandwildlife #westmorlandfalls

23.01.2022 I apologise for the silence. I wanted to do my best to wade through this situation and didn't want to post until I had a better idea of what the future might hold. After a long wait for financial assistance, most of my services will be turned back on temporarily this week and any outstanding images will be available for clients by Friday via our online galleries. All links will be sent to emails. I have not had access to emails at times and most of my other services are cloud... based monthly services that were disabled due to a serious lack of funds over the last couple of months. A full update on what the future holds for Jessica Lea Photography will be announced shortly. One thing is certain, it is not going to be financially viable to continue with the commercial studio due to high overhead costs but the business will continue again from home if I can find a suitable place at a reasonable price. I am not sure when that will be at this point in time. I do have some stock items that need to be sold and they will be listed by the weekend. This has been an incredibly difficult process and unfortunately I lost all of my work within the first week of March. It is not going to be possible to continue in the same way that I was before. I have thrown every cent I have at the studio and sadly it has all been for nothing. I have only been open 18 months and it has been a struggle from the start. I have nothing left and I am completely exhausted from the stress. Despite how tough it has been, this has also allowed me time to reassess my business and personal life. It is time for a total restructure and although it will take some time, I am honestly looking forward to the change.

20.01.2022 Coming up to the end of the week, looking forward to enjoying the weekend. What are you up to this weekend? These are the full images of the ones posted on Instagram. #stormseason #brisbanestorms #summerstorms #lightningbolt #lightning #tempest #landscape #nature #landscapeprints #storms #cleveland #redlands

18.01.2022 It was so wonderful working with the team on this photoshoot. I loved the classical, elegant styling of the elopement style wedding that Mariana setup at Flaxton Gardens. If you are looking for a wedding location on the Sunshine Coast, you really need to stop by and take a look around the gorgeous Flaxton Gardens grounds and facilities.

18.01.2022 The studio will continue to be closed until further notice. The studio has been closed since the 12th of March to avoid any contamination. I will provide an update once I know what the future holds.

18.01.2022 Thank you so much to Queensland Brides magazine - it was such a fun shoot.

16.01.2022 Studio Closure Sale and Gallery Open Night!! The studio part of the business is officially closing in mid August (although the business is still operating) and as a last hurrah, I am going to open the studio and put up a gallery show of my favourite images to say thank you to those who have been so supportive over the years. I will provide some wine and cheese nibbles for the evening. Once I have print confirmation dates through, I will post an official event with dates and ...times. I look forward to being able to catch up with you all. I am able to have 15 persons inside at one time with current restrictions. Items for sale will be going in to the window at the studio, this page and Facebook marketplace.

13.01.2022 It was an honour to attend and photograph an event filled with such a wonderful group of inspirational women who are doing so much for our local communities. It was so wonderful to see you all and take your photos. What a fun night! It is nice to be able to take a night out to enjoy yourselves as we all know the need for support services never ends. Thank you!

13.01.2022 Thank you so much to Only The Essentials for being so flexible and designing an awesome pack for all of the newborn mums who come in to the studio for a session. These packs are included with all newborn session bookings.

11.01.2022 New Print Store Coming in September!

10.01.2022 The sky was angry, filled with so much frenetic electricity that night. The rain fell hard, drenching all in it's path. This Image was taken on the 19th of February 2020 from Cleveland Point. #storms #stormseason #brisbanestorms #summerstorms #lightningbolt #lightning #tempest #landscape #nature #landscapeprints

10.01.2022 Unfortunately after the events that have transpired today, I don't think there is any point in going ahead with the gallery. I don't want to put anyone at risk. We also don't know how many more people may have traveled and not been truthful about where they have been. With the cases now here in Brisbane and the exploding cases down south, it is just too risky to go ahead.

09.01.2022 Hello Everyone, Agape Outreach is looking for a location around the following areas for the food van run. They require a large carpark space to park the van and provide food and meals to those in need. Please share this post around just in case anyone might be able to help out. Thank you

07.01.2022 It was an honour to attend and photograph the Heart of Women awards event on the Gold Coast this evening. I met so many inspiring women this evening. I cannot wait to share the images with you tomorrow. Finally...things are starting to look up again

07.01.2022 Lake McKenzie or Lake Boorangoora is a perched lake located on the UNESCO World Heritage Listed Fraser (K'gari) Island, the largest sand island in the world spanning a massive 1840 sq kms. Lake McKenzie's gorgeous azure waters are due to a number of factors. All water in the lake is rainwater that filters through the ultra fine pure white silica sand between two large sand dunes. The other reason is due to leaf residue on the bottom of the lake itself creating a black backgr...ound which allows the water to reflect the sun. The lake covers an area of 150 hectares and the water is so pure it is unsuitable for most species to live in. Some of the fauna that does live in the lake includes the Fraser Island Short Necked Turtle (Emydura macquarii nigra) and the rare Fraser Island Broad-shelled Turtles (Macrochelodina expansa). Did you know that #Fraser #Island has the second highest concentration of #lakes in Australia after Tasmania? We are so lucky to be able to visit this incredibly special location just off the #Queensland #Coast. #Queensland #EcoTourism #FraserIsland #WideBay #HerveyBay #SpiritofHerveyBay #FantasticFraserTours

06.01.2022 I have a few prints in stock and some baby gift boxes from my newborn sessions that I am unable to shoot at the moment. I might put up a flash sale and see if anyone is interested. At this point in time, I am most likely going to have to close the studio and go back to working from home, losing everything I have put in to this business over the last 18 months. I know many people are in this situation. If you are in a position to buy a print or maybe buy a gift certificate for a session, book a future session, I will be offering discounts for those services. Details up in the next day or so.

06.01.2022 My emails are not working this morning. Will hopefully be back up and running shortly.

06.01.2022 Happy Belated New Year to All...I am in the studio packing away the Christmas decorations until December. I can't wait to share some photos of the tidy studio with you all once it is finished tonight.

05.01.2022 I would like to clarify my earlier post. All services that are not strictly studio based will still be available until a new space has been confirmed. The new space will most likely be a home based space due to cost. The studio has not yet shutdown, I am just unable to operate until the restrictions are eased and there is still no clear end in sight. Without knowing when I can operate again, it is better to reduce expenses for now and come back when it is viable. This is a transition period. It isn't the end. I love photography too much to ever give it up.

05.01.2022 Day 3 - Tassie Trip. Sitting in the wonderful Fudge n Good cafe in Sheffield having a beautiful filling breakfast before heading off on another bushwalk to find a waterfall before heading in to the Loongana Mountain Valley Wilderness Retreat to hang out with Tassie Devils, Quolls, Pademelons, Glow Worms & more!! Filling in my journal, researching waterfall locations and making field notes. Far out I love Tasmania. I cannot get over the incredible scenery. #visittasmania #tas...maniawilderness #tasmanianwaterfalls #waterfalls #landscape #bushwalk #waterfallsoftasmania See more

05.01.2022 I sincerely apologise as I am up to the 11th day in a row of work. I am little behind on emails and other bits and pieces. I am working tonight to try and catch up on it all.

04.01.2022 It is time to focus on the positives and share kindness and laughter via this page. I am going to take a breather this weekend and will get back in to it next week. Being angry and frustrated isn't going to change anything. Going to spend the weekend doing mindful meditation. Enjoy your weekend and take care of each other

02.01.2022 Some more coverage of the Heart of Women awards in the Courier Mail. What a genuinely inspirational group of women! Thank you Joanne from Zanthii.

02.01.2022 A big welcome and thank you to all of the people who have liked the page this week. During gloomy times for all, support really does matter

02.01.2022 I was fortunate enough to attend and photograph the 2020 Heart of Women Awards at the Palazzo Versace on the Gold Coast. Thank you so much to Denise and Theresa and all of the other wonderful women I met on the night. Sending the biggest congratulations to all of the finalists and winners. What a group of inspiring women!

01.01.2022 Good Morning Everyone, The emails and website are back up and working again today. Sincerest apologies for the issues last week.

01.01.2022 Hello Everyone! I know I have been quiet lately but that has been due to COVID of course and I have spent some time deciding how to move forward in the new climate and looking for fill in work in the meantime. There is a For Lease sign next to my shop but I am still currently in the building. Still sorting out the lease situation but that should be finalised soon. The business will continue to run from home instead of a commercial studio location to reduce costs. I am current...ly searching for a new location as I type this message. I know this has been an incredibly tough time for so many people and my thoughts are with you all. I hope to maybe in the future open up a series of fun Pop Up Studios around Brisbane and further afield once things return to normal. I am ready to move and change with the new environment. You will see me there packing up over the next few weeks and I will have some items up for sale. Cheers and Take Care Jessica Thomas
