21.01.2022 Boosting posts are great for social proof, but likes don’t get you sales What if I told you there was a better way to effectively and strategically implement a marketing funnel within your ad campaigns? 17.01.2022 #RealTalk though Let's talk platforms! It's *very* easy to feel like we need to do ALL the things and be showing up in ALL the places. But here's the problem with that: you waste time hanging out where there are crickets [metaphorically, speaking of course.] ... [Unless you know of any insects on social media?] Jokes aside, where is YOUR target audience hanging out? Seriously. Is it Instagram? Facebook? LinkedIn? Pinterest? YouTube? TikTok? Google? Emails? Yeah, my brain hurts too But answering that question BEFORE you... Create accounts on *every platform ever* Create and post content Invest in paid ads [this is a big one!] ...is SO important. Why? Because while setting up accounts and creating content to post on the platforms organically is FREE - what it doesn't cost you in money, it costs you in time Think about that for a second. If you hone in on the platforms where your ideal customers and/or clients are hanging out, you'll create killer content that adds proper value + you'll see your engagement soar. "But what if my audience DOES use all of those platforms?" I hear you. My answer? Be there. But choose key ones to show up consistently on, then REPURPOSE your existing content that performs well for the others. Don't make life [and business!] harder for yourself. 17.01.2022 I used to hate being in front of a camera Honestly? I remember laughing when Instagram launched Stories. And when TikTok blew up for all the teenagers [sorry about my side part, skinny jeans + excessive emojis - if you know, you know!] ... Oh, and we can't forget Reels! At the start, I seriously could not fathom how I could be using these features for my business. How on earth was I meant to add value through the platforms through short videos and showing my face?! If I am honest now though? I couldn't imagine *not* showing up using short-form video through Stories & Reels. Let's be real, if edutainment was a love language; it'd be mine, hands down Here's the thing: people invest in people. So when you show the 'who' behind your brand to sell the 'why' about your 'what' - it's a game-changer In other words, humanise your brand by sharing stories, experiences and results to sell the transformation that occurs when your ideal customer or client invests in your product or service THAT is where the magic happens, baby! So if you... haven't posted a photo of your cute head in a while have neglected to share some unpolished behind-the-scenes on your Instagram Stories are terrified of being too awkward or weird on Reels ...then this is your sign to show up and own it! 16.01.2022 Swipe for the low-down on Facebook & Google vs. News Media Outlets If you haven't heard, Facebook's banned news content on their platform in Australia as of today But in doing this, the platform is inevitably driving traffic off Facebook to the news outlets themselves. ... Sounds counter-productive for a social media giant that does everything in its power to keep people *on* their platform, right? And where will consumers go to get their news online if it's not on Facebook? Predominantly, search engines like Google. I don't know about you, but that seems a bit coincidental to me. Here's my hunch: the allegiance forming between Facebook and Google started when the Government drafted the new legislation for the new Media Bargaining Code. And it's likely only getting stronger With more people likely to search on Google for their news as a result of Facebook’s response, the timeliness of Google’s release of their new Google News Showcase platform makes sense! Here’s my take: more Google users searching for news = more advertising incentive for businesses = more $ for Google. All while supporting journalism through their new platform [ie. a win-win for Google!] And Facebook? While I personally don't like the removal of news content from my feed, they don't have the $1.38b commitment that Google has, and they can stick to the social platform Zuck-dawgz designed it for. 15.01.2022 Let’s chat about creating urgency in your paid ads It’s all about using the right words and showing up at the right time, to the right people! For example: Retargeting people who have added product to their cart in the last 7 days, but haven’t purchased with a discount code that expires at a specific time? ABSOLUTE GOLD ... Not only are you incentivising their purchase with a discount code, but you’re showing up to a super hot audience who are SO close to buying All you have to do is create that sense of urgency. And the best way to do that? Dynamic Product Ads These ads show the people who have abandoned their cart the *exact* same product they had their eyes on Creepy? Maybe. High ROI? Absolutely! Trust me, this bottom of funnel strategy works wonders for e-commerce businesses So moral of the story? Don’t let your abandoned cart audiences go to waste. Create urgency + a little bit of FOMO, so they never have to regret not purchasing your product! Have you ever seen an ad like this before & did the urgency work for you?



14.01.2022 Want to set up your Facebook Ads for success? Duh, of course you do! There are many elements to high-performing Facebook Ads, but I want to share 6 key components with you:... [Make sure you SAVE this image or post for reference later! It is jam-packed with value!] 1 Selecting the Correct Campaign Objective: From Website Traffic and Post Engagement to Video Views and Conversions, optimising your campaigns correctly will make sure you are letting Facebook put your ads in front of the people most likely to take those desired actions. 2 Qualified Target Audiences: Targeting people based on their demographic, interest and behaviour is important, but also including lookalike audiences within your top of funnel campaigns ensure you're leveraging your remarketing data to find people similar to your ideal customer or client 3 Engaging Creative & Ad Copy: Not only does your ad have to capture the attention of your audience, but it has to keep them engaged too Selecting engaging images or videos in combination with relevant ad copy is incredibly important to the success of your entire campaign. 4 Website is Optimised & Converts Well: Here's the hard truth: you can set up great ads for your brand and drive traffic to your website, but if your website takes *forever* to load, it's super messy or complicated, and the user experience is - then your bounce rate will be high and your conversions will be low. 5 Implementation of Marketing Funnel: You can't expect one ad campaign to get you results. You need to implement multiple campaigns with different objectives at different stages of the marketing funnel. 14.01.2022 I TRIPLED my client base once I started showing up online It's true: your potential customers or clients don't know you exist if you aren't showing up. Don't worry, I hear you: "But Jess, word of mouth is the bomb diggity!"... And you're not wrong. I'm not questioning the significance of referral marketing, because it will *never* lose its status as the most powerful form of marketing BUT I want you to know that your online presence your website, social media accounts, Google My Business profile etc NEED to be there. You need to be showing up consistently online [whether consistent looks like a few times a day or a few times a week for your business]. If you aren't creating and sharing content on platforms where people can SEARCH for you, then you are missing out on increasing your overall visibility Word of mouth is great, yes. But you can't rely on it forever particularly in this day and age. There, I said it I mean, even if your cousin's best friend's niece heard from you through word of mouth they're likely going to do their research first, right? So where are they heading? To your website, your Instagram profile or Facebook page? What you offer needs to be visible online! If you're not showing up online, you're lacking visibility and therefore missing out on potential customers or clients that may just be the perfect match for you! 13.01.2022 There are carousels. Then there are PANORAMA carousels Not sure what I'm talking about? They're those funky-looking carousel of images that merge into the next.... Not only do they look great visually, but they encourage your audience to continue engaging with your posts, as they provide a sneak peek of the following image And when you have scroll-stopping creatives that entice your existing [and potential!] followers to actually pause for a moment and digest your content - THAT is where your engagement skyrockets Not to mention the algorithm recognises that people are spending more time reading your content + liking, commenting, sharing and [most importantly] SAVING to come back to! When people are engaging more, the platform notices and rewards you by putting your content higher in your audience's newsfeeds, because they obviously love ya stuff! 12.01.2022 Why do we get so awkward talking about money?! I don't know about you, but I swear my ENTIRE body used to cringe the heck out when I heard people talk about money But let me tell you something I've learnt over the last 6-12 months in business:... IT IS OKAY TO WANT MONEY [Because spoiler alert: the whole world pretty much revolves around it]. I'm not talking about being greedy here. [That's different - and it's also kinda really gross too - so don't be like that!] But I'm talking about setting financial goals for your life + business so that you can work when you WANT to work, rather than because you HAVE to My entire mindset towards money has changed significantly in the last year of running my own business. I realised that people are investing in me because of the VALUE that I bring In other words: their exchange of money wasn't for my time spent doing things, but the value I added to their business as a result of doing it. If you're struggling with money mindset + self-worth, go read that last paragraph again I shifted from feeling GUILTY about wanting more money to knowing that what I do is actually worth it, and it was okay to set financial goals in my business [and work damn hard to achieve them, too!] That was actually my goal for this year: to set up the foundations for financial freedom in my life You see, I don't want to be a gazillionaire [that amount of money genuinely scares the outta me]. 11.01.2022 Okay, hands up if Facebook or Instagram have ever sent you one of these cute notifications... "This post is performing 85% better than the rest. Boost it for $30 and reach X thousand people." Sounds like a pretty sweet deal, right? ... So you cave and press that Facebook 'Boost' or Instagram 'Promote' button. Then boom, you've clicked a couple of buttons and it's published! That was easy! But fast forward three days You've spent $30 on a boosted post and reached said 'X thousand people'. BUT here's the catch You have only achieved 12 likes, a comment from someone [other than your mum] and if you’re lucky, a few shares. But qualified website traffic and sales? Nope, only crickets Sound familiar? One of the QUICKEST ways to grow your e-commerce business online is through implementing a marketing funnel through strategic paid ads! 10.01.2022 Meet Aimee If you can’t half tell, she’s my sister. [And before you ask no, we’re not twins] In fact, she’s two years younger than me.... And not only that, she is an incredible friend + an amazing cheerleader of mine I was flicking through my business diary today, planning out the rest of my week, when I noticed something written on the Notes page at the back. 09.01.2022 Marketing isn't a 'set and forget' game Which means your Google Ads aren't either... Here are 6 ways you can be OPTIMISING your Google Ads, so SAVE this as a checklist for later: 1 Include keywords that you are bidding on within your landing page to improve your overall ad quality score and therefore, your ranking on Google.... [If Google can't see a correlation between your keywords, ads and landing pages - you'll rank poorly]. 2 Add any irrelevant search terms or queries that are triggering your ads to display to your negative keywords list as exact match types. This will deter those particular phrases or words from triggering your ads in the future, so if you generate many impressions and clicks per day, this should be a DAILY optimisation task. 3 Use responsive [search AND display] ads to create multiple options of ad copy, headlines and creative which Google can then optimise for the best performing combination. 4 Categorise your ad groups to improve your ad relevance. For example, if you are a service-based business, split up your ad groups based on the different services you provide. 5 Use phrase and exact match types [predominantly], rather than purely using broad match types to ensure you are driving qualified traffic to your website. 6 Keep your ad groups to a maximum of 20 keywords each. This goes hand-in-hand with Tip 4 about categorising your ad groups. It improves your ad relevance and therefore, your overall ranking. 08.01.2022 Sell products online? You NEED to be using dynamic product ads. This is *exactly* how those clothing brands you're browsing online are making you feel like they’re obsessed with you They follow you around Facebook and Instagram, and suck you into buying with not-so-subtle reminders that you’ve left something in your cart ... And here's how you can do the same 1. Create a Facebook catalogue connected to your e-commerce store through Business Manager 2. Implement a Catalogue Sales campaign within your funnel using your catalogue 3. Retarget warm audiences who have viewed your website, viewed products or added product to their cart, but NOT purchased with an engaging ad [bonus points if you have a discount code for further incentive!] Dynamic product ads leverage your Facebook Pixel data and show relevant ads dynamically to audiences who have recently engaged with your website In other words? They're going to see that good ol' product of yours that they had their eyes on Creepy? Maybe High converting? You betcha! This is one campaign objective you *need* to be using in your marketing funnel if you're an e-commerce brand selling products online. Particularly if you're running ads over this upcoming Black Friday and Christmas period, when more people are buying online! 05.01.2022 Three years ago today, JES Solution Marketing was born! And 24 years ago...I was! Yes, my business and I share a birthday #cute ... In the last three years of business, I've learnt some HUGE lessons along the way. But here are my top 3 for the past year: 1. STOP EXCHANGING TIME FOR MONEY This was a massive lesson for me. This year, my money mindset changed dramatically. Finally, it clicked I was completing tasks for clients quicker AND getting them better results, but still charging the same amount [and sometimes less]. The people pleaser inside of me was neglecting to recognise that something didn’t quite add up there But now? I am starting to truly recognise my worth and charging for the VALUE I am bringing. I still have a long way to go with this, but boy am I glad I am on this journey now 2. LET GO OF PERFECTIONISM I am a perfectionist Don't get me wrong, making sure things are 11/10 okay is a good thing. However, I've let my perfectionism stall me majorly and that’s an understatement. So here's to letting go of that, because sometimes done is better than perfect 3. YOU NEED TO INVEST IN ORDER TO GROW This year, I've invested the most into my business, ever From systems that automate processes for me, to expanding my team and investing in a 10 week mastermind. Each and every time, I've been scared poop-less to do just that, but boy is it exciting when you can see that ceiling start to lift on your business + you're actually growing! So there it is: 3 lessons that I have learnt in the last year of running this business! 01.01.2022 I'm all about saving time, so this hashtag hack is a GAME CHANGER If you have your sets of hashtags stored on your phone somewhere [whether it's in Notes or another app], then THIS will honestly rock your world. Swipe for a quick step-by-step tutorial on how you can save time copying and pasting your hashtag sets.... You could even use this hack to set up quick responses to FAQs or other messages you send frequently to people, just like Instagram's 'Quick Replies' feature I use it to save time typing out my entire email address or usernames to login to apps or sites!
