24.01.2022 Not one but two beautiful Georgian chests are on the floor this week. One is mahogany, cockbeading moulded with original locks and key hole escutcheons. The other is oak with cock beading and embossed brass ring handles. 11.01.2022 Our new window display. The central feature being an early 19th Century English rosewood card table with beautifully carved lion paw feet, a Japanese bronze Samurai Warrior holding a Naginata and the back drop a late 19th century original still life oil painting with Australian flannel flowers. All lit with a mid 20th century classic solid brass column form lamp with silk shade.

10.01.2022 Sometimes something or someone comes along and takes your breath away. Who is this guy? It was painted in 1926 by a listed Australian artist Herbert Beecroft (1864-1951) Beecroft entered and was a finalist in the very first Archibald prize in 1921. In 1922 he entered and was finalist with 3 portraits including Mrs Beecroft, a portrait of Lady McMillan and a portrait of Mr QL Deloitte. ... In 1923 Beecroft also entered and was a finalist with a painting of Thelma Harris. A famous death mask of bush ranger William Westwood bears a scar on his cheek similar but I’m not convinced this is him. Hard to value a piece like this!
