25.01.2022 TIPS FOR TAKING PHOTOS OF YOUR NEWBORN BABY I can't tell you how heartbreaking it has been having to postpone my upcoming newborn sessions. I put together these tips for my beautiful clients who are missing out on their newborn sessions, but I really wanted to share here to reach as many new & expecting mummas as possible - because I know so many mums will be going through the same thing I really hope these tips help you with capturing some beautiful images of your newborn ...Continue reading

25.01.2022 It's really really REALLY nice to be back *AVAILABILITY UPDATE* I am fully booked for 2020 and now taking bookings from March 2021. Weekend dates for early 2021 are almost fully booked - I have 2 spots left in March & 2 in April (plus some weekday dates). So please do get in touch sooner rather than later if you're interested in booking your own family or newborn photography session! ... Sneak peek from Sunday night with the lovely Julie, Hao & Xavier

25.01.2022 THANK YOU At the start of January, I shared that I would be donating 10% of new booking session fees and 100% of gallery upgrade fees to support the Bushfire Recovery & Relief appeals. Yesterday I tallied everything up and am SO excited to announce that we raised $1550!! (I was pretty excited..if you saw the stories I posted this afternoon, you'll see that my 4yo was less than impressed...although he came round in the end ). ... The Australian Red Cross was the organisation I had chosen to donate to, but I also was more than happy for clients to choose a different organisation! So in the end, the donations made were - The Australian Red Cross ($1355), Victorian Bushfire Appeal ($95) & Blaze Aid ($100) - swipe across for the donation confirmations (except for blaze aid as I'm still in the process of arranging that one!). I want to give a huge shout out to my AMAZING clients who helped make this possible - Liz & Scott Ashleigh Catherine & Jason Jacqui Narin & Simon Georgia Elise & Glen Jess & Lenny Katie Fatu Linsey & Simon. Oh and for a little more added positive news, I saw on the ABC emergency FB page this morning that for the first time since July 2019, there are currently NO active bush or grass fires in NSW!!! (the RFS have been fighting fires for more than 240 days...I can't even comprehend it!!!) source: ABC emergency.

24.01.2022 Melbourne weather has been my nemesis the past couple of weeks - forcing me to reschedule outdoor sessions thanks to woefully bad weather But this weekend, thankfully we're back on!! This afternoon i'm heading down the mornington peninsula, while tomorrow I'm down in Torquay - we are SO spoilt for choice for locations in and around Melbourne aren't we!? What are you guys up to this weekend!? I hope you're all enjoying this beautiful sunshine!

23.01.2022 Loving having the opportunity to be part of this fabulous series, showcasing local businesses during lockdown. I share some tips on photographing your kids during this stage and I really hope they're helpful - if you guys have any other questions at all, please just let me know in the comments because I'm always happy to chat :)

23.01.2022 1.2 TRILLION That’s the number of digital photos that were taken in 2018 My guess is that a very large majority of those photos will live out their days as JPEGS buried on our computers, external hard drives or the cloud. ... I’m so passionate about capturing our everyday lives, ensuring mums are in the frame with their babies but I also really want families to prioritise printing and displaying their photos - so everyone can enjoy them! I know it can be hard to think of the best ways to do this, so I wanted to take you for a little tour through my own home, room by room, and show you how I display our family photos throughout our house Visit my blog for the tour - and let me know in the comments if this is helpful for you and if it gives you some ideas to start displaying more of your own family photos ! https://www.jessworrall.com//how-to-display-your-family-ph

22.01.2022 Thinking of everyone in Victoria at the moment and hope you're all holding up OK. It's a shit show isn't it !? There's really no professional way to say it so i'm not going to even try There are so many unknowns and ongoing confusion trying to understand what the Victorian roadmap means for photography businesses moving forward (which is understandable!). Although I would LOVE to say with confidence that i'll be able to resume shooting by the end of October, the reality is ...there is absolutely no certainty that will be the case and it's dependent on so many factors outside of everyone's control right now. I've been in touch with all of my clients and everyone on my waiting list (please let me know if you haven't heard from me but should have), and have been completely blown away by everyone's understanding and patience!! Seriously, thank you guys SO much!! I am SO hopeful we'll finally get to work together sometime in the next couple of months Finally - I am fully booked for 2020 and am now booking 2021 session dates. So if you would like to work with me and are keen to book a session date in early 2021 - please let me know

22.01.2022 On the blog Once upon a time, Victorians were allowed to cross over into NSW and I was lucky enough to fly up to Sydney to photograph this awesome crew! It feels like a lifetime ago! One of the upsides to lockdown is i'm finally able to catch up with sharing sessions on my blog, so if you want to see more of this session, just click below!... www.jessworrall.com//baby-teo-melbourne-newborn-photograph

22.01.2022 I've said it before, but I want to say it again to all the families who feel like they're missing out because they've been unable to get their newborn photos done during lockdown. EVERY age & stage is special and worthy of documenting!! Whenever I speak to my clients who have, for one reason or another, waited and had their photos done when their babies are a little bit older ALWAYS tell me that they're so glad they waited because they love that we were able to capture more o...f their bubs unique little personality - the smiles, the chubby cheeks, the giggles...and most importantly the strength of their bond that has grown between them. So while I completely understand that it might feel like you're missing out on really precious memories - just remember, that whether you have your photos done at 10 days, 2 months, 6 months or 1 year - you'll still end up with photos you will treasure forever. I PROMISE. And if you still don't believe me, I've gone back through some sessions that I've done over the years with babies that are a little bit older, and shared some of these images over on my blog to show you just how special they all are. A reminder that I am currently taking bookings from March 2021 onwards, so please get in touch if you would like to schedule your own family or newborn session

22.01.2022 There is something extra special about having newborn photos taken in the first home your child will ever live in. However, one thing that I know people are often worried about when they are considering booking an in home newborn photography session, is whether or not their home is going to be suitable for photos. Living in Melbourne, many of us live in smaller homes or apartments. Melbourne also has a lot of single fronted/older period homes or terraces that often don’t l...et a lot of light in. Your first thought may be that an in home newborn session couldn’t possibly work for you if you only have ONE room in your home that let’s natural light in or has enough space to move around in. You might think that you need to find a photographer that works out a studio to get your newborn photos done, but i’m here to tell you there is plenty of magic to be made even if we only use one room in your home. Up on my blog now, is this recent newborn session with the lovely Priyanka, Max & Surya (swipe left for a little sneak peek) - all of the images featured in the blog post were shot in the one master bedroom. Most often, I do find that main bedrooms will be where I spend 80-90% of time shooting. We have a nice cosy, comfy bed to sit on and generally speaking, the main bedroom also tends to have the nicest light. If you click through to the full blog post, you'll see that we can capture so much variety, so many special and priceless memories all in the one room https://www.jessworrall.com//natural-newborn-photography-s

21.01.2022 Final post from me for 2019 to say a humongous and heartfelt thank you to each and every one of you here who have followed along and supported Jess Worrall Photography this year. I'm sure many of you don't realise how much it means to me every time you click "like" or comment on one of my photos or when you send me a DM or reply to my stories. Social media has allowed my business to grow and so I would be lost without you all! To all of the awesome & inspiring small biz fri...ends I have connected with this year, thank you for reducing much of the loneliness that comes with working for yourself & from home! I have met some incredible women this year and have loved all of the DMs, chats, support and coffee / vino catch ups. I've been surrounded by women that GENUINELY support one another and care about each others successes and that has been one of the highlights of this year for me! To my bloody awesome husband (who has been my biggest supporter since day one) and my amazing friends & family who look after my kids, understand when I stand them up last minute because of work and recommend me to your own friends & family - I love you guys more than anything! But the biggest thank you of course goes out to all of the wonderful families & small business owners who have booked sessions with me or who have recommended me to their friends or family.. from the very bottom of my heart, THANK YOU! I'm beyond grateful and have seriously loved working with each and every one of you (I seriously have the *BEST* clients!) OK, so now i've got all of that out of my system, I hope you all have a bloody amazing new years and restful/relaxing start to the twenties, see you next decade!! (sorrrrrry...I couldn't resist) the wonderful Sister Scout Studio

21.01.2022 HELPING GRANDPARENTS FEEL CONNECTED TO THEIR GRANDBABIES!! One of the (many) really heartbreaking things about the social distancing we're all now having to practice, is how hard it is for all of the amazing grandparents out there that are used to seeing their grandkids on a daily or weekly basis. We’re making the most of facetime, but another REALLY great way to help grandparents feel like they’re not missing out on too much is through the AMAZING app Tinybeans . I posted ...about how much I love this app a few months back, but I thought it was worthwhile sharing again (fyi, this is in no way sponsored - our family just all seriously love the app so much!) My kids are incredibly close to their grandparents who live in New Zealand. Obviously, given the distance they don't get to see each other IRL as much as they wish they could! We’ve used tinybeans since my eldest was born and it’s something that has always helped them to feel connected, involved and to feel like they know EVERYTHING that’s going on in the kids lives. Literally the first thing they do when they wake up in the morning is check tinybeans for updates from the day before. When you open TB, the layout is a calendar which shows a month at a time. You can post photos, videos and record milestones to each day and then the family members you have invited can just open the app to see what you have added for any particular day. So much easier than emailing/texting photos all of the time and completely private which in my opinion makes it a far better option than sharing every update to social media! It’s also just amazing to be able to scroll back through the years and look back on all of the photos of memories you have recorded (bonus for all of us that had the best of intentions to write things down in a baby book but forgot after the first month). If you have any other tips to help all of the wonderful grandparents feel more connected during this period, let me know in the comments!

21.01.2022 Well, we missed the actual *march* part of the afternoon (we only lasted an hour), there were multiple tantrums, we got in the way of probably hundreds of people with our pram, I had to bribe the kids with chocolate and hot chips to keep them from losing their shit on multiple occasions...but, we got there. And i'm proud to be able to tell the kids that we were part of today. #schoolstrike4climate #climatestrike

20.01.2022 When you've got your whole world in your hands A little behind on sneak peeks, but I just had to share this recent session for the lovely Priyanka, Max & Surya... aren't they the sweetest

20.01.2022 How is everyone feeling about the end of year / christmas lead up?! A little like photo 1 or a little more like photo 2!? My husbands folks arrived from NZ a couple of days ago, so we now have an adult to child ratio of 2:1, my mother in law is going to make me trifle for xmas day (bless her heart), and we have very little planned for the next couple of weeks which I'm thoroughly stoked about! So I'm feeling very photo 1 at the moment... but I'm sure by week 3 of our childcare being closed, i'll be leaning far more toward photo 2 @ Footscray, Victoria, Australia

20.01.2022 UP ON THE BLOG - I'm sharing this beautiful newborn session and am answering 5 of the most commonly asked questions I receive about what you can expect when you book your newborn photography session with me. Click below to view the full post, if you have any other questions at all, please just drop them in the comments and I'm always happy to answer them https://www.jessworrall.com//newborn-photography-melbourne

20.01.2022 Hey guys It's been ages since I showed myself on here and I've had a few lovely new faces follow along, so for those of you who don't know me, I thought I should introduce myself a little- 1. I'm Jess (incase that wasn't obvious from my super creative business name ) - I'm a mum to a 4 & 6 year old and married to a kiwi who refuses to admit I'm funnier than him 2. I never studied photography - my background is in social work (I worked in mental health ...and refugee/asylum seeker fields before I had my kids). But I've always LOVED photography, I was always the kid at school who brought a camera and annoyed everyone around me! 3. I'm an ISFP for any personality test geeks out there (and it's freakishly accurate!!) 4. I have the worst memory *ever*. I still blame baby brain all these years later I forget my kids date of birth, turn up to appointments on the wrong day, forget to pick my kid up from school, start cooking dinner and then leave the room and completely forget about it (thank god for smoke alarms)... I never fail to amaze myself! 5. I'm currently re-watching parks & recreation for about the 10th time (after I finished rewatching the office during lockdown 1.0) 6. As a mum of two little kids, I know how easy it is to hide BEHIND the camera - to be the person who focuses on capturing all of the family memories instead of actually *existing* in them. That is why I'm SO passionate about making my sessions as relaxed, fun and easy as possible I'd love to hear from you - are you the person in your family who focuses on capturing all the memories rather than existing in them!? If so, what do you think is the biggest thing that holds you back from being in FRONT of the camera? Let me know in the comments below (or feel free to shoot me through a DM if you prefer) @sisterscout_ @killerqueencreative See more

19.01.2022 5 WAYS TO TURN YOUR FAMILY PHOTOS INTO XMAS GIFTS THIS YEAR 1 BAMBOO PHOTO MAGNET SET from ARLO & CO. I ordered these for my dad and father-in-law for fathers day this year and they are such a fun gift idea and really beautiful quality (just be sure you order prior to midnight on 24th Nov to ensure they arrive before Xmas). ... 2 2020 wall calendars by Picture Postie - Photo Printing App I forgot to do these last year and was kicking myself, but I loved the calendars we had done for 2018 - I gave them to both sets of grandparents! This year I'll remember to order a copy for myself too! 3 Framed wall prints If you’re a client of mine, you have access to the professional print lab that I use you can order framed prints directly via your online gallery. The framed wall prints are SO stunning and of the highest quality. Any past clients are welcome to access the online store, feel free to shoot me a message if you have any questions about this. 4Framed collages by Memorable Moments App If picking just one or two images to frame makes your head want to explode, Memorable moments have a beautiful framed collage option which allows you to have multiple photos printed 5 Photobooks by Blurb Books This year we went on a family holiday to QLD with my parents, brother & sister-in-law and niece and nephew, so I am putting together a photobook of all our holiday happy snaps to give to our mum and dad. If you are putting together yearly photobooks for your family, ordering extra copies for the grandparents is another great gift idea. Afterall, what could they possibly love more than a book filled with beautiful photos of their precious grandchildren!? In my experience nothing!! (psst - blurb run a couple of 40% sales throughout the year - so if you're not in a rush, wait for those!) I really hope this helps and inspires you to bring new life to your precious family photos this christmas! If you love the idea of creating gifts with your family photos but need to get some updated images and you live in or around Melbourne, get in touch and let's book in a family or newborn photography session of your very own! I would also love to hear what gifts you're creating with your family photos this year, leave me a comment below and let me know Sister Scout Studio https://www.jessworrall.com//5-ways-to-turn-your-family-ph

19.01.2022 My favourite type of before & after

18.01.2022 I know that organising / booking / preparing for / and actually having a newborn photography session, might sometimes feel like it needs to go into the "too hard basket". Life with a newborn is busy and hectic enough (let alone if you've got other kids at home too!). But honestly, please believe me when I tell you it is *so so worth it*. This stage is so fleeting and having these memories to look back on as your babies grow is so priceless. I mean, look at baby Leo here, l...ook at those sleepy newborn cuddles, his little grin, those tiny fingers and toes the loved up bubble his beautiful family are in *worth it* Sneak peek for Rachel + Farid + Layla + Leo

18.01.2022 I think it's safe to say the ocean will forever be Patty's happy place Such a beautiful night spent exploring and playing with this wonderful, fun-loving little fam.

17.01.2022 My mission in life is to get more mums in front of the camera with their babies. The people who spend the majority of their time *behind* the camera - taking alllll the photos and documenting their little ones childhood. I think it's a fairly safe assumption to say that photographers are some of the worst culprits when it comes to sticking in their safe place BEHIND the camera - so it was such an honour to be asked to capture the gorgeous Kate from Kate Di Blasi Photography and her boys recently Tell me mamas, when was the last time you were in the frame with your babies!?

16.01.2022 Evie and Ellie..a little comparison photo from when we first got her to now... she's already 23kg and growing rapidly (the puppy, that is!). These two are total BFFs and ridiculously cute together

16.01.2022 PHOTOBOOK TIPS Earlier in the week, I shared on my insta stories some of my tips for creating photobooks and I got so many questions that I thought I would pop the answers into a post (don't forget you can save this post for later!) 1I use @blurbbooks - I always wait for them to have a sale (they quite often have 40% off sales) so you shouldn't ever need to pay full price!... 2I pay extra for Proline Uncoated Paper-it is WAY better than the standard paper 3I get the large landscape size book (which is 33x28cm) 4I include iphone photos & camera photos in the same book - apart from a "first year" book for each kid, I don't make separate books for both kids (in my mind, that just adds too much extra work!) 5You should use the highest resolution images possible (although iphone photos do print remarkably well when enlarged!) 6The hardest part IMO is culling your images and choosing the photos to include, but please don't let that stop you! I have more tips on how to organise your photos on my blog but the key is - BE RUTHLESS 7I organise the images chronologically, but don't include dates or captions when designing the books, because I knew it would take me too long - I decided I would handwrite captions once it was printed (but if writing is your thing, this is super easy to do!) 8Be mindful that photos often appear a little darker when printed - so most photos will benefit from increasing the brightness a little! I "auto-edit' all of my iPhone photos in LR, it's very basic, mostly just raising brightness/contrast and sometimes shadows/vibrancy 9I use the @blurbbooks software "BOOKSMART" to design the books. It's an old version of the software they use now and I find it easier to use than the new version. I don't use the LR plugin or smart albums. 10I tend to focus on organising/culling/editing/backing up images throughout the year and design the actual book at the end of the year once the photos are ready to go. For more tips on organising your images and creating family photobooks, there's more info on my blog but feel free to pop any questions you might have in the comments!

16.01.2022 Indra 9 months

15.01.2022 I always send my families a questionnaire before their session, to help get to know them a little better before we meet for the first time. It helps me to be able to break the ice a little with your kids, but most importantly it helps so much to make sure your session is tailored to you and your family. One of the questions I alsways ask is - What do you want to remember most about your lives right now? ... This wonderful family told me they want to remember being in the moment and being present with each other. They want to remember growing together as a family & learning to love each other more in the midst of busy days. Isn't that beautiful? That answer set the scene for our session together which in turn, makes for images that are that much more meaningful Sneak peek for the wonderful Shuqi + Stephen + Levi

15.01.2022 Outdoor photography in Melbourne metro is BACK We are officially listed as a permitted industry again after months of hibernation during lockdown. I cannot even begin to tell you how excited I am to be able to start rescheduling sessions with families who have been so patiently waiting over the past few months! Ensuring my clients safety during our sessions is my biggest priority. You can rest assured that I - ... Have a covid safe plan in place Will be wearing a clean face mask Will be sanitising my camera & gear before and after use And adhering to physical distancing Happily, photography clients have an exemption which enables them to remove their masks during photoshoots I’ll also be in touch with all my clients the day before their sessions, to ensure that we’re all feeling well and have no cold/flu symptoms or other COVID-19 risk factors. Currently (as of 23/10/20) I am able to travel to wherever my clients are located (even if this requires me to leave my 25km radius), however clients must remain within their 25km radius. I don’t know about you, but I’ve really loved exploring our local area during lockdown - i’ve discovered so many local gems that I probably otherwise would have never visited. Here's a little sneak peek from my first shoot back on Wednesday night! The full session is over on my blog I’m currently booking sessions for March 2021 onwards, so please get in touch if you would like to chat about your own family or newborn photography session https://www.jessworrall.com//photography-in-melbourne-is-b

13.01.2022 I was lucky enough to travel up to Sydney for this extra special newborn session over the weekend. Jess & I have been friends since primary school (let's not go into how long ago it was when we first met OK!?). Now, please don't tell her I said this, but she's actually one of the smartest & most hilarious people I have ever met and every single memory I have of us throughout our childhood involves being doubled over with laughter. So being able to capture her and her equal...ly awesome husband Lenny as they welcome beautiful Theodore into the world was the SO very special!! Welcome to the world Theodore - you hit the jackpot with this family (if you scroll through to the last photo, you'll see that it's quite clear baby Theo has already realised this!) Sneak peek for Jessica + Lenny + Theodore

13.01.2022 Soooo... we were *that* family that got a puppy during covid lockdown...introducing, Evie Loveheart Worrall (I'll let you work out which part we let the kids choose )

13.01.2022 A little sneak peek of the newborn session i'm sharing over on my blog tonight - with the lovely My Hidden Forest and her gorgeous little fam If you want to check out the rest of this session head over to the blog - if you're keen to book in your own newborn session in 2020, I only have limited availability left for the remainder of the year, so please get in touch as soon as you can www.jessworrall.com//melbourne-newborn-photographer-charlie

12.01.2022 I know how disappointing it was for so many families when their newborn sessions had to be delayed due to covid restrictions. And I completely understand why many parents would feel like they have missed out if they didn't get their photos taken in those first few weeks, but I hope these photos of (nearly) 3 month old Wells, remind you that *every* stage is so special and worthy of documenting This was supposed to be a newborn session, originally scheduled for back in March.... I have no doubt that would have been beautiful, but getting photos once your little ones personality is really starting to shine, once they are smiling at you, once their bond with you has had time to grow I know that as a parent, those photos are going to be treasured JUST as much! So, if you’ve had a baby in the past couple of months and missed out on newborn photos, please get in touch I’m scheduling sessions again and have availability from June onwards. Sneak peek for Linsey, Simon and Wells

12.01.2022 Welcome to the world sweet baby Harry Sneak peek for the lovely Sam + Craig + Wyatt + Harry

12.01.2022 Baby Charlie 5 weeks old

12.01.2022 Something you might not know about me, is that I never studied anything related to photography - I actually went to uni and became a social worker. I worked for a number of years in youth mental health and the asylum seeker/refugee fields before I had my daughter. And although at first glance it may seem like all that money I spent on my uni degree and the years spent studying were wasted, I truly don't believe they were (if not just for the fact that many of my favourite pe...ople in the world I would never have met if I didn’t study social work!) Ultimately though, my social work background and values have shaped the person I am now and the way I run my photography business and I wouldn’t change that for the world. One of the biggest cross-overs of social work and photography? For me it has been the focus on connection. In social work, a huge part of my role was working to develop a positive connection with my clients to develop a relationship where they felt valued, respected and heard. In photography? Well, that’s pretty much the same. And I really believe that having a non judgemental and empathetic way of working as a photographer has enabled my clients to be their true selves and open up and relax with me which ultimately, reduces that awkward / stiff feeling and creates the most beautiful and natural photos! So now tell me, are you doing something completely different with your life now than what you always thought you would ? Let me know in the comments! Shout out to the freakin amazing Soph Sister Scout Studio for this photo of me

12.01.2022 So grateful for WONDERFUL families who share feedback like this from their sessions "Thinking about booking a family photoshoot in?? I vote 100% do it! You won’t regret having memories like these Am I right? I didn’t do these types of photos with Ella and I totally regret it now. If you’re in Melbourne I’d highly recommend Jess Worrall Photography Not only is she crazy talented, she is also amazing with kids. We chose Jess because I love how natural her photos feel, somet...hing we will definitely treasure forever" Thank you SO much My Hidden Forest for such kind words - it was my absolute PLEASURE! And just a little note, I'll be catching up on emails once I'm back in the office (ie. my dining room table) on Tuesday, so if you have emailed me over the last couple of days - thank you for your patience!

12.01.2022 Where do I even begin with Courtney Holmes Films and Photos Kylie Purtell - Capturing Life Allison Redmon Photography & the Filming Life Academy These women have inspired me for years, the films they create for families i've never met before make me cry on a regular basis, i'm not exaggerating... I signed up for theFilming Life Academy keepsake challenge because I wanted to try and learn a few basics of filming, with the hope that *one day* in the future I might be able ...to start creating some films for our family. Never in a million years did I expect to actually complete my keepsake film during the 9 day challenge. There are plenty of technical flaws and things I wish I would have done differently, but seriously - I know in a few years (hell, probably a few months) none of that is going to matter and i'll just be so glad to have this! I'm so so happy that I finally prioritised this (I suppose I have lockdown 2.0 to thank for that!). Being able to learn from these incredibly inspiring women, the depth of knowledge, creativity, heart and soul they have put into the keepsake challenge is honestly beyond anything I expected. Thank you guys!!

11.01.2022 My last newborn session for the year Being able to capture so many beautiful moments like these throughout the year for all of my wonderful clients? I feel *incredibly* honoured and so thankful Sneak peek for lovely Liz + Scott + Tommy

11.01.2022 Outdoor sessions are in full swing as the weather warms up and days get longer (though Melbourne continues to keep us on our toes with it's ability to squeeze four seasons in one day!!) - I only have 4 more weekend session dates remaining until the end of the year - so if you were wanting to book in an outdoor session in 2019, please get in touch A little sneak peek from the most fun filled session on the weekend Natalie + Daniel + Reuben + Finn

11.01.2022 It's no secret that in-home family sessions have my heart! But when that home is the first place you ever live together, the place you exchange your wedding vows, the place you bring your first child home to AND the place you will be moving away from in a few short weeks - well then, that is EXTRA special! It was such a pleasure to be able to cature Catherine, Jason & Ella in their first home and in the neighbourhood that they have grown together as a family in as they prep...are to move on to start their next chapter together. Sneak peek for the lovely Catherine, Jason & Ella I am currently taking bookings for February/March onwards, so please get in touch if you would like to capture your own family at home

10.01.2022 I've got a photoshoot coming up in a couple of weeks with the wonderful Rudie Nudie Designs If you or anyone you know has a 5-8 month old baby and would like to be considered to be part of the colourful, fun shoot, make sure you get in touch with Jacqui from Rudie Nudie Designs (details below)!

10.01.2022 A little bit of magic from Saturday night... we had to reschedule this session the first time due to awful weather, but I *knew* it would be worth the wait... and wow, was it ever!! Sneak peek for Liz + Scott

09.01.2022 I mean, come on. It's amazing I don't have 1000 babies of my own when I'm subjected to these levels of adorablness during my day job!! Sneak peek for the wonderful Lauren + Andy + Penny + Winnie

09.01.2022 Hey mums This is just your friendly reminder to make sure your existing in photos WITH your babies during these .*tries to think of a slightly less overused word than "unprecedented"* unprecedented times! The stories of how we got through the strictest lockdown in the world and the photos from this period of our life, really will be passed down through the generations. It's incredibly tough going right now, I know. But YOU deserve t...o exist in these memories mask and all (because, that’s our real life right now, right!?). So hand your phone/camera over to your partner or use the timer function on your phone. It really doesn’t have to be perfect! (though I’m pretty sure, if YOU are in it, it’s going to be absolutely priceless to your kids and future grandkids in the years to come!) by my very best friend @dan6559 during our covid-safe/legal within-5km-radius-less-than-2-hour-within-curfew-recreational-catch up See more

08.01.2022 Sometimes when I get enquiries for newborn sessions, families ask me whether it is possible to include their older children in photos... Let me just respond to that question with a few photos from a recent session with the lovely Sue Yee Tan and you can try to guess the answer If you are expecting or have had a bub recently and would like to chat more about your own newborn session, please get in touch!

08.01.2022 In home sessions have my heart

08.01.2022 2019 2018 2017 I had zero intention of recreating photos of Dan in this same spot each year.. but every winter the light in our front doorway is so beautiful I naturally gravitate towards taking photos there. When I was editing this most recent photo yesterday, I remembered an almost identical shot last year .. and then when I went looking through my hardrive, I found another one from 2017.. and now all of a sudden, I’ve found myself doing a yearly dan in the doorway project

07.01.2022 Always an absolute blast shooting for the amazing W I L D w a r r i o r s

07.01.2022 Just a reminder for all the families who are missing out on newborn photos over the next 6 weeks, during lockdown 2.0 in Melbourne. Every age & stage is SUPER adorable and so so special to have captured! Just because you can’t have photos done within the first couple of weeks, doesn’t mean you won’t end up with photos you will treasure forever and to prove it, I’ve gone back through some older sessions and found a bunch of bubs that I have photographed at different ages. ... I think you guys would probably agreethese moments are JUST as special as the brand new, newborn photos Starting with Isla (3 months) and swiping across - Izzy 5 weeks Oscar 6 weeks Isla 2 months Sophie 3 months Surya 3 months Wells 3 months Tex 6 months Clarke & Sophie 6 months Ella 11 months So if you’re bummed out to be missing out on newborn photos you have every right to be!! But don’t forget, you’ve got many more precious moments to capture in the months ahead, and I would love to be able to do that for you! Shoot me through a DM if you’d like me to pop you on my waiting list for a session once I re-open after lockdown

07.01.2022 I've been so incredibly fortunate throughout my (almost) 4 years in business, to have had families that trust me to capture their precious family memories year after year (after year)! I've photographed this wonderful family 4 times now over the years (I even photographed Koa's birth!) - seriously, it's just like hanging out with old friends who have known each other forever. This was how we spent our Saturday night...exploring, laughing, getting soaked by waves... you can see why I love my job so damn much, right!?

07.01.2022 I know there are a million and one reasons when you have a newborn to avoid getting front of the camera. You're overwhelmed, tired and anxiously trying to work out all the things your new baby is or isn't doing (no...? just me then??). The.very.last.thing you feel like doing is having a photographer come into your space, getting alllll up in your area with a camera pointed at you. Well, that was me anyway. That was how I felt. Everything was either leaking or hurting. Our bab...y didn't sleep (like *ever*). Breastfeeding required a fortress of pillows, towels and creams. I had ZERO idea what I was doing and felt completely out of my depth... I wasn’t feeling like myself and as a result, I had no professional photos taken. That's what makes me so passionate about what I do now. I don't want other new mums to make the same mistake I did (twice!). I want to make the whole newborn photography experience as easy and relaxed as possible for you. I get that when you're in that newborn haze, it might all seem too difficult but I can PROMISE you there will come a day where you thank your past self for making the effort to capture those memories. I still have newborn session availability for December and early 2020 in and around Melbourne (sessions take place in your home on a Tuesday, Wedensday or Thursday) please get in touch if you would like some more information or to book in. 06.01.2022 It's funny whenever people enquire about maternity photography sessions (or any photo sessions really!), one of the biggest things that holds them back is the worry that sessions will feel forced, overly posed or, for lack of a better word, painful! I always try to reassure the families that book with me, that I do everything humanly possible to make my sessions as relaxed and fun as possible! I'll always guide & prompt people a little bit so they don't feel like they're ju...st standing there and have no idea what to do (because I know how awkward that can make people feel!), but ultimately, I just want to capture you and your growing family in the most natural way possible - so you look back on the photos and can remember how much FUN you had together! Take a little look through some of the photos from this magic maternity session over the weekend to see for yourself... we had SO much fun together and the result is so many joyful & love filled images for this beautiful family to treasure forever! Sneak peek for the wonderful Narin + Simon + Ella

06.01.2022 If only there was some way to tell how little Lucy feels about becoming a big sister.... Newborn sessions are extra special when they are with your best friends - congratulations guys!! Sneak peek for Masha + Craig + Lucy + Billy

06.01.2022 Do you struggle to get your kids to smile naturally for a photo!? If you're yelling out "say cheeeese" or "smile at the camera", you're probably not going to get the most natural or relaxed smile. If you want a more genuine smile, I would suggest you avoid bringing any attention to your camera/phone at all.... I find the best way to evoke a natural smile is to just simply start talking to them about something they love OR remind them about something they did that made you or them super proud. Telling them how much YOU love them or something that they did today that made YOU feel super proud (start snapping as you're talking to them to catch their reaction) is also a wonderful way to capture not only a beautiful smile, but also a photo that tells a story and carries real meaning If you would like some more ideas on how to get your kids to smile naturally for photos, check out one of my most pouplar blog posts of 2019 20 tips to get your kids to smile naturally in photos https://www.jessworrall.com//my-20-tips-to-get-your-kids-t

02.01.2022 Earlier in the week I was lucky enough to be able to capture the newborn bubble for the delightful Sue and her sweet family. Sue is a talented family & newborn photographer herself, so it was such an honour to be asked to capture this stage for her - it was SUCH a beautiful morning (do you get the feeling big sister Sophie is completely in her element in her new role!?) Welcome to the word little Samuel, what a lucky little boy you are to be surrounded by so.much.LOVE Sneak peek for Sue + Stephen + Sophie + Samuel

02.01.2022 GALLERY WALL TIPS Earlier in the week, I decided that it was time that I created a new gallery wall in our hallway (fairly sure my husband curled up into the fetal position after he heard that). I shared an i-Phone snap on my instagram stories of me experimenting with some different photo layouts (I grabbed a bunch of different sized frames that I already had on display around my house, and lay them all out on the ground to try and get an idea of what different layout option...s would look like) After I shared this image, I got SO many DMs with questions around where I get frames / how I put together gallery walls etc, I decided to put together this blog post answering all the questions in a bit more detail (full disclosure, I’m no expert on this topic - but I have a hell of a lot of photos up on our walls, so I’m just sharing what has worked for me over the years!) So if you're interested, click through to my blog post and please let me know if you have any other questions! I'll update the blog post with any additional questions you have as they come through :) www.jessworrall.com///7/22/gallery-wall-tips-amp-questions
