06.01.2022 We are delighted to announce the completion of the Bridge of Happiness in Cambodia, Siem Reap! The new bridge provides easy access to the villages on each side of the river, as well as gives people safe access to the river for bathing. According to Fr Totet Banaynal SJ, the parish priest of St John the Apostle Catholic Church in Siem Reap, the bridge is a happy place where local people now congregate together for conversation and friendship. ... The bridge opened on the same day that Pope Francis released his latest encyclical, Fratelli Tutti which promotes fraternity and social friendships amongst all people. The Bridge of Happiness is living out Fratelli Tutti by bringing communities together.

02.01.2022 Last month, 270 students at the Campion Institute in Yangon, Myanmar celebrated its 15 year anniversary online. We are filled with joy and hope. It is stunning to see how young people can adapt and find ways to build friendships during this pandemic, said Fr. Pius Than Naing Lin, SJ. By providing high level English courses, The Campion Institute accompanies Myanmar’s youth to navigate beyond decades of oppression, displacement of Indigenous people and under-resourced healthcare and education.

01.01.2022 Xavier Jesuit School in Cambodia has reopened for students in grade 9, after flooding waters forced the school to close. Images from last week show staff and students arriving to school by boat. The flood has spoiled many rice fields, damaging the livelihoods of many Khmer villagers. However, the Khmer people demonstrate their resilience, by prioritising education and even playing in the flood waters.
