08.01.2022 The Bushfire Danger Period has been brought forward and will now commence on 1 September 2019 in the Lower Hunter. From that date fires in the open will require... a permit in accordance with the Rural Fires Act and, for the Cessnock LGA, the City of Cessnock Control of Open Burning Policy (Dead & Dry Vegetative Material). Permits may be obtained through the Rothbury Brigade Fire Permit Officers - Rex Talbot 0481 482 284 and Simon Rofe 0419 338 429. The issue of fire permits is not automatic depending on individual circumstances. It is also possible that the granting of permits throughout the Lower Hunter might be suspended due to the dry conditions. If the occurs we will advise further. See more
