It’s also a timely reminder that if any parents want to assist in being a team manager this season please contact me directly & I can provide further details. As the Altona Bay Basketball Association is still working out the season, we are not asking anyone to pay season fee’s until further notice. All that is required is a payment of a Basketball Victoria membership. This will cover you for a total of 365 days once the season actually starts. If a player with a membership has already paid, the player will NOT need to purchase a membership renewal when registering. Just ensure you use the same details you previously registered with. One of the benefits of getting the membership now is a player will be covered for insurance purposes when participating - this even includes the pre-season period as a result of the grace period. We welcome all new & returning players to our growing club we have missed everyone

11.01.2022 Hi Fam Please read the following carefully: With the latest update from the Victorian government masks are now mandatory in all indoor settings. Anyone over the age of 12 entering ASC must wear a mask at all times while in the venue. Coaches and players/ referees are only exempt while their games/training are on. This Is in addition to the already required below: Players/Parents... * You must arrive 10 minutes prior (not earlier or later) to your game ready to play. Facilities at the stadium are limited to the canteen & toilets only. No changing rooms. * Each child is limited to one parent/guardian or carer only * Prior to entry to the stadium please scan in via ASC QR code using your mobile phone then sanitise your hands. * You need to bring your own drink bottle and towel. * You need to move directly to your courtand be ready to play immediately. * No high fives, or hugs or shaking of hands before or after the match. * Players need to be seated with the coach in the designated area adults must be social distancing. If they cannot then a mask needs to be worn. See more

09.01.2022 Hi Jet's Team, The following is on behalf of the Altona Gators: As we prepare for the 2021 Representative Season, we wanted to touch base to ensure any Jets players interested in joining Altona Gators are provided the below information. At this stage, due to COVID-19 restrictions we are unable to confirm the exact dates for junior try-outs however they are likely to occur prior to the end of the year. The attached information booklet provides further information about represe...ntative basketball and the try-out process. We are requesting players who are interested to try-out registered at the following link: https://forms.gle/dnggBc6DtJutM6CNA For players who have not previously played representative basketball, we are running a Rep Ready Program. This is an annual program run by experienced Altona Gators Coaches for Under 12 and 14 boys and girls looking to take their basketball to the next level and get rep ready. It provides a great opportunity for domestic players to undertake specialist training and gain an understanding of representative basketball. The program will enhance players’ fundamental skills, decision making and game play and expose them to elite level training methods. Even if players are not entirely sure they wish to try-out, they are welcome to attend the program. 08.01.2022 MEET THE TEAM: We would like to welcome Amy Gerraty and Rebecca Santos to our Jets committee. Amy is a mother of two of our Jets boys, William and James. As a solicitor Amy brings knowledge and experience to her new role as the Jets secretary.... Rebecca is also a mother of two of our boys William and Harrison. Rebecca’s many years in school operations and administration make her perfect for the Jets Treasurer position. Amy and Rebecca join Sedale Threatt as President, Rodney Clifford as Vice President and Alicia Threatt as Registrar, to make up the Jets 2021 committee. 04.01.2022 Altona Sports Centre will be offering Altona Junior Domestic & Representative players the opportunity to return to Basketball in a 6-week conditioning program. The program will be under the professional guidance of NBL Hall of Famer Lanard Copeland. The program will commence on Monday 9th November . Each player can register for and attend only 1 session per week (6 total sessions) for $60 total. The sessions will be 45 minutes with 15 additional minutes allowed for cleaning and groups to exit (as per COVID safe guidelines) Age groups determined by age at 31/12/2020 Register at www.altonabasketball.com.au

02.01.2022 COACH SPOTLIGHT - DANIEL MACKENZIE We are pleased to have Daniel Mackenzie returning as coach of our Under 18’s for the upcoming Winter season. Daniel Mackenzie is currently playing Youth League Men’s Altona Gators team. Daniel is a local boy & has been in the ABBA & Gators systems his whole basketball journey. Having asked to tell us a little about his basketball journey Daniel shared the following: In my 10 your basketball journey I have been a member of the Bay City Laker...s, Men’s domestic teams & Altona Gators U18’s, 21’s & Youth League Team. Over the last 3 years I have received way more advanced coaching under Sedale Threatt Jnr & Rodney Clifford. While playing under them it made me realise that while previous coaches tried their best, I really had to develop my own skill set before they came along. Now I can have the chance to impact young men & help install the desire to want to get better while building their confidence & allowing them to have fun. I just hope I can provide the coaching the kids need at the young age of basketball that I never got Daniel-Mackenzie Although Daniel is relatively new to coaching basketball, his leadership while playing with the Gators & under Sedale/Rodney was clear to them very early on. His knowledge of the game and technical aspects allow me to play at the level he does and he can pass this information along to the next generation. We look forward to seeing Daniel & his Under 18 Roulettes develop together!
