22.01.2022 Advice from VMR Bribie: Towing a Jetski When towing a disabled Jetski at speed, there is a risk of flooding the engine with cooling water. The Yamaha Owners man...ual states: "Tow the watercraft at 8km/hr or less, otherwise water could flood the engine compartment or flow back into the engine causing severe engine damage." Seadoo states: "The maximum recommended towing speed is 21 km/h (13 MPH). This will prevent the exhaust system from filling with water, which may lead to water being injected into and filling the engine. If you have to tow the watercraft faster than the maximum recommended speed, clamp the cross over hose. (Sea Doo makes a special clamp for doing this)." VMR Bribie's recommendation: Consult your Jetski dealer, and have them install a tow valve or supply you with a hose clamp (and instructions) for towing. We do not recommend that you DIY the valve - there are just too many pipes in there! Have a safe day on the water!
