25.01.2022 Happy International Nurses Day! Our Jetstar family want to send a big thank you to our wonderful nurses and frontline health workers today, and every day. Today is an extra special day for Jetstar cabin crew member and former nurse Keita. In her family, 16 women over three generations worked as nurses including Keitas sisters, mother, aunts, grandmother and great-aunts.
24.01.2022 Its all in a days work for Lisa and Rebecca to manage wild weather and engineering issues to make sure you arrive at your destination safely. Lisa is part of the team at QantasLinks Regional Operations Centre (ROC) and Rebecca Nunn works in the Jetstar Operations Control Centre (JOCC). Our teams are often described as the central nervous system as we work 24 hours per day, 7 days per week. Were-connected together by delivering the schedule we promise to our customers. ... It takes the smallest disruption of weather somewhere in the network, an unexpected maintenance update or a change in crew rostering for our schedules to change. There is so much going on behind-the-scenes, but our priority is always getting our customers to their destinations safely and on time. As the first female manager in the Qantas ROC Team, Lisa describes her role as a fulfilling and challenging one for women. When I started 14 years ago, there was only one female Operations Controller in the region but I was provided with an equal playing field and a supportive team which has enabled me to get to where I am today. Lisas advice is: As women we always tend to think that we need to tick every box before applying for certain positions. However, I think that if you are passionate about the role and are committed in giving things your all the opportunity is there for you to take regardless of gender. For Rebecca, her four years in the JOCC has given her confidence to take on new challenges. I would encourage young girls to never let rejection stop them from following their passion. If at first you dont succeed, find another way. Rebecca says International Womens Day is an important opportunity to reflect on the achievements of women. Female leaders can be great leaders alongside male leaders. It isnt necessarily years of experience that achieve success; it is about working hard, remaining true to yourself and standing up for your beliefs whilst respecting everyone in the process. #IWD #InternationalWomensDay #EachforEqual

11.01.2022 We recently took one of our 787-8 Dreamliners for spin on a "validation flight". Performing these short validation flights is an important part of our maintenance and storage program for each of our Boeing 787s. After each aircraft completes the validation flight they are returned back into storage. This is part of the steps we follow to make sure our fleet of 787s are well looked after and ready to take back to the skies with our customers on board in the future. 09.01.2022 This was our first holiday together as mother, daughter and grandchildren. The boys know both Mummy and Grandma work for Jetstar, so I think they were looking forward to being on the plane as much as the trip! The excitement was all over their faces, they were saying, wow, were going on Mummy and Grandmas Jetstar plane. Singapore was our first stop where we explored Sentosa Island and the theme parks. We also visited Kuala Lumpur and Bali where the boys enjoyed moped rides and the beach. Its a special travel memory. Although very tiring for Grandma, I enjoyed every moment of being with my daughter and grandkids. We look forward to the next one as they get a bit older.
