25.01.2022 April Challenge of the Month is here! Trap Bar Deadlift 20 Complete Reps Max Weight Wins... This month we are looking for the heaviest weight you can use for 20 complete reps of a trap bar deadlift. Good form is essential for this one, if you are unsure on how to do this ask your friendly team members for help. Posterior chains engage! Hips and knees must fully extend at lock out. Shoulders must stack over hips and knees. Both plates must touch the floor between each rep. Bar must say in motion (touch and go). No resting on the ground. Hands must remain on handles the entire set. Tag us! #Jetts Always prioritise good position, particularly on high volume deads. If you feel your back take over the lift, stop the set. Ask for help if you are unsure of technique.

23.01.2022 If you're not sleeping well, or long enough at night, use these tips to improve the quality of your rest to ensure you get more of that precious REM sleep. We all have different amounts fo sleep we need, but 6-8 hours is optimal! Start by allowing your body enough time each night to rechargeestablish a healthy sleep routine by going to bed and waking up around the same time each day. When you have a regular wake time, your body actually begins the process of waking up long b...efore your alarm sounds. Ensure your bedroom is dark enough to maintain uninterrupted sleep and try to make sure it's quiet! Shhhh! That includes mental chatter: don't try and solve tomorrow's problems, bed time is for sleep! Turn your phones off at least an hour before bed. The screens promote wakefulness, so don’t get into the habit of scrolling through the 'Gram for too long in bed. Wind down with some gentle music, some real life *conversation*, some light reading or if your palms are sweaty even at the thought of being separated from your phone then find a sleep meditation app that works for you. You cant get around this fact and no workout, supplements or even drugs will pack muscle on your body if you arent eating enough. TRACK YOUR INTAKE In order to apply this advice, you must learn to track your food so that you know ...definitively how many calories you need. If you dont do this you are guessing at best. PROTEIN I usually round up for hardgainers to 2 grams of protein per kilo of bodyweight. In other words, if you weight70 kilos you should aim for 140g of protein per day. Once you hit that 2 grams of protein per kilo of body weight goal, eat extra calories in the form of carbohydrates and fats. Once you figure out your total calorie goal, try to get at least 30-40% of your calories from carbs. Example 70kg male should consume 3000 calories a day (12,500kj) which is roughly 225 to 300 grams of carbohydrates per day. FATS Dont be afraid of fats! Eat them up! My recommendation is to make fat account for about 15-30% of your calories. Example This means a 70kg male who is consuming 3000 calories (12,500 KJ) should have 50-100 grams of fat a day. Regular exercise plays a huge role in keeping us mentally well. It releases feel-good chemicals like dopamine, endorphins and serotonin, helping to improve mood and reduce stress and while our usual methods of physical activity may be temporarily unavailable there are still ways to stay active.... If you usually go to the gym, try adapting your workout for home or use one of the many free exercise classes online. Walking is also a great way to reduce stress and anxiety, stay fit and boost our immune system so were less susceptible to infections. Provided you practice physical distancing and stay the appropriate distance apart from other people, a brisk daily walk is good for the body and mind. Spend time outdoors, where its safe to do so. Box squatting is arguably one of the best movements for your body and a movement we use almost every day sitting up and out of our chair, toilet or under a barbell and it's something we need to practice. Not only does box squatting carry over into a lot of other movements in your workout, but it's also helps with muscle growth in your lower body and nervous system development. In short, having a box under your squat means you can't rely on momentum to lift or lower your squat. This means you have to generate a lot of power and all of a sudden.
