25.01.2022 ARE YOU PARALYSED BY FEAR Where are you looking? Forward or back? Focusing on ‘what if’ or ‘why not’? When we face great adversity, we can get caught up on the challenge, grief, fear, guilt or angst. And that’s ok.... But I truly believe everything has a lesson, even in the worst of situations. So I encourage you, to foster that lesson. Big or small, move forward with it to GROW and EVOLVE your true being. For as long as you let your past dictate your future, you will not move forward with true congruency in who you are meant to become. I have faced more adversity the the last 12 months, than I could have imagined. And a worldwide pandemic has just been the cherry on top. But you know what, I wouldn’t change any of it. My lessons. I’m more resilient (or stubborn) than I actually realised I find clarity amongst chaos - I am now much more clear on what I want and don’t want Stop waiting to take leaps of faith - albeit scary, some of the best things happen when you do I am fiery I needed to learn to become a better communicator for ME and my happiness I let my self worth slide and that’s that NOT ok The pendulum ALWAYS has to swing back the other way So let go of fear and GO GET IT GIRL! Don’t let adversity (or anyone) stop you. Take it on head first and focus on the NOW. Not yesterday and not tomorrow. Tell me, what leap are you going to take?



22.01.2022 FAT LOSS REALITY VS EXPECTATION Just a reminder that fat loss comes in stages. It’s never necessarily going to be linear. For example; we can breakdown 6kg of fat loss into a target of -500g per week over 12 weeks, which works on paper. ... HOWEVER. What other contributing factors do we ACTUALLY need to consider. 1 HISTORY - was the individual already eating in a calorie deficit? How long for? Are they aware of their calorie intake? A LOT of women come to me unknowingly under-eating with impaired metabolic efficiency (which is a whole other post). 2 KNOWLEDGE - do they understand nutrients? There is a big difference between tracking calories/macros for weight management and actually optimising health through nutrient dense food choice. 3 START WEIGHT - How much weight an individual has to lose can influence rate of fat loss i.e. 22% BF vs 35% BF. 4 RELATIONSHIP - mindset or associations with food can also determine how I coach someone. Is someone; Super restrictive? Binging? In the mindset that less is more? Feelings of guilt? These all need to be addressed for sustainable, longterm fat loss and health. 5 HEALTH & BIO-CHEMSITRY - Health is ALWAYS my primary priority! Along with EDUCATION. It’s important my clients understand WHY I recommend something. This enables and empowers them to make healthier, more educated decisions. If someone is suffering from health complaints, it’s important we address these first. More often than not, fat loss will occur as a result. 6 LIFE - an equation on a piece of paper (-500g fat loss pw) doesn’t take into consideration the fact that we are HUMAN and LIFE happens. i.e. social events, periods of high stress, poor sleep, poor adherence, slip-ups, physiological imbalances etc. Make sure you set yourself realistic expectations and clear goals. 22.01.2022 DO YOU CONTROL CHRISTMAS OR DOES CHRISTMAS CONTROL YOU? All or nothing approach? Restrict then binge? Over-indulge then try to ‘work off’ calories?... Torn between ‘compliancy’ and ‘enjoyment’? Girlfriend, let me tell you.... I’ve been the girl at the Christmas family lunch, with the kitchen scale out, weighing food at the table. And hold the gravy, cause calories bro Would I do it again, HELL NO But was it important then yes.! Why? I had a goal (prepping for a bikini comp) and I owed it to myself and my own morals and integrity to commit. To me. To myself. But you know what’s SO different now? Well, most things but particularly my RELATIONSHIP with food and with myself. HEALTH is more important than being #dickskinlean I’ve learned CONTROL, which disabled the restrict and binge mentality. I know my WHY and what’s truly important at this point in my life. I’ve build up my metabolic capacity which enables me to have more room for indulgences. I stopped being governed by how I looked and shifted my focus to other aspects of health and life. Are you tired of constantly repeating the same patterns? Governed by thoughts or habits which DON’T serve you? You can change!! 20.01.2022 Want to know my BIGGEST PIVOTAL moments throughout my health and fitness journey Ironically, the ones which taught me WHAT NOT TO DO! Because through overcoming the adversity of fuck-ups came the biggest lessons to date ... Early 2014 > Late 2016 Insert novice, under-educated, highly motivated Bikini Competitor. Sole focus: ‘getting lean’. My entire life revolved around eating meticulously weighed and timed (boring as shit) meals and training x6-10 sessions pw during preps. AFTER 3 years of calorie restricting + off-season binging Never really being taught how to do a proper reverse diet Not even making it to stage in my third year of dieting I spent 2017 having to figure my shit out! I knew there had to be a better way My relationship with food was completely warped. My body was a hormonal mess. But most importantly I was exhausted of ‘CHASING’ and feeling like I couldn’t SUSTAIN my ideal body Anyone relate? What was Realistically sustainable VS self-imposed pressure? Restriction and guilt VS health and freedom? By 2018 I’d realised it was way more fun, and I got BETTER RESULTS, when eating for strength and performance I’ve always cycled in and out of a powerlifting, however I realised ALL my BIGGEST PROGRESS was made when I was lifting HEAVY and NOT RESTRICTING CALS My photos reflect exactly that. I figured out a SUSTAINABLE, FLEXIBLE, ENJOYABLE way of eating and training year-round which also provides me with the health, energy and a physique I love It’s this same method I teach and preach. 18.01.2022 IF YOUR CHEER SQUAD DOESN’T FAN GIRL YOU, YOU NEED NEW FRIENDS So here’s a little video of me today, in my happy place, doing my happy thing There’s a lot about the past 7 months of gym closures (in Victoria) which isn’t favourable. Trying to get amped up in your spare bedroom or cold AF garage, is not always so appealing.... But we are also a direct reflection of our own thoughts and environment. We are exactly where we are, because of every choice we’ve made to date. No one is coming to save you. You are in complete control of your narrative. If you don’t like it, CHANGE IT. I’ve taken a few leaps of faith lately (which I will be sharing and am so fricken excited about) and you know the only regret is that I didn’t do it sooner. Change the story you are telling yourself. 18.01.2022 SORRY SIS, BUT YOUR GOAL IS WAY TO VAGUE I want to be toned, I want to be fitter, I want to be stronger, I want to eat better, I want to be held accountable ... But what do you reeeeally want? Because if you don’t know, how exactly do I help? Stronger, like 150kg deadlift stronger OR Deadlift your own bodyweight stronger? How long do you think it will take? 18.01.2022 UH-OH, I'VE HIT A PLATEAU Have you been training but feel like you've hit that dreaded plateau and don't know what to change? I get it - training can become confusing. It goes without saying that Progressive Overload is important and commonly spoken about. PO or training isn't just about lifting heavier weights than last week. HELL YES I love being strong and watching the numbers go up and YES that will assist in growing shape and curves. BUT you a...re doing yourself a big dis-service if this is all you're focusing on. Progress doesn't work like that. You've got the program (hopefully). You've got the prescribed exercises, reps, sets, rests. So what else should we pay attention to; to grow, change, improve, PROGRESS...?! Mastering movement patterns. Understanding correct technique and mechanics. Developing positional awareness - identifying what feels right vs wrong. Accessing and achieving greater ranges of motion. Learning the principles of strength control and irradiation. Ensuring appropriate exercise section inline with goals (regress or progress). Strength or weight training is building a skillset and becoming proficient. But you have to walk before you can run bby - build from the foundations up. Not sure where to start? I individualise all my programming to the client. 15.01.2022 COMFORT ZONES & SAFETY = MEDIOCRITY UNCERTAINTY = UNKNOWN And shit yes that can be scary ... But uncertainty also equates to growth, lessons and resilience While it might be challenging now, just remember.... Every chapter has a lesson, if you’re willing to see it And it’s up to you, to choose what you do with it You can move forward, determined to keep growing You can stay still, sit in the moment because it’s safe You can do nothing, governed by fear and live life not knowing your full potential This year has been SCARY and fucking TOUGH. There really is not one thing in my life at the moment, that is the same as 14 months ago. Personally, professionally, financially, in my belief system I’d say everything is different and NONE of it I could have ever imagined or planned for. But, amongst the roller coaster Where I am right now, is perfect It’s not my final destination - it’s SO FAR from it BUT Everything that is happening now, Has to happen to get me where I need to be And it’s the same for you SIS The BS doesn’t define us It strengthens us It’s part of the process This year has been tough, but girl, you survived. 15.01.2022 NEED TUNING OR ALREADY IN TUNE? Our body is pretty damn cool. While it’s very adaptable, there are many feedback markers which can provide really useful insight into what’s going on on a deeper level. Knowledge is power, so understanding the ‘why’ behind things can be super useful. Below are some of basics to check your tuning:... Digestive issues? Did you know that under-eating can down-regulate digestion. Our body can become a little, let’s say lazy, at producing the stomach acid required to breakdown food. But it’s a double ended sword, because if we’re also under-eating, this can lead to nutrient deficiencies, particularly zinc which we need for HCL production. Low HCL more is also more prevalent in in vegans, vegetarians and low meat eaters. OCP also depletes zinc. Energy low early in your cycle? During menstruation, iron stores can become depleted, which is responsible for energy. If you’re suffering from a heavy or long bleed, or are vegetarian/vegan be more aware. Similarly to above, low HCL can also contribute towards low iron. Replenish those iron stores bby! Consume Vitamin C rich foods with your Iron rich foods for better absorption + keep away from tea and coffee (tannins inhibit absorption). Cravings or mid arvo slump hitting you? Consuming protein at every meal (and eating at regular intervals) will help stabilise blood sugar for steady energy throughout the day. Been feeding your arvo slump? Get outside for a 10 minute walk in the sunshine instead. Chances are you’ve created a habit, reaching for the cookie jar. Replace it with another task or more nutrient dense snack. 12.01.2022 GIRL, YOU’RE NOT PROGRESSING CAUSE YOU’RE EATING LIKE A BIRD Long term under-eating has implications and a cascade of health complaints. Complaints that many people won’t even necessarily correlate initially with under-consuming. So what are some of the things that happen as a result of prolonged periods of insufficient calories, in your dire bid to get your ultimate bod?! ... 08.01.2022 WHEN YOU REALISE THE UNDERLYING VALUE IN YOUR GOALS... And believe your true worth, your potential and emotional connection to the importance of your goals YOU WILL SUCEED!... The reason you aren’t taking the next step or fully achieving, is lack of emotional investment in your goals This is the reason always I ask, WHY. Why is that your goal? Why is it really important? What happens if you don’t achieve it? How will that feel? 1, 5, 10 years from now? What happens when you do? Girlfriend, are you sitting on the fence at the moment? You’re not unhappy but you’re also not kicking any EPIC goals which motivate you to jump out of bed. You want to actually feel sexy in lingerie for the first time in a long time? Have the energy to be an even better role model for your children? End the struggle with weight because you’re stuck on an emotional roller coaster or yoyo dieting? BUT the fire in your belly just isn’t ENOUGH, yet! I get it, sometimes we get a little content or stale But HOW LONG are you going to let it go on for? HOW BAD does it have to get before you commit to change? I might ruffle some feathers here... You sit on your ass all day but don’t consciously make effort to regularly walk You prioritise binge watching Netflix over quality sleep, yet wonder why your training isn’t getting you results You’ve got a 5 star rating ubereats, yet complain that you have poor digestion You cant afford to invest in a coach, to help you with the only body which transports you through your ENTIRE life, but you pay no attention to where you are ACTUALLY spending your money You’re scared to commit. But by NOT committing, you still aren’t entirely happy. You’re scared you’re going to miss out of life events, because you’re trying to find balance, but you keep letting life dictate, instead of just committing. 06.01.2022 SO MANY UNREALISTIC EXPECTATIONS This is what I see all the time when starting with new clients... ... You under-estimate how much you can achieve in 12 months... But over-estimate how much you can achieve in 12 weeks... You dis-credit the 1%-ers You expect that simply ‘turning up to the gym’ will get you there... You think you can ‘diet’ year round, unaware of the repercussions of starving your body And cardio is your number one fat loss tool (or torture) method You think that because you’ve committed to a change, life will clear a path free of obstacles WRONG! Hurdle number one approaches and watch as the reins come lose And I know this, because these are exactly the creases I help my clients to iron out and gain clarity around. 04.01.2022 READY, SPAGHETTI, SHOOT! Over the weekend I did a last minute photoshoot It was the first time I’ve done a shoot which I didn’t ‘diet’ or ‘prep’ for. I wasn’t in peak condition... I don’t have a popping 6-pack But I was so FRICKEN proud of where I’m at, that it allowed me to feel confident and capable! The morning of the shoot my weight was up higher than usual and for a few days I’d been feeling a little heavier than usual (week pre-period feels ) I could have totally let that destroy my mood, confidence and whether I looked ‘good enough’ to do the shoot But.... 1 Really, who determines ‘what’s good enough’ and; 2 Why would I let something so minor, destroy a last minute opportunity that presented itself? I’ve figured out how to live a balanced and healthy lifestyle that meets the needs of MY performance, energy and physique goals I’ve built it over YEARS - overcoming the adversity, learning from the lessons and learning to be consistent, not perfect It’s not only about eating and training, it’s about mindset and beliefs.
