23.01.2022 Laura’s ear is coming together so beautifully! Rose gold with light amethyst & CZ is such a vibe At The Piercing Urge, we have collectively working on Laura’s ear with @piercersuzanne re-piercing the first two sets of ear lobes, @willthepiercer adding the stunning Sarai Pear & I had the pleasure of piercing the high lobes! 15.01.2022 It’s learning time folks! Above we have one of our @neometaljewelry implant grade titanium posts that we use at @thepiercingurge Down below we have sad looking costume jewellery from a chain store that I removed from a fresh nostril piercing. I think a lot of the quality difference is pretty visible but I want to expand on this further You want your body jewellery to have a mirror finished surface, free from nicks, dings, scratches & made from biocompatible alloys ... The piece below is made from inferior alloys that has discoloured from contact with bodily fluids & can cause piercing tattoos. This is where the tissue absorbs pigment from the jewellery & heals leaving a black dot. Just like a tattoo! Implant grade jewellery is biocompatible. This means it’s safe & designed for lifetime wear with bodily fluids without any deterioration Due to poor manufacturing, the stone has already fallen out leaving a cavity for debris to build (icky!) It has also been made too thin which has caused it to excessively bend & become warped. This will cause damage to the tissue whenever moved resulting in scaring & grumpy piercings. A thicker, safer gauge will ensure the tissue can support the jewellery All of our jewellery is hand polished & individually inspected to make sure each piece meets quality standards instead of mass produced to an unsafe level You deserve jewellery that will last you a lifetime, not junk that will start to decompose after a couple weeks of wear. You’re worth more than that

12.01.2022 The bitterness of poor quality remains long after the sweetness of low price is forgotten. - Jim Ward This photo comparison is a perfect example of Jim’s statement! You can easily see the difference in quality. The piece on the right has been worn for under 4 months. On the left we have a stunning @bvla Alpha which is made with a lifetime quality guarantee. ... Why does this happen to low quality jewellery? Simply because they’re not made of biocompatible materials that are designed for lifetime wear inside our bodies. This usually happens to metals such as sterling silver & brass. Materials like these will quickly begin their journey of corrosion with daily wear & exposure to elements such as moisture, resulting in this green layer we can see called patina (a coating of various chemical compounds, which may be toxic. We don’t want this in our bodies!), discolouration & other decomposition. This corrosion is only one of the issues with the safety of this jewellery. The surface finish is very poor leaving extreme dings, burrs & tool marks from production. Due to low quality manufacturing we also have missing gems. The crevices will then collect dirt, become a breeding ground for bacteria & also damage the tissue whenever moved. Due to the low quality materials (& high nickel content), pieces like this are made from, most people will also suffer from some form or reaction such as excessive itchiness, redness & tenderness. Ensure the jewellery you’re purchasing is made from implant grade materials & safe to put inside us! Jewellery should last & look beautiful for a lifetime!
