18.01.2022 I was wondering where the tradition of saying to the groom "you may kiss your bride" originated..... well apparently it originated Roman times when it was assumed that the bride and groom had not kissed before the ceremony (personally I don't buy this), and then there is another school of thought that Priests would kiss the groom, to bless the marriage within the church, and then the groom would pass on that kiss to seal the contract of marriage. I just love these old traditions, but 1 thing I know as celebrant is it's always a great way to seal the commitment to each other xxx Hope you are all having a great Sunday x
