24.01.2022 #RideTheZIGZAGS ... One of the challenging things about being an Author and Speaker, especially this year, is the silent spaces that occur several months after the book launch ... after the congrats, the initial media reviews and positive feedback ... after those first few high sales months and speaking requests to promote the book ... then the spaces widen in between speaking gigs [CV19 killed much of that for me this year] ... and then you hear nothing - no feedback, no o...nline reviews, few mentions, few enquiries ... It's in those quiet times, I often wonder: do people still pick up my book - Rock Your Stripes and refer to the chapters that could really help them through the challenges right now? do they recommend it to others or pay it forward by sharing their copy? is it perhaps still sitting on some peep's shelves - unread as yet or half-finished? do participants at key-note addresses or workshops still think about what they learned ... did they do anything with the notes they took, or the handout material? After all - most of us write books and speak on topics we're passionate about to help others make positive changes in their lives. To make a bigger difference in this world. So ... how do you measure that? Well ... today - I got a nice surprise on LinkedIn. A video message from Kritika Kulshrestha, who attended the Masterclass I presented to an co-hort of leading ladies in India, back in May via Zoom - entitled 'Agility Matters' ... and she shared her take on two clear points: Ride the zigzags What's so great about 'normal'? Here's the link: https://www.linkedin.com//activity-6741564156496936960-iYZa THIS ... is why I do what I do. THIS ... is the deep hope I wrote about [in 2018] at the end of the introductory section of my book - Rock Your Stripes: "My hope is that you will be inspired to raise your own bar and design a life full of the opportunities you deserve to experience. May you add some excitement to your life and embrace the challenging zigzag pathways. May you be one of those awesome women willing to step up, stand out, speak up, and be the change our world is so desperately needing." Kritika ... is one of those. #RippleEffect #Testimonial #ZigZags #RisingUp
23.01.2022 #HMMM quote ... 28.09.20 Happy Monday - Mindful Moment Countdown ... I'm sharing the second-last quote in my book - Rock Your Stripes - #64 from the final chapter - 'Be Involved'. ... Women all over the world have been gathering in circles for centuries, to support each other and to make stuff happen. When you passionately believe in the need for changing the status quo and urging others to get on board the 'change-train', you can't keep all that to yourself. Frankly, I think I'd spontaneously combust if I didn't get out there and join with others to drive the changes we so urgently need in our society. Here's the thing: one activist can bang her own drum, wave her own placard, post her own social media quotes and rants, and make a loud noise ... but a whole group can turn an even bigger noise into actioning positive change. That's why I founded ElevateHER Australia - social enterprise to provide the supporting structure that sustains the creation of Lean In Australia - National Network. I urge you: Be an advocate for change. Find your activist circle or group. Support each other to change the world - TOGETHER. #HappyMonday #MindfulMoments #BeINVOLVED #LeanInAUS #ElevateHERaus #Circles

23.01.2022 #UnderTheRocks ... Feeling unwell. So no #OnTheROCKS Friday arvo reflections video today. Time for other R words like rest, recovery, rejuvenation time
23.01.2022 #OnTheROCKS Almost had my feet in the high tide water today to do my Friday afternoon #OnTheROCKS Reflection chat. It's been a great week for reflecting about the women who have lead change and paved the way for others like me to continue that important work. I share two particular quotes from feminist Ruth Baden Ginsburg - the notorious RBG, who died last week after achieving so much ... and reflect on what her wise words mean to me. ... Key take-aways being: True professionals, real leaders are those who do something outside of their own self-interests ... they are driven to fix issues that are tearing their communities apart or unfair ... they repair injustices ... they right the wrongs. Real change, lasting change happens when we focus on one thing at a time ... one big issue that when we concentrate effort to achieve that change, one step, one chunk at a time ... we achieve more than a scattter-gun, 'involved-in-everything' approach. What's one thing you can focus deep and narrow on, that would make a big difference for your community? Because ... that's real leadership. #LeanIn #WGEA #AGEC #WFEA #GIWL #ElevateHERaus #RockYourStripes
22.01.2022 #PaddlingLikeCRAZY ... Exactly what it feels like ... creative energy, high adrenalin, tactical decisions, sometimes getting somewhere, sometimes just paddling and churning around in the one spot. Friday comes around so quickly that today - my #InTheOFFICE reflections are that I need to drop doing this #OnTheROCKS video series for a while ... until the waves stop crashing in and I've paddled into calmer waters. ... Grateful for where I live and all that provides ... with sunrise stretches, evening beach path walks and night lap swimming. Yes - I'm still ensuring some healthy life balance, but just dropping the non-urgent priorities to ensure I stay on track. Connect again soon ... thanks for understanding.
22.01.2022 #OnTheROCKS ... Reflecting today on #EqualPayDay, and how trying to fix decades of women being treated unfairly and unequally in workplaces and society in general, is an overwhelming project for one, or even a small team. Team work and collaboration is what’s needed to drive real changes to:... ~ unequal structural practices ~ biased systems and processes ~ unfair societal expectations So, while this week we are celebrating the official registration of our nationally-focused social enterprise company ElevateHER Australia Ltd, one of the key drivers for expanding is to collaborate with other gender equality agencies, corporations and key players to make a bigger difference collectively. CONNECTION + EDUCATION + ADVOCACY together. Be open to the lessons. Be grateful for the opportunities. Be mindful of your limitations and how ‘team work makes the dream work’ faster. #EndofWeek #Reflections #RockYourStripes #ElevateHERaus #EqualityMatters
21.01.2022 #ShoutOUT ... In keeping with my #HMMM blurb this week ... all about standing out and making your mark ... I shared that we were refreshing our ElevateHER program brand suite to represent what has grown to become - ElevateHER Australia - our NFP social enterprise. Well ... here's a sneak peek ... we love the new bold 2 circle logo. ... Shout out to our fantastic team player - Leticia from Leticia Moran Creative. She's been with us on this epic 3 year journey of twists, turns and tweaks. Watch out for our ElevateHER FB page branding updates, finalised soon. There is no doubt that my high-energy sweet spot is fuelled and fired up when my two great passions: leadership and feminism are combined to drive much needed change. #ElevateHERaus #LeanInAUS #VitalLEADERS #RockYourStripes
20.01.2022 #OnTheROCKS This week’s Friday afternoon #OnTheROCKS Reflection beachside chat is all about being careful what we listen to and what we take on board whether it’s that BS internal voice or the belittling external voices from those who have their own motives and negative agenda going on. It brought to mind ‘The Starfish Story’ that I’d featured at the end of the Introduction chapter of my book Rock Your Stripes and why I [and other colleagues] share stories and exper...iences all about the ripple effect. Key thought-provoking points being: Be careful what you listen to and take on board Be choosey who you surround yourself with Speak up bravely, for the right reason because the ripple effect can be powerful. #LeanIn #WGEA #AGEC #WFEA #GIWL #ElevateHERaus #RockYourStripes
20.01.2022 #HMMM quote ... 14.09.20 Happy Monday - Mindful Moment There's a section in the Be INVOLVED chapter of my book - Rock Your Stripes entitled: 'STAND OUT - Make your Mark.'... I share a story about our 2017 company brand refresh, and how we intentionally incorporated our ElevateHER programs using the same branding font and colours, to ensure that clients were aware of our passion for equality and fairness, and to build consistency of alignment between my personal passions and our professional brand. On purpose ... a whole-hearted approach. Yes, with subtle Zebra striping. Then in 2019, my Jilinda Lee [professional profile] brand suite was also created to seemlessly connect; although I did go 'all out' [aka: full-arse version] on the Zebra effect theme. Subtlety is not my style. Interestingly as I write this, right now we are currently refreshing our ElevateHER brand to represent program growth into what has become a national social enterprise company - ElevateHER Australia, auspicing the Lean In Australia - National Network. Tweaking logos but still keeping that same strong alignment to our brand message, and consistency to our purpose. CONNECTION + COLLABORATION = COLLECTIVE strength. Heres the thing: It's always about connecting and collaborating to create a flow on effect, with a greater combined impact. When we join and grow together, we can make a bigger difference. Go out there and get INVOLVED. #HappyMonday #MindfulMoments #BeINVOLVED
19.01.2022 #HMMM quote ... 31.08.20 Happy Monday - Mindful Moment Brene' Brown's work has been a positive influence to many women in recent years. Not only as an Author, but her research work that supports her insightful books, inspirational quotes and now global programs. ... Several of her quotes are featured in my book - Rock Your Stripes, as they align with my own experiences, the strong beliefs I have from those, and our similar drive to change the world - collectively. Heres the thing: Real change starts with yourself, so by all means, do the inner core work, build your personal power and indentity, your independence and resilience muscle, negotiate better outcomes and be CEO of your own life. BUT - don't stop there ... use all that to make a bigger difference. REMEMBER ... It sucks to sit on the sidelines It's nuts to complain about the status quo or blame others - then choose to do nothing It's lonely being at the top of your game on your own Go out there and get INVOLVED. #HappyMonday #MindfulMoments #BeINVOLVED
19.01.2022 #SpeakingIWD2021 ... I'm excited. Right now, organisations are planning out their events and workshops for the first quarter of 2021, and one of my favourite times is the first week of March - IWD [8 March] and in Queensland - we really get into it with QLD Women's Week [6-14 March]. My excitement doubled when I saw the IWD theme for this year: #ChoosetoChallenge ... such music to my ears ... singing my change champion song ...combines all my favourite stories into one on-po...int theme - challenge for change. You see ... I've been 'pushing the envelope' all my life ... challenging the status quo from a young child, challenging the traditional expectations of women, wives, mothers and women in the workplace, challenging the acceptance of mediocre leadership behaviour, challenging the need to lead like a man [aka: 'manette'], challenging gender inequality ... and challenging the notion that you have to live in a capital city to be seriously considered for lead roles or national and global gigs. So, if you are looking for a dynamic and daring speaker, who'll share real and raw stories from a range of box-busting, challenging experiences for your IWD event ... send in your enquiries NOW. I have limited spots available - depending on location. https://www.jilindalee.com.au/speaker #ChallengeForChange #Dare2DISRUPT #BustOUTBoldUP #SheLEADS #UnleashingHER Queensland Women
18.01.2022 #HMMM quote ... 21.09.20 Happy Monday - Mindful Moment Soon after launching my book - Rock Your Stripes in June 2019, I started sharing these featured quotes from it each Monday ... working through the book from chapter one to ten; this quote is #63 and we're almost at the end of the final chapter - 'Be Involved'. ... There's an important, rather alternative point I make in this section ... about the difference between being 'involved' in everything, like: struggle to say 'no' to random requests, like secretary of your partners soccer club [because none of the blokes will do it] time keeper at school swim race every carnival [because most other Mums work full time] member of every community group and going to most business network events, because being seen everywhere and supporting everything is 'important' ... Ask yourself: REALLY? Is this a good use of my time? Is this something I'm passionate about, fits with my values and is helping me achieve current goals? Is my involvement and contribution really valued? Am I just ticking an accumulation box [number of events / networks I 'support'] ... or Am I intentionally contributing for greater good outcomes that are consistent with my purpose and bring me closer to my goals? Here's the thing: Being involved and contributing to society is important ... but just make sure you do an audit on WHAT & WHO you are choosing to be involved with, and use your time wisely. This year, I've significantly reduced my professional network memberships to be less about 'accumulation = importance' and more focused on where my contribution is valued, and where I can make a bigger difference. Time is precious. NOTE: There's a checklist of questions I've learned to ask myself before committing to network, business or community group involvement ... included on page 299 of my book. #HappyMonday #MindfulMoments #BeINVOLVED
17.01.2022 #HMMM quote ...17.08.20 Happy Monday - Mindful Moment Okay, so it's Tuesday ... as a Change Champion, I like to mix things up a bit. We've had two full-on strategic planning weekends, and taken Mondays off instead. ... It's refreshing to take a little break from the usual routine over the past 2 weeks, with more focus on planning of new programs and product creation, to help others rise up from the pandemic ... and less time on social media. I've also become more involved in big-picture discussions and future planning for the LeanIn.Org global movement [yes - lots of 1am meetings], as it fits with our plans for expanding the Lean In movement across Australia. Exciting times ahead. This quote is one of my all-time favourites, and for that reason I included it as a feature quote page [white script text on black background] in my book - Rock Your Stripes ...a segway to the final chapter - Be INVOLVED. REMEMBER: Words are cheap and intent is often misinterpreted. Actions can be inconsistent or reason misunderstood. But when you are genuinely involved for the greater good of our society ... to help others rise up and feel valued, deserving of living a full and meaningful live, confident to make positive changes and be accepted as unique individuals ... People will never forget how wonderful that feels. #HappyMonday #MindfulMoments #BeINVOVLED
17.01.2022 #OnTheROCKS ... Did you notice I missed doing the Friday arvo #OnTheROCKS reflections video last week? It wasn't just that I was away in Toowoomba - QLD assisting my elderly Mum, or that I was not near any rocks ... I had planned to do it, taken my equipment and fully intended to do it ... but the environment was all wrong! Yes ... that's the reflection I'm sharing today: ... ENVIRONMENT MATTERS. Key thought-provoking points are: Environment influences mindset Environment matters when it comes to meditation, reflection or head clearing exercises ... and especially when sharing thoughtful, inspirational messages. Covid 19 has highlighted how important it is to enjoy the environment you choose to live in or spend the majority of your time. Do you need to rethink your choice of environment ... going forward? I've become clearer on my 'must-haves' than ever before ... have you? Be open to the lessons. Be grateful for the opportunities. Be mindful of making the best choices, for your own health and wellbeing. #EndofWeek #Reflections #RockYourStripes #EnvironmentMatters #Choice #Mindset
17.01.2022 #WWWwisdom ... For Wise Wacky Wednesday wisdom share today, I'm posting this Forbes article about the importance of personal branding and Oprah's 10 rules to help you get that right. For me ... it's all about authenticity. Being YOU - totally and consistently in everything you do. Walking, talking, living your values, passion and purpose - and building your personal brand from that. ... Sure, sometimes the message can become messy or less clear when we make changes to meet new demands or opportunities ... but the important thing is to ensure everything you do can be narrowed down to a sharp pointy focus on WHY you do WHAT you do. The deeper intent and purpose. My passionately driven purpose and life's work is to help women step up, stand out, speak up, and lead the changes that creates a world of equal choices, chances and opportunities. What's yours? Would I know by checking out your personal profile or business brand? #ElevateHERaus #LeanInAUS #LeanInQLD #UnleashingHER
16.01.2022 #OnTheROCKS So there’s this woman you’ve just seen and she’s noticeably: Bold, brave, brash, loud, straight-shooter, passionate, progressive, dominant, results-driven, determined, impatient, tends to have that 'bull-at-a-gate' pushiness about her.... STOP! - check your inner thoughts ... are you starting to cringe, feel uncomfortable, think she is 'too much'? ... you know, for a woman? So ... she steps up to lead: ~ Will she be labelled too bossy, too ballsy, or a bully? ... you know, for a woman? ~ Will she be seen as a power-base threat? ... you know, too ambitious for a woman? But how is that cringe-worthy? How is that wrong? Isn't that the type of leadership we need? Courageous, willing to stand in the arena - alone if you have to, knowing that vulnerability is a strength, willing to challenge the status quo, to drive change, to make the tough decisions, to influence positive outcomes. Do you need to check your bias against strong, bold, brave, out-spoken women, who are passionate about having a seat at the decision-making tables? KEY POINT: Let's not judge women more harshly than we would a man with the same progressive ambitions ... the same desire to make a bigger difference for the greater good. #LeanIn #WGEA #AGEC #WFEA #GIWL #ElevateHERaus
15.01.2022 #OnTheROCKS ... Yes, it's a Monday morning and I thought 'why not'?, while out walking the beach. I missed doing the usual #OnTheROCKS reflections video on Friday arvo as I was a little 'under the rocks' [unwell] ... and I had something uplifting I wanted to share. Something I've been reading about while in rest and recovery mode over the weekend. From a book entitled: 'GRIT - Why passion and resilience are the secrets to success' - by Angela Duckworth. She talks about psych...ological assets that causes the maturity and strength of one's grit. There are four that people tend to develop in a particular order. 1. Interest 2. Practice 3. Purpose 4. Hope While reading more in the section about purpose, she talks about those who take purpose to a deeper level - a real 'calling'. That they don't just do a job or have a career, they see their work as a calling - 'something that makes the world a better place' ... linked intrinsically with their life's values, reason for being and leaving a positive mark or legacy in this world. It's like having a clear, narrow and deep purpose on steroids and permeates through everything you do. I know. I feel that with what I'm doing now - new projects and programs. So on-point. So focused on helping other women step up, stand out, speak up and lead the changes our society so urgently needs. It's driven from a deep core need to make a greater difference - collectively ... for the greater good. Love reading others perspectives. I've gained a new personal relevance on the word 'calling' ... despite being a word I previously had an aversion to due to past experiences. Be open to the lessons. Be grateful for the opportunities. Be mindful of of the choices you are making and what drives that. #NewWeek #Reflections #RockYourStripes #Reading #Choice #Mindset #Calling #Purpose

13.01.2022 #OnTheROCKS Tucked further back into my rocks studio on this wild, windy afternoon, to record this week's #OnTheROCKS Reflection video ... one I've been reflecting about all week, and determined to do in honour of three inspirational feminist icons who we've lost within one week: Ruth Baden Ginsburg - Associate Justice of the Supreme Court of the United States [I shared quotes from her last week] Susan Ryan AO - Our first Minister for Women in Australia... Helen Reddy - First Australian to top US music charts and win a Grammy award. They did so much more than that their titles indicate ... they spent their lives being strong advocates for equal choices, equal chances and equal opportunities. They've run their leg of the race and now have passed the baton on to women like me [and others] to continue the race until it's finished ... until the work is done and we have achieved equality for all genders. Embracing their examples of standing in that arena alone and leaning into my own vulnerability ... I do something I've not done for many years. Join me ... raise you voices ... you are women - let's hear you roar. #LeanIn #WGEA #AGEC #WFEA #GIWL #WLIaus #ElevateHERaus #RockYourStripes
11.01.2022 #RidingTheWAVES ... I'm still riding those creative waves ... each day is like a new high tide coming in, and just as quickly - the tide goes out and with it - the hours in the day - gone. Waves of excitement are definitely building the more content I create for each module of a new 8 month, tailored leadership advancement program we're rolling out in February 2021, for a large group of awesome women leaders. I'll share more on that soon ... when I can - officially ... One thing I felt this week ... a glimpse of the lighthouse in the distance [2021], a clear direction forward, and a new tide of pipeline waves that I can ride on above the surface, rather than under it. Connect again soon ... thanks for understanding.
10.01.2022 #OnTheROCKS SPONTANEITY ... is today's theme word for my Friday #OnTheROCKS reflections video chat. All about shaking up those boring routines and adding some excitement to your day. Like this video ... I was down at the rocks this morning doing my beach stretches and meditation, had my phone with me to capture the beautiful sunrise, and thought - why not? Why not record it now ... and share this beautiful time of the day.... You see, my partner initiated a discussion during our earlier walking time, about reviewing some of our routines. Stuff we've been doing the same way for a long time. Stuff that's become robotic and rigid, but not producing the results we both want. So ... I spontaneously over-shared in an inpromptu video ... sans makeup, videoing tool bag, and prep [and annoying camera-holding reflections in my sunnies]. Key thought-provoking points being: Review your robotic routines Shake it up ... even a little bit Be more spontaneous #LeanIn #WGEA #AGEC #WFEA #GIWL #ElevateHERaus #RockYourStripes
10.01.2022 #OnTheShelf ... Not travelled to Brisbane (or any capital city) since January ... couldn’t walk past QBD in Myer Centre without checking to see if my book - ROCK YOUR STRIPES was still on their shelves. Yes, it was! One left, and still displayed next to Mark Manson’s best seller - ‘Everything is F*cked’. ... Maybe because my tagline is ‘unleash your full-arse version’ ... so book sellers think we are both straight-shooting, truth tellers. Yep - that’d be right Yah ... still get a little buzz every time I see it.
09.01.2022 #OnTheROCKS ... Don't you love it when a plan comes together ... when you rise up from the pandemic pause [and other blockages] even more determined to drive the next phase ... when you realise to do that, YOU need to take a step back and encourage others to lead the way forward ... and by enabling new leaders, you get to focus on other, bigger more radical goals. Yes ... that's my reflection today, with a big satisfaction smile.... And ... it provoked further thought about leaders who stay too long in that CEO chair; perhaps still doing stuff the same way as they have. As organisations, projects, and programs go though phases, they often need different types / styles of leadership to take them forward. Key thought-provoking points are: have you been sitting in the leadership seat too long? is it time to encourage and enable others to take the lead? are your leadership skills, experience and wisdom better used in other ways? Be open to the lessons. Be grateful for the opportunities. Be mindful of making the best choices, for the greater good. #EndofWeek #Reflections #RockYourStripes #AwarenessMatters #Leadership #EnablingOthers

06.01.2022 #HMMM quote ... 5.10.20 Happy Monday - Mindful Moment Well here it is ... the final quote from the very last pages of my book - ROCK YOUR STRIPES - #65, I've shared from front cover to back in this #HMMM series since 1 July 2019. ... It's my female version of the great Theodore Roosevelt's famous and much orated quote: 'The Man in the Arena' ... only mine is for the woman who dares greatly enough to stand in that arena, to encourage HER to: Step up bravely Stand out boldly Speak up brilliantly and DARE to be her full-arse version, to: D isrupt ... the status quo A spire ... to her greatest version R each ... for her goals E volve ... keep learning and growing Please ... take a moment to expand the infogram size image, read this inspirational piece and share it with others who need encouragement to rise up and keep rising up from the knock downs ... and importantly - ignore those critics. #HappyMonday #MindfulMoments #BeINVOLVED #LeanInAUS #ElevateHERaus #Circles

04.01.2022 #HMMM quote ... 07.09.20 Happy Monday - Mindful Moment In the Be INVOLVED chapter of my book - Rock Your Stripes [the final element of my FAVE 5 formula], I wrote a section about being involved at any age, stage or phase. ... I mention: 'there's something about turning 40 that seems to spark a level of urgency in people [especially in women] to make significant changes in their lives ... like it's now or never.' I certainly felt that and remember reviewing my situation at the time and felt the heaviness of it. Like I had to get out of the energy-sucking box and make changes so I can do more, be more and make a bigger difference. I made a futher big change at 50. What's with those big reminder 0 birthdays? Oprah has famously shared: 'In your 40s you're just coming into it, your intellectualising things, you kind of know it and feel it. But there's a deepening, broadening and quickening of the knowing that happens in your 50s. Maya Angleou used to say to me: "the 50s are everything you've been meaning to be." By the time you hit 60, there's just no damn apologies left. You got no time for that. You know who you are, what you stand for, what's important, and what's not ... and life becomes a whole lot simpler.' But ... why wait until your 60s to think and feel so deeply, to be YOU and do the things you stand for, so purposefully ... so unapologetically. Imagine being like that in your 20s and 30s. Heres the thing: It doesn't matter what age, stage or phase you are in life. It doesn't matter what your background is, or even what your current position is. Being INVOLVED and influencing change is never about position. It's about purpose + passion + persistence [aka: pushiness]. Go out there and get INVOLVED. #HappyMonday #MindfulMoments #BeINVOLVED

In the EVOLVE chapter of my book - ROCK YOUR STRIPES, I urge readers to not only embrace change, but to grow their agility levels to be ready, willing, able to leap on new opportunities as they present ...to accept that there's no such thing as certainty, and that continual growth and openness to zigzagging - [change careers, move location, re-train, re-prioritise] allows you to unlock the chains and unleash your full-arse version ... that being able to ...re-invent and adapt to an increasingly changing world will be crucial for survival. I included a 2018 prediction from Chris Riddell - Global Futurist ... "The next three years will shape and define the next 100 in a way that we've never before seen in history ..." Isn't it ironic ... don't you think? I finished writing my book December 2018, launched it June 2019, then book promo tour, speaking gigs, expanded global reach, and months of planning big things for 2020 ... and WHAM! 2020 ... freakin' WOW! What a shake up ... and yet - what an amazing opportunity to reinvent. As a 'change champion', on a mission to urge women to step up, stand out, speak up and courageously lead change ... in my book and presentations, I share the valuable insights I've gained along a zigzag pathway of disrupting conservative restrictions, busting out of small-box confines, and how to smash the insidious need to compare, compete, copy or conform to 'the norm'. There is no 'back to normal'. Don't be sad about that. Don't be afraid of change. Be more afraid of NOT changing and missing the amazing chances to be and do something different.
