16.01.2022 Dear Jillian Fishing Trips friends On Saturday (9th February) the destructive wind and waves of Port Phillip Bay claimed another victim. This time it was too close to home. The Jillian, our iconic and much loved charter fishing boat who in her turn had been instrumental in saving the lives of so many yachtsmen and sea-goers on the Bay was washed ashore, with devastating consequences. We couldn’t save her and the best we could do was salvage what we could and clean u...p what we couldn’t. It was heartbreaking work, but with the help of our amazing friends, relatives and some wonderful people who we didn’t even know, the job was completed on the day. We have managed to salvage the damaged Pompei-built hull which tomorrow will be moved into storage. The response to this tragedy from our friends, our loyal customers (some of whom have been with us for many years), and members of the public has been overwhelming and we sincerely thank everybody for their support. We have had to do some serious thinking about what our options are, and we have decided to put our second boat, the Ashlea Rose into action to continue to give our customers the very best fishing charter experience possible. This will give us a bit of a breathing space to decide what to do. The Ashlea Rose is a smaller vessel, licensed to take 12 passengers, and will continue to operate out of Rosebud and Rye, so the fishing trip will still be the same as generations of people have come to know and love. Again, a huge thank-you to all those who came to our assistance, and to those who contacted us by telephone, Facebook and other social media. 05.01.2022 Welcome to the Sea Eagle Just in time for the school holidays we will be taking delivery of the Sea Eagle a 36 foot Pompei built timber charter boat. Unfortunately our beloved boat the Jillian was damaged beyond repair in February. We wanted to find a replacement as close to the jillian as possible. And were delighted to find the Sea Eagle which was built by the same boat builder around the same time.
