I have worked in the aged care industry for five years in a number of roles ranging from PCW, Registered Nurse working on the floor, ACFI Coordinator, Clinical Quality Support Officer and now my new challenge as Clinical Nurse Manager.... Where are you from? I was born in Sydney. I now call Brisbane my home after living here for 17 years but Im still a NSW supporter in State of Origin!! Why is the aged care sector appealing to you? The aged care sector is appealing to me because I have the privilege of working with our most vulnerable members of the community, providing care, love and support. What made you interested in working at Jimbelunga? I decided to apply for the job at Jimbelunga for a new and exciting challenge and to learn more about Aboriginal and Torres Straight Islander people and culture. Hobbies outside of work? Outside of work I spend all of my time with my family and my two adorable furkids, Mischa and Frank. Family is very important to me and we are all very close.

19.01.2022 Our nursing staff have received a greater understanding of residents living with dementia thanks to a recent virtual reality interactive experience. The nursing staff recently completed a workshop provided by Dementia Australia which allowed staff to see the world through the eyes of a person living with dementia utilising high quality virtual reality technology. Using the headsets, staff could view what it may feel like to experience dementia and ways to care for someone liv...ing with dementia. What a great example of how technology can be used to assist us to provide the very best care for our residents. #lookingafterourmob

Each year we celebrate the Australia Cancer Councils Biggest Morning Tea.This year we ran with a pink theme and enjoyed a delicious morning tea prepared by head chef Kevin. It was also wonderful to see everyone chipping in to raise money for the important work of cancer research.

13.01.2022 We paid tribute to our fallen servicemen and women on ANZAC Day with a moving ceremony including wreathes, poppies and lanterns made by our residents. Big thanks to our resident Ross for his home grown rosemary and lavender on the day. Stories were shared and memories were honoured with photos and medals on display. 09.01.2022 COVID-19 update for Brisbane, Ipswich and surrounds In response to recent positive COVID-19 cases, a range of measures have been put in place for the belo...w local government areas across greater Brisbane, Ipswich and surrounds. Brisbane City Ipswich City Logan City Scenic Rim Somerset Region Lockyer Valley Moreton Bay Redland City The below measures come into effect immediately: Gatherings in private homes and public spaces will be restricted to a maximum of 10 people. These limits do not apply to businesses operating under a COVID Safe plan. Residential aged care and disability accommodation facilities have restrictions on visitors and residents leaving the facility Hospitals have been asked to restrict visitors as soon as possible Hospital emergency departments, aged care facilities and disability accommodation facilities will use Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) including face masks and gloves to treat all patients and residents. Extra restrictions have also been put in place for movement and gatherings in all other Queensland areas outside of the above listed local government areas. These restrictions include: Gatherings in private homes and public spaces will be restricted to a maximum of 30 people. These limited do not apply to businesses operating under a COVID Safe plan. 02.01.2022 Just a reminder that Jimbelunga is under lockdown and we have a number of restrictions in place to keep your loved ones safe and COVID-19 free. These include: Visitors are not permitted to enter Jimbelunga unless they are providing essential medical care. ... Visitors are not permitted on the premises at all. Residents can only leave Jimbelunga to receive urgent medical care. Special exemptions will be made for end-of-life situations and we will make arrangements on a case-by-case basis. Jimbelunga is adequately staffed to ensure the health and safety of residents, staff and families. We understand it's tough and we thank you for your ongoing support.
