22.01.2022 Public Health Alert Community members on Brisbanes southside are asked to remain alert but not alarmed as Queensland records three new cases of novel cor...onavirus (COVID-19). The first case is a 19-year-old woman who tested positive after travelling interstate last week. She is an employee at Parklands Christian College on Brisbanes southside. Queensland Health is working closely with the school which has temporarily closed until further notice. The second case is a 19-year-old female travel companion. Both cases travelled interstate together last week. It is believed they contracted the virus in Melbourne, Victoria. The third reported case is a known close contact, a 22-year-old woman, who tested positive later today. This individual is an employee of YMCA Chatswood Hills Outside School Hours Care. Queensland Health is working closely with the school and the care centre, both of which have temporarily closed until further notice. 21.01.2022 This year 2020 has been particularly stressful for most people so far! Here are some ways to try and avoid becoming overwhelmed by stress: Getting plenty of exercise - Even just a walk in the fresh air can help. Eating a healthy diet dont forget those fruit and veggies. Plenty of sleep try to stick to a routine if possible.... Avoid too much alcohol- especially just before bed. Try not to watch too much news once a day can be enough or it can become overwhelming. Talk to people especially those close to you. Focus on hobbies music, gardening, knitting, painting, whatever makes you feel happy. Help others helping others in need can make us feel good. 19.01.2022 This year, National Diabetes Week runs from 12 18 July 2020 and the focus will be on supporting the emotional and mental health of people living with diabetes. https://www.diabetesqld.org.au//national-diabetes-week-2/ Did you know there are a few types of diabetes with different causes? Generally, symptoms are the same but there can be some differences!... Common symptoms for type 1 diabetes include: Increased thirst Extreme fatigue Frequent urination Tummy pain Unexplained weight loss Feeling generally unwell Dehydration. Type 1 diabetes is extremely serious and can be fatal if not treated. If you notice any of these symptoms in you or a loved one you should see your GP immediately. Common symptoms of type 2 diabetes include: Increased thirst Increased urination, particularly at night Feeling tired and lethargic Constant hunger Slow healing skin sores Itching skin and skin infections Blurred vision Occasionally there are no symptoms noticed at all. 18.01.2022 Dear patients, Yesterday there was a recommendation from Qld Health that all staff, visitors, and patients are recommended to wear masks while in medical centre facilities and out of these facilities where social distancing cannot be maintained. Following this advice, we are requesting that you wear a mask when you attend our practice based on this recommendation....
