21.01.2022 As a coach, nothing makes you happier than seeing those that choose to train under your guidance progress. Learn and apply the skills you have taught them. They get stronger, fitter faster and more powerful. Their faith in you pays off, as they grow more confident than ever before. The smile on their face and sense of achievement is a great reward. Genevieve began with a 3km run as a warm up, before her session. She then smashed out several rounds on the heavy bags. With an e...mphasis on punching power. The last 2 rounds the emphasis was on intensity. Volume of power punches. This was Genevieve's last round. I started recording well past the half way mark of that round (3mins/R). Then it was on to deadlifts, after a brief rest. Boxing skills are skills most will never need. But if you do, you're guaranteed your well-being will depend on their execution. This is why I always advocate, to punch like your life depends on it.
21.01.2022 Training sessions at Doherty's Gym Brunswick. For a fitter, stronger and healthier you, contact me and arrange to begin your training regimen.
18.01.2022 Genevieve deadlifting this morning. If you want to get seriously stronger and more powerful, add deadlift to your routine. The strength gains help transform other exercises and activities. It will also assist you in getting leaner and develop great core strength and abs.
13.01.2022 Here is a snippet of Thursday morning's training session. Dynamic pad work with Sandip Pradhan. Sharpening his skills and working his cardio vascular endurance.
13.01.2022 Merry Christmas! Eat, drink, laugh and love. But don't forget to train! My best wishes to you!
12.01.2022 Sandip, finishing this morning's boxing session with some abdominal and hyperextension work. If you want to develop your midsection, these are great exercises. When done correctly. Increase your repetitions per exercise gradually.
11.01.2022 Getting it done. Loving it!
10.01.2022 After several weeks of modifying Sandip's training sessions, due to a work place incident, maintaining his fitness level has paid off. Now that his injury has mostly healed, training intensity can now be increased. Because of those weeks of maintaining a good fitness level and working on the skills we were able to, it will not be long before he is training at full force. Here is a short clip of some of today's session.
09.01.2022 Many will make their New Year's Resolution to Get Fit, Lose weight... etc... etc. Most will give it up shortly after beginning. The majority of those that continue after for a short while will give up once they stop seeing results. YOU need the right guidance.... YOU got out of shape over a period of time, YOU became less of a priority and neglected your well being. So, please understand that getting back into shape will take some time and there will be some hurdles to overcome, no quick fixes or short cuts. Just like everything else you've achieved in life so far, it will take time.
08.01.2022 It's BOXING DAY! Put your gloves on and punch out those calories
07.01.2022 Time to rise, time to grind, time to shine! Doherty's Gym, Flinders Street, Melbourne. CBD. 0630 hours, Friday.
06.01.2022 What do you do when you fall? You get back up of course. Sometimes getting up is harder than others and moving on and progressing can be slower. It can be a long road back, but if you don't push yourself, nothing will be achieved. Never give up! If you do you're only giving up on yourself. ... September 3rd 2018. I squat 120kg. September 4th 2018. While felling a tree, a large branch sprung back on the ladder. I fell from an estimated 7-8ft height still holding the chainsaw. Needless to say I was in a lot of pain. I sucked it up, stood up and finished the job. All before seeing the doctor. Diagnosis, no X-ray, muscular, tendon and ligament damage of the ankle. Small progressions, discomfort but discipline and desire to get my strength back. Today was my second squat session for the week. 100kg. Of course, I'll keep moving forward from here.
04.01.2022 Sunday the 4th of August. The date is set. Sandip Pradhan steps into the ring to ply his skills. At 6am this morning Sandip is in the gym. Sweating like it was a summer day. Time to keep up the intensity. Sharpen the tools of the trade. All before tapering down, in order for his body to recover and be his best when he climbs through the ropes and enters the 'square circle'. It is at this time, all the blood, sweat and tears you have shed, the hard lessons and skills develope...d come together. It's up to you, the boxer, to put them together. On the opposite side of the ring is your opponent. A man who has been through everything you have. In preparation for this moment. It's time to leave it all in the ring and earn your victory. No one is going to give it to you.
04.01.2022 Sam Greco I wish you all the very best for a full and speedy recovery. I'll hope to see you back in the gym very soon. #Iamafighter
04.01.2022 Sandip boxing at 6am this morning. The session finished up with some floor-to-ceiling ball. Speed, hand eye coordination and accuracy. Once difficult, Sandip makes it look easy. Many avoid the floor-to-ceiling ball. It's too difficult and frustrates them. Stick to it. Perseverance brings reward.
04.01.2022 Gyms closed! Train at home. If you're like me and have some equipment, by now you should've dusted them off. If not find a way. Low reps, high reps. Whenever, wherever.
03.01.2022 From previous post. Squat 80kg 5reps 90kg 5reps 100kg 5 reps... Video is of 100kg set.
03.01.2022 Always great training Tess. Tess is a former martial arts and self defence instructor. She started boxing with me in 1998, training several times per week. Now retired and living 100s of kms away she still travels down to Melbourne to visit family and always fits in a boxing session. I can't help but admire and have great respect for a beautiful woman with a great attitude and life force. I used to push her very hard and she never quit, not then and not now. This morning af...ter sharpening up some basics on the floor-to-ceiling ball, we went on to the heavy bag to put some combinations together. Boxing is a great way to get fit, stay fit and active. It is empowering and a great no nonsense method of self defence. What you put in is what you get out of it. #personaltraining #dohertysgym #brunswick #boxing #selfdefence
01.01.2022 Functional leg training.
