25.01.2022 The Prime Minister’s Queensland Bashing has to stop. Lay off our Premier - she is doing a great job keeping Queenslanders safe and guiding our State through a once in a century medical and economic emergency.

25.01.2022 This morning I was truly honoured to be sworn in as the Member for Ipswich West in the 57th Queensland Parliament. I was also honoured to make my Oath to the Premier of Queensland Annastacia Palaszczuk. I wore my University of Queensland Gatton Campus Past Students Association tie with pride.... My seating companions in the 57th Queensland Parliament are Jason Hunt the Member for Caloundra and Jess Pugh the Member for Mount Ommaney.

24.01.2022 We’re taking the safest steps to get our businesses open, our schools back on track and our economy moving. This means Queensland is opening up when so many other parts of the world are closing down. And we’re doing it carefully, safely and with expert health advice.... Queensland’s economic recovery plan is first and foremost about jobs, jobs and jobs. The only plan the LNP has is cuts, cuts and cuts. 22.01.2022 Queensland Corrective Services budget to further enhance safety of Queensland The safety and security of Queensland’s prisons will be further enhanced in the 2020-2021 financial year with a range of significant infrastructure investments to boost capacity. Corrective Services Minister, Mark Ryan MP said budget allocation for the department reinforced the Government’s commitment to the safety of Queenslanders and reducing the rate of crime in the community. ... We are making historic changes to our Corrections network of facilities, including continuing the work to have all Correctional facilities under public operation. Evidence points to publicly operated corrections facilities delivering superior outcomes, especially in relation to the safety of prison staff and prisoners. At the end of this financial year the transition will be complete, with all Queensland Correctional facilities under public operation. In addition, the State Budget will continue to deliver modern, sustainable and evidence-based corrective services to rehabilitate prisoners and offenders and reduce recidivism. In 2020-21 more than $100 million will be spent to begin the construction of Southern Queensland Correctional Precinct Stage 2 project. This project is the second largest Queensland Government building and construction project after Cross River Rail. Building works will begin early next year. On completion, the $654 million piece of infrastructure will be a world class, therapeutic-focused prison that will support over 400 jobs during construction. This project will deliver enormous economic benefits to the Lockyer Valley region, creating extra demand for the goods and services provided by local businesses. The budget is also supporting continued construction work on the $241 million expansion of Capricornia Correctional Centre. A further $48.5 million is allocated this financial year to deliver a project that will result in an extra 398 beds at the centre and more than 200 extra permanent jobs once complete. Our Government continues our commitment to the safety of Queenslanders by investing in Queensland Corrective Services, and these infrastructure projects will have economic flow on effects to the regions for years to come.

22.01.2022 There is no Death Tax under the Labor Government. The only person talking about a Death Tax is Peter Costello - the former Liberal Treasurer under John Howard. Clive Palmer is a liar, and he's using his billions to broadcast his fake news across the state.

22.01.2022 Great news for our 2020 Year 12 students, after a very disrupted final year at school.

21.01.2022 Road safety is everyone's responsibility and the Palaszczuk Government's Community Road Safety Grants program ensures local groups can come up with local solutions. I am pleased that West Moreton Anglican College at Karrabin received a grant of $23,519.10 to improve road safety in and around the College.

21.01.2022 Key points of Murray’s speech: * COVID gives us a once in a lifetime opportunity to reset the Northern Australia agenda, with people moving north for the first time in years. * Unlike our political opponents, Labor supports our traditional industries AND our new ones. Those arguing we can only have one or the other just hold the north back.... * We should treasure every job in ag, mining and tourism, but also grab the north’s big opportunities in renewables, advanced manufacturing & other emerging industries. * Renewables, backed up by batteries, pumped hydro or gas, can deliver the north the cheapest industrial power, giving us an unfair competitive advantage over the world and fuelling our industrial resurgence. * Yes, tackling climate change can CREATE jobs. This is exactly what Albo has been saying as Labor Leader, since his very first vision statement in Perth last year. * But it needs action from the Morrison Govt. As a start, they must bring forward northern infrastructure, invest in skills and increase engagement with First Nations communities. The north can lead the nation out of recession.

21.01.2022 $42m for great schools in Ipswich New classrooms and facility upgrades will be part of a $42 million investment in new, modern school facilities in Ipswich under a re-elected Palaszczuk Labor Government. The funding is included in a $1 billion Great Schools, Great Future education policy to modernise schools and support more than 3,100 local construction jobs across Queensland. Students and teachers at eight schools in Ipswich will benefit from the investment, supporting loca...l tradies during the economic recovery from COVID-19. I welcome funding for two schools in my electorate of Ipswich West. Haigslea State School will receive $750,000 to replace its amenities block something I know the school has been wanting - and Rosewood State School will see work done on its drainage. See more

20.01.2022 We’ve made record investments in health - creating jobs and delivering better health outcomes for Queenslanders.

19.01.2022 Communities from the Torres Strait to the Gold Coast will benefit from an almost $9.6 million investment in projects to improve local disaster resilience and risk reduction. Minister for Emergency Management David Littleproud said the 49 projects were being delivered through the $13.1 million Queensland Resilience and Risk Reduction Fund (QRRRF), a joint initiative between Australian and Queensland Governments. This funding is an important part of our whole community effort ...to create resilient regions across Queensland and the country, Minister Littleproud said. In the past decade, Queensland has seen more than 80 significant natural disaster events including devastating floods, catastrophic bushfires, severe tropical cyclones, and now COVID-19. "We’ll never be able stop disasters from impacting the state, but by investing in resilience and risk reduction today we can ensure Queenslander’s are better prepared for the future. That’s why we’re getting on the front foot with this investment to back a wide range of projects that will lower the cost of future disasters and enable a quicker recovery. Examples of projects being funded through QRRRF include floodway monitoring and warning systems for Balonne Shire Council ($528,000) and Toowoomba Regional Council ($150,000), bushfire mitigation works on Palm Island ($322,000), and severe wind hazard assessment for south east Queensland ($200,000). Queensland Treasurer and Minister responsible for the Queensland Reconstruction Authority (QRA) Cameron Dick said this QRRRF announcement adds to the $3.5 million funded directly by the Palaszczuk Government last month. This $9.6 million joint funding extends support through the QRRRF program to 35 councils, three regional organisations of councils, two state frontline agencies, a non-profit community organisation and Energy Queensland, Mr Dick said. It will go towards job-creating infrastructure projects and upgrades that strengthen the economic recovery plan our government is currently delivering for Queensland. As communities across Queensland continue to battle the economic impacts of COVID-19, we will continue to invest in infrastructure to boost our regions and keep Queenslanders working and protected. The $13.1 million QRRRF is jointly funded by the Queensland Government ($8.3 million) and the Australian Government ($4.8 million) and is administered by the Queensland Reconstruction Authority. It is the first year of a five-year National Partnership on Disaster Risk Reduction between the Queensland and Australian Governments. 18.01.2022 Job vacancies rebounded by 67% in Queensland in the September quarter to a level higher than they were this time last year. More job vacancies means more busi...nesses confident enough to put on more workers. The evidence is clear the states with the strongest health response are having the strongest economic recovery.

17.01.2022 The long overdue $10 million upgrade of Old Toowoomba Road from two lanes to four lanes, with traffic lights Ernest Street, completed in 2019, was only possible with State Government funding via the Transport Infrastructure Development Scheme (TIDS). What I really like about this project is that there are footpaths on each side of the road and wide cycleways. This is a good example of the example of State Government funding roadworks on Council Controlled Roads.

16.01.2022 There will be NO Death Tax under a Labor Government. Don't listen to the lies. Clive Palmer is lying and he is using his billionaire budget to broadcast his fak...e news across the state. Deb Frecklington needs to call out these lies and tell Queenslanders why she's working with this liar to get elected. #CliveLies #FakeNews #QLDVotes

16.01.2022 The election is on a knife's edge. It's a choice between Annastacia Palaszczuk's strong leadership and COVID19 recovery plan for jobs OR Deb Frecklington's reckless decisions and plan for job cuts. Now is not the time to risk Deb Frecklington and the LNP.

16.01.2022 Reforms to Guardianship Laws Substantial reforms to strengthen Queensland’s guardianship system have taken effect today, giving greater protection to the more vulnerable in our community such as the elderly and those with impaired capacity. Attorney-General and Minister for Justice Shannon Fentiman said the new reforms make Queensland’s guardianship laws clearer, improve the efficiency of our guardianship system and have a more modern human rights focus.... "A significant change is the new improved enduring power of attorney and advance health directive forms replacing versions which had been in use for more than 16 years," Ms Fentiman said. "New Guidelines for the Assessment of Capacity will also provide assistance to those who are required to assess a person’s decision-making capacity, such as health professionals. We have worked closely on the design and content of the forms with a range of stakeholders to make them simple and more user-friendly, and new explanatory guides will assist with completing the forms. The Attorney-General said strengthening the safeguards for adults with impaired capacity in the guardianship system, and enhancing service delivery and access to justice services for vulnerable people, were key State Government priorities. "By implementing these legislative reforms we’re helping reduce risks to people with impaired capacity, including older people, of financial abuse and exploitation by strengthening safeguards in Queensland’s guardianship legislation, she said. Other significant amendments include: - changes to the general principles and health care principles that underpin Queensland’s guardianship legislation so they will be more consistent with the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, and the Human Rights Act 2019; - clarifying and extending the current powers that the Queensland Civil and Administrative Tribunal (QCAT) can exercise where an attorney or administrator breaches their duties or obligations to improve accessibility to redress for victims of financial abuse; - a statutory exception to ademption to ensure that a beneficiary is not deprived of their entitlement under a will, just because the property they were entitled to was sold or disposed of by an attorney or administrator while the will maker was alive; and - providing QCAT with the jurisdiction to appoint administrators for missing adults. The amendments implement a number of recommendations from the Queensland Law Reform Commission’s review of Queensland’s guardianship laws. Further information about the changes to guardianship laws is available at https://www.qld.gov.au/guardianship-reform

15.01.2022 The 57th Queensland Parliament is just about to resume sitting - for Budget Week.

15.01.2022 The new fully air-conditioned $ 7 million STEM Building at Ipswich State High School will see 12 new state of the art learning spaces. But it also means dozens of jobs for Ipswich workers - concreters, plumbers, carpenters, electricians, laborers, carpet layers, cabinet makers, IT technicians etc. Keeping them in work and, as my Mother would say, keeping food on the table and a roof over the head for their families.

14.01.2022 The Morrison LNP Government’s attacks on uni students are outrageous. They are joining forces with Pauline Hanson to hike up uni fees, and punish students, especially those from less privileged backgrounds. Access to education should never be based on your family’s income or where you come from. ... Kicking out students who fail a subject in their first year is heartless. The transition to university can be difficult, and this bill will hit where it hurts the most. Even Jacqui Lambie has hit out at Morrison saying I can’t support a bill that reserves its harshest hits for our poorest kids We have to step up and send the LNP a message - we aren’t going to take this lying down. I don’t know why the Federal Government is even charging University fees. Countries where University study is free includes New Zealand, Ireland, France, Germany, Sweden, Turkey, Brazil, Argentina, Denmark and the list keeps growing as progressive Countries see the benefit of free Tertiary education.

14.01.2022 Well I guess we now know what kind of backroom deals the LNP are making.

14.01.2022 Mr Palmer's company paid $135 million to a $2 company controlled by his wife; paid $100 million to another related company for "worthless" coal tenements; and gave $1 million to a Kyrgyzstani woman out of "love and affection". "Extraordinary is in fact an understatement," Graham Gibson QC, for the liquidator, told the Supreme Court in Brisbane.

14.01.2022 At a time when Queensland is beginning to recover from the COVID-19 global pandemic, Deb Frecklington and the LNP have confirmed plans to cut thousands of frontline health workers again. Queensland can't afford to go backwards, especially now.

13.01.2022 Having adequate frontline health staff is critical.

13.01.2022 Carol and I had plenty of people dropping in to say Hello at the Walloon Markets today and many asked about the election. I am at these markets every month, not just at Election time, and I think people appreciate this.

13.01.2022 Leichhardt Park - has been here for a while but it is still important to acknowledge how essential State Government funding is with Council Projects like this.

11.01.2022 An important milestone.

11.01.2022 Tomorrow, November 25th, the Governor of Queensland, Paul de Jersey, will preside over the official opening of the 57th Queensland Parliament

10.01.2022 So very very proud to be a member of the Palaszczuk Government with the 57th Queensland Parliament. 52-strong, including eight new members. Sleeves rolled up to get on with the job of keeping Queenslanders safe and in work.

10.01.2022 BREAKING: From 1am tomorrow, the number of people at outdoor gatherings can increase from 50 to 100. Gatherings at private residences, whether indoor or outdoor..., are limited to 50 people. If you’re sick, stay home and arrange a COVID-19 test. #covid19

10.01.2022 On October 31, Annastacia Palaszczuk and Labor needs your support to keep Queensland safe and strong with our plan for economic recovery. Find out how to vote for your local candidate here: https://voteearlyqld.com.au/ #qldvotes #queenslander

09.01.2022 This election is a choice between Annastacia Palaszczuk's strong leadership and COVID19 recovery plan for jobs OR Deb Frecklington's ongoing poor judgement and plan for job cuts. Now is not the time to risk Deb Frecklington and the LNP.

08.01.2022 School halls aren’t just for schools. Across Queensland, they are gathering places for events, from weddings and community barbecues to a place for clubs, volunteer groups and performing arts. Because we recognise their importance, as part of our $1 billion re-election promise, we’re committing $258 million for 26 new multi-purpose and performing arts centres and 11 extensions to existing facilities.... This is great news for our schools, our communities and our construction industry jobs. Every state school will benefit from a re-elected Palaszczuk Government’s investment in education. And it’s only happening because we have a plan. In Ipswich the Ipswich State High School Performing Arts Centre was completed in 2019 and we have committed $500,000 funding for a Multi-purpose Hall at Amberley District State School.

08.01.2022 $200 million to be invested in future training The State Government is investing $200 million in a range of skills initiatives to help train and retrain Queenslanders for in-demand jobs over the next four years. The Palaszczuk Government is committed to supporting the skills and training needs of Queenslanders in response to the COVID-19 economic recovery priorities and to grow the skills for the jobs of the future. A critical focus will be on skills and training in priorit...y industry growth areas across the State. Future skills initiatives include $83.4 million for: $32.4 million over two years for the TAFE Priority Skills Fund $25 million over two years for Pre-Apprenticeship Support $8 million over four years for a Digital Professional Workforce Plan $8 million over two years for the Social Enterprise Jobs Fund $5 million over two years for the First Nations Training Strategy $5 million in 2020-21 for the Workforce Transition Support Program This comes in addition to programs which have been already announced, including establishing Manufacturing Skills Queensland for $16.51 million over three years (under the Making it in Queensland: Building a Stronger Manufacturing Sector) and the investment of $100 million as part of our Equipping TAFE for our Future plan which provides for new, modern facilities to skill Queenslanders, Minister for Training and Skills Development Di Farmer said the fund focusses on skills development as a vital part of Queensland’s Economic Recovery Plan. From early 2021, we will begin implementing new training programs for in-demand jobs and increased support in the regions and for disadvantaged cohorts, Ms Farmer said. We are committed to supporting the skills and training needs of Queenslanders in response to the COVID-19 economic recovery priorities and to grow the skills for the jobs of the future. We need to have a skilled workforce for emerging industries such as advanced manufacturing and marine industries, as well as to skill for new technologies increasingly being used in existing workplaces. The three-year Equipping TAFE for our Future initiative will commence on 1 July 2021 to ensure future training meets the needs of industry and the post-COVID economy and includes infrastructure modernisation projects at TAFE Queensland and CQUniversity sites. These infrastructure projects will be delivered in Cairns, Rockhampton, Mackay, Bowen, Cannonvale, Bohle, Toowoomba, Ipswich (Bundamba), Mooloolaba, Robina, Bundaberg, Hervey Bay, Yarrabilba, Eagle Farm and Southbank in Brisbane.

07.01.2022 Yesterday we learned of Deb Frecklington and the LNP’s hidden plans to cut thousands of frontline health workers again. Last time the LNP were in government, they cut 92 nurses from West Moreton Health. Queenslanders can’t afford to go backwards, especially now as we recover from the COVID-19 pandemic.

07.01.2022 This is who I am, and this is what I stand for.

07.01.2022 Finally, a headline in the Courier Mail supportive of the Palaszczuk Government. And good to see Dreamworld Chief Executive paying tribute to Queensland Health response for allowing restrictions to ease faster than in some other States. Queensland border restrictions, interstate and international, have kept us safe but the changes will allow allow families and friends who live interstate to reunite before Christmas while our economy is set for a $600M windfall.

06.01.2022 QLD budget drives resources exploration and jobs Queensland is set for a resources exploration surge with the 2020-21 budget delivering more than $29 million in exploration grants, initiatives and COVID-19 support over the next few years. Minister for Resources Scott Stewart said the budget boost for exploration would help drive future resource projects and the thousands of jobs that would flow from them.... Queenslanders elected the Palaszczuk Government so we could keep delivering our strong health response and our plan for economic recovery, Mr Stewart said. An important part of that plan is continuing to invest in and support our world class resource sector. This year’s budget will invest $9 million to help explorers discover new economy minerals that are high in demand globally in the renewables and tech sectors. We have already fast tracked $2 million in spending earlier this year to understand the potential for rare earth minerals. We will pump in another $11.7 million in the following three years as new economy minerals will deliver the jobs of the future. In 2020-21, another $3.3 million will help boost gas and mineral exploration through the Strategic Resources Exploration Program. In addition, to help keep explorers on the hunt we’ve also waived $9.8 million in state rent to back explorers and have frozen exploration fees and charges until 1 July 2021. Mr Stewart said $845,000 budget investment will be provided to make data collected from exploration projects freely available from January 2021 via the government’s geological database. Everything learned from the exploration projects will be shared with the whole sector, helping to stimulate more mines, jobs and exports for Queensland. Gas infrastructure will also be critical, that is why we are investing $5 million over the next two years on investigating potential new gas pipeline infrastructure to connect gas reserves in the Bowen Basin to domestic customers and exports. Investing in infrastructure and supporting exploration is fundamental to maintaining ongoing resources investment and jobs into the future. Minister Stewart said the 2020-21 budget was also delivering more than $33.9 million in rent waivers to support Queensland’s other traditional strengths agriculture and tourism sector. More than $2.7 million in rent has been waived for 72 tourism businesses operating on state-owned land and islands, he said. Another $31.2 million in state rent has been waived for more than 6000 farmers and businesses, because a strong Queensland agricultural industry will also be a driving force in Queensland's post-pandemic economic recovery. Through this budget, the Queensland Government is doing what it can to help keep business working and people employed.

05.01.2022 Queenslanders win half-billion stake in renewable revolution Queenslanders will own a stake in the renewable revolution with the 2020-21 Budget investing $500 million to support the development of renewable energy projects. Minister for Energy, Renewables and Hydrogen Mick de Brenni said the transition to renewables in Queensland was in full swing, and Queenslanders would now reap the rewards of owning their clean energy assets for years to come.... An affordable, reliable energy supply underpins our economic plan for post-COVID recovery, and renewables will play a central role, he said. Right now, renewables make up approximately 20 per cent of Queensland’s energy mix, and that figure will more than double over the next decade as we aim for 50 per cent by 2030. Queenslanders emphatically support more manufacturing and growth and that means we need cheaper power to support jobs growth in these emerging industries. We’re backing this by backing cheaper, cleaner, reliable energy sources. Across our entire state-owned fleet, we are investing over $2 billion into our energy assets to keep delivering the lowest wholesale electricity in Australia for industry. Our publicly owned energy businesses Cleanco ,Stanwell, CS Energy, Energy Queensland and Powerlink now have the opportunity to get their piece of the half-billion dollar fund to build own and operate renewable assets and transmission infrastructure that will drive jobs in the clean energy sector. Minister de Brenni said the Renewable Energy Fund will kick start the next generation of renewable projects over the next four years. In this budget, the $500 million fund is backed-up by a $145 million investment to unlock three renewable energy zones in southern, central, and northern Queensland, set to help new renewable projects flourish. Minister de Brenni said Queensland’s renewable energy zones will help create an investment environment to support the delivery of fit-for-purpose transmission infrastructure and capitalise on existing and in-the-pipeline projects. Already investors are lining up to get into these renewable energy zones with around 192 projects putting their hands up to build new, renewable generation and energy storage projects across the state, he said. Part of our post-COVID recovery plan includes investing in traditional infrastructure and supporting the renewables industry because that in turn supports jobs. Since 2015, 44 large-scale renewable energy projects have launched in Queensland, representing around $8.5 billion in investment and around 7000 construction jobs. Minister de Brenni said the budget will drive renewable projects and vital infrastructure, helping us reach our 50 per cent renewable target by 2030, and create more jobs in the process.

04.01.2022 A new software application for Queensland recreational fishers has been launched and is now available to download free. Minister for Agricultural Industry Development and Fisheries Mark Furner said the new technology is all about protecting Queensland’s valuable fisheries resources for future generations to enjoy. ‘Qld Fishing 2.0’ is an improved version of the original ‘Qld Fishing’ app and aims to assist recreational fishers to better understand and comply with fishing rul...es and regulations, Mr Furner said. All the best features of the first app are still there, but with a number of new functions added for the benefit of avid anglers. There is a lot of excitement about the new artificial intelligence technology the app uses. It can currently identify 20 common fish species with a high level of accuracy. The fish recognition technology and number of species it can identify will continuously improve with additional data and future releases. Users can do their part for citizen science by submitting their fish photos to help train the app’s fish recognition tool. Mr Furner said the app’s new functionality will allow users to: submit a photo and identify their catch through cutting edge fish recognition technology understand the fishing rules in any location with the ‘Can I Fish Here’ feature receive Fisheries Queensland notifications including reminders about upcoming fishing closures buy a permit to fish in Queensland’s 63 stocked dams and weirs learn more about their catch such as approximate age based on the fish size entered in the app contact Fisheries Queensland to submit information or make an enquiry or complaint. Mr Furner said the new app can be used in remote locations or in areas with limited mobile signal reception. The app uses cached species data and simplified mapping information as part of its offline functionality and has artificial intelligence to identify a limited number of common fish species, he said. Photos of fish are only used to help train the app’s artificial intelligence. I want to reassure people that the new recreational fishing app does not collect or store personal information about the user or where they are fishing. Mr Furner said the original ‘Qld Fishing’ app, which was very popular and was downloaded more than 40,000 times, will no longer be maintained or available for download. Users who have the previous app installed can uninstall it and install ‘Qld Fishing 2.0’ to take advantage of its new features, he said. The new recreational fishing app can be downloaded for free by searching for ‘Qld Fishing 2.0’ in the App Store and via Google Play.

04.01.2022 Jobs blow in from new FNQ wind farm Early works will start before the end of the year on a $380 million wind farm in Far North Queensland, creating 150 jobs, thanks to a sales deal with publicly-owned CleanCo. Energy Minister Dr Anthony Lynham said Neoen Energy would build the Kaban Green Power Hub near Ravenshoe, 80 kilometres south-west of Cairns now that CleanCo had agreed to buy 110 MW of the wind farm’s output.... Queensland has an economic plan for post-COVID recovery and affordable, reliable energy supply underpins that plan, Dr Lynham said. That plan includes supporting emerging industries like renewable energy because that supports jobs. This project is proceeding because the power purchase agreement with CleanCo has given Neoen certainty. Emergency Services Minister and Member for Barron River Craig Crawford welcomed the news about jobs and farm income. This 157 MW wind farm will mean 150 construction jobs as well as revenue for local farmers hosting the turbines, he said. I understand that Neoen has also been working hard with our local business community to ensure maximum opportunity for locals when early works start later this year. This is another great example of our publicly-owned energy businesses working for Queenslanders. Neoen Australia’s managing director Louis de Sambucy said Neoen was delighted to be working with CleanCo and Powerlink on their second Queensland project together. This agreement underscores our deepening involvement in the state’s clean energy transition, and we are proud to be supporting Queensland’s progress towards its ambitious target of 50 per cent renewable energy by 2030, Mr Sambucy said. We look forward to Kaban delivering an economic boost to Far North Queensland, supporting the region’s recovery from the impact of COVID-19. The project will also provide diversified revenue to local farmers hosting the turbines and will see Neoen establish an annual $50,000 Community Benefit Fund for local community-building initiatives over the duration of the project’s life. CleanCo CEO Dr Maia Schweizer said CleanCo was proud to be involved in this new renewable energy project which will continue to improve electricity affordability for Queensland. As demonstrated by our recent agreements with BHP and Coles, large energy users in Queensland are increasingly looking to power their businesses with affordable renewable energy, which gives us the confidence to continue to support projects like Kaban, she said. First generation is expected in 2023 and the project will generate enough energy to power about 95,900 Queensland homes. Over the past five years under Labor, 42 large-scale renewable energy projects have launched, representing more than $8 billion in investment and more than 6500 construction jobs.

03.01.2022 The Palaszczuk Government’s Works for Queensland program has created or supported tens of thousands of jobs across every one of the state’s councils since 2016.... Its focus has been jobs and the spin offs have ranged from upgraded swimming pools and new libraries to skateparks, water infrastructure and roads. That’s why we’re announcing our $880 million Keeping Queensland Working program, which includes: $400 million for our hugely-successful Works for Queensland program for regional areas to create or support up to 11,800 jobs. $200 million for our SEQ Community Stimulus Package to support up to 6,000 jobs. $280 million to continue the Transport Infrastructure Development Scheme for regional road crews to deliver more local roads right across Queensland As part of our economic recovery plan, this is our commitment to another 17,800 regional jobs and dozens of regional projects. #qldjobs

02.01.2022 Annastacia Palaszczuk and Labor have a plan for economic recovery to create Queensland jobs. Campbell Newman's Assistant Minister, Deb Frecklington cut 14000 jobs last time and has a plan to cut thousands of frontline health jobs again. Now is not the time to risk the LNP.

01.01.2022 This election is going to be close. Very close. Queensland needs a strong, stable government to maintain our strong health response and continue our plan for ec...onomic recovery. I’m asking for your support to deliver that government. Let’s keep working together for Queensland.

01.01.2022 Public Health emergency extended to keep Queensland open The current Queensland Public Health Emergency Declaration has been extended to enable Queensland to continue to Unite and Recover from COVID-19. Deputy Premier and Minister for Health and Minister for Ambulance Services Steven Miles said the hard work of Queenslanders has allowed us to ensure Queensland remains in a strong position against COVID-19.... Extending the current Public Health Emergency Declaration means Queensland can stay open for Queenslanders and keep the economy moving, Mr Miles said. Since the start of the pandemic we have responded strongly, and now we are able to enjoy social activities, our pubs and clubs are open, gym classes are on, and hair and beauty services are open. Many Queenslanders have taken the opportunity to explore our great state, boosting the economy and tourism in the far north. We are able to do this, because of the hard work of Queenslanders. Deputy Premier Miles said people in Victoria are still unable to enjoy some of the freedoms that have been open to Queenslanders for months now. In Victoria, people are unable to have visitors in their homes, they are unable to go for coffee or lunch at their favourite café and many are still in strict lockdown, Mr Miles said. Sadly, Victoria is still recording new cases each day and more than 798 deaths have been recorded since the beginning of the pandemic. Here in Queensland, while we still have some restrictions in place, we are slowly and steadily opening and lifting up. While COVID-19 remains a threat around the globe, we will continue to always have plans in place to quickly respond if required. The extension of the Public Health Emergency Declaration will help us do just that. Queenslanders can feel confident that our health system is working to keep them safe from the virus, but also that their hard work has helped us get to where we are now. Dr Jeannette Young said that the extension to the declared public health emergency is just one of the mechanisms being used to keep Queenslanders safe. Extending the public health emergency makes sure that we can continue to do everything within our power to protect Queenslanders from COVID-19, Dr Young said. We can’t forget that we are still in the midst of a global pandemic and our response to the pandemic must continue. We have proven the strength of our response time and time again here in Queensland and for that I would like to thank Queenslanders for working with us. The current public health emergency declaration has been extended until midnight on 31 December 2020.
