25.01.2022 Ive been going hard on this #K100 build the last few weeks. So much so that Ive barely had any time to shoot content on the build. Everything is back from paint and were on the final assembly this week. @savvas_auto_upholstery is in tonight to shape the seat and thats pretty much the last of it! | #kustomkommune
24.01.2022 Damn, @sam.fossati makes me look tiny! So happy to reveal the K100 to this legend. Yesterday was the first time Sam got to see the brick in its new form. Its gone through one hell of a transformation, with heaps of custom one-off bits and a handful of parts from our fav custom shops around the world. We gave it a ton of mechanical love and then did an extensive list of modifications to create this giant scrambler, named FOSSATONE aka Big Fossati as a nod to Sams Nonno. I had so much help from the @kustomkommune crew to make this such a quality build. Theres custom parts that we spent hours making that will never even be seen. 23.01.2022 Had some great 1-1 seshs at @kustomkommune over the last couple of weeks. Everything from engine rebuilds, basic servicing, through to overhauling an IT200 with a high school student (his dad purchased it brand new in 85!). Its a lot of fun working on such a huge variety of bikes, can definitely say that Im learning a heap about those little idiosyncrasies each make and model can have. 22.01.2022 I I I X I I I . Just received our baller wedding rings from Germany! @ninamhlc Aunty is an incredible goldsmith and custom made these signet rings for us. We wanted something that fit our style rather than a tradition. Marriage itself seems to be a strange tradition these days, but its a bloody awesome way to show commitment and have one hell of a party! Were having a ceremony in a Collingwood warehouse then a party at our fav bar and will dance til the sun comes up with 14 of our best friends. I cant bloody wait!
22.01.2022 Woah. It’s been a busy couple of weeks. We’re doing a mad dash to get the space finished before we reopen next week. Lots of new additions to make it feel fresh. We hope you guys love it. When I’m not fitting out the space I’ve been knocking up some new website additions to help manage the (eased) Covid-19 restrictions. 22.01.2022 I surprised @ninamhlc with a Neon Suite at @zagameshouse so she had an amazing space to get ready before the wedding. These legends went absolutely above an beyond to make us feel so special and to give us that bit (ok, a hell of a lot...) of luxury on our wedding night. Was one of the best stays Ive ever had. 19.01.2022 ITS ALL THANKS TO YOU! 2019: What a year. Kommune is growing every day, Ive launched new festivals, I got in a ton of travel all around the world, worked with some incredible brands and organisations..., but the things that I am most proud of are my friends, loved ones and community. . Forever, Ive aspired to do well as an entrepreneur, Im always looking for the next thing. This year I realised that the people in our lives are what makes it really special and building rel...ationships gives me the most satisfaction. The more you give in relationships the more you get back. To some it might seem obvious, however to someone that has always been a bit of a lone wolf and has always had path their own way, its can be difficult. . @ninamhlc and I have grown so much together, Ive never felt so connected to another human being. Weve had a truely incredible year together and it was all fuelled by you guys, our amazing community. . We applied for our partnership visa, made possible by you guys buying her art. We travelled to Europe so I could meet her family and then later propose, made possible by you guys chipping in time to look after @kustomkommune while we were away. We launched festivals together, made possible by you guys donating time and then joining us for one hell of a party. We are both full time at Kommune, again made possible by you guys committing time and joining the space. . Its thanks to all of you that Ive been able to achieve everything in 2019 and set up my future with @ninamhlc . If you read this, take it as a personal thank you for being so awesome and so supportive. I (we) actually couldnt do it without each and every one of you. 18.01.2022 I’m not sure what I was expecting during these lockdowns. In my mind I’d have all this extra free to finish up heap projects that I’ve been chipping away at this year. Instead I feel like I’m constantly being pulled in opposite directions and I’m barely scratching the surface. But you know what? It doesn’t matter. I feel like this is such a mental barrier for so many people at the moment. We feel like we need to be constantly achieving and kicking goals in this time of crisis.... I kinda adopted the panic style approach when COVID hit, but I quickly came to the realisation that this is probably not going to disappear anytime soon and I need to readjust to the current way of living. The reality is to date we have powered @kustomkommune through one of the most uncertain times we’ve ever faced and all with minimal government handouts. That’s a bloody big achievement. I’m about halfway through the new Kommune ecomm and tool delivery service build, the XV750 is getting blasted ready for paint, we’ve been getting through a heap of fabrication and repair jobs, I built an epic hydro blaster, @bad_gigi launched her website and even managed renovations at the workshop. I’m going to go a little easier on myself for the next six weeks, you should too. You don’t have to put extra pressure on yourself. 16.01.2022 Last weekend we hosted a fundraiser with a bunch of whisky legends at @kustomkommune . In the Spirit aimed to raise much needed funds for @wildlifevictoria . Over the past few months over ONE BILLION animals (not a typo) have perished in the devastating Australia bushfires, and countless more need our help. We pulled together and raised an incredible $8000+ to help care for our wildlife. Massive shout out to everyone that made it possible and the kickass crew we met on the ...night; @denifunf @denverandliely @thisisbenemac @ninamhlc @agirltastingwhiskey @caravansounds @jakesimkinphotos @whiskyinvestor @you_got_that_pappy @whiskey_hunt_australia @whiskyheaven @thewhiskycompany @southtradeint @thelonsdalehotel Just to name a few. 13.01.2022 Thirty fucking five. How the hell did that happen? It also marks 10 years since getting my first braaaap machine. I treated myself to a brand spanking new XVS650 for my 25th Birthday (probs why I couldnt afford a hair cut...) and kicked off my moto-journey for the next decade. Crazy how time flys and where life takes you. Defs living my best life with all the best peeps. Thanks for the birthday wishes, you bloody legends. Made my day! How good is the bike pic! 13.01.2022 Just finished a test fit of the handlebar bits, came up a treat! Those switch housings will be welded into the bars making them all one peice. Small momentary buttons screw in and internally wire. These will be some seriously sweet (and proper custom!) bars. Luke Steiger whipped up some electrics trays that fit the shape of the bottom of the tank and the side of the frame (both sides). The Benelli tank is super wide and theres tons of room to mount the electrics, but we want it looking as clean as possible so made these covers. The reveal of lifting the tank of and seeing perfectly laid out electrics will totes be worth it!#kustomkommune #virago #winthisbike

11.01.2022 Got my first proper ride in these holidays. Landed an epic 26C day, so headed down the coast with @ninamhlc . Theres nothing better than cruising the Australian coastline on a chop mid summer with your fav human. We stuck around an caught and epic sunset over the bay. It was a good day.

09.01.2022 Celebrated another great year of @adventure.machine with @thisisbenemac getting his very first tough sticker! @pete_pav has been tattooing me for years and we filled the last remaining spots on my right arm with a heap of free hand gap fillers. Stoked! Best yet weve booked in my full back piece for Jan. Cant wait . Has been a fun year shooting our YouTube series and a heap of content for a heap of brands that we love. 09.01.2022 Woah, its been nearly a month since Ive posted! Its been a crazy month to say the least with @kustomkommune shutting down due to COVID-19. After feeling really down about it all and having no idea what was going to happen, I found some incredible motivation with @simon_toddy_todd donating his XV750 for us to raffle off and raise some funds for the workshop while we are not trading. Like many, both @bad_gigi and I are effectively unemployed, feels so bizarre. So, we pulled ...together a crew to tear down and rebuild into a true Kommune machine; that one of you lucky mofos are going to be to win! Theres a long way to go but were making amazing progress and getting huge amount of support from suppliers with parts and services (that Ill go into later). Today Ive been working on making a set of clipons and machining up button housings that will be inset directly in to the bars. Super time consuming but something Ive always wanted to try! Thanks to @steiger.luke, @schmicha_ and Cam for all their help over the last week. Cant wait to share more progress with you guys. 09.01.2022 Super stoked to hand over this rad little Honda CB125 Scrambler build today! @kustomkommune member, @oldlion59 , asked us to take his sons learner moto and give it a new lease on life for his wife to learn to ride on. Its destined to live out its days chasing kangaroos out on the family farm meaning we could do away with all the road required gear. Most of the parts we used were taken from the Kommune donations bins which makes it even cooler. This would be such a fun and cheap commuter and Im keen to build some more. #kustomkommune

We literally spend 24hrs a day together and it still feels like its not enough. The support Nina has given me over the past few months and particularly in the last few weeks as been nothing short of incredible. 06.01.2022 Started running the wiring on the @kustomkommune giveaway bike last night. All new charging, ignition and accessories looms are being installed. Ive been looking forward to this part as I find it so satisfying running perfectly routed wiring and removing the crusty standard looms. Weve made a heap of bolt on brackets to hold the electrical hardware under the tank. Will clean it all up once the bike is down to the bare frame. . Still lots of general cleaning up to do on the ...frame too as there loads of grind marks and little slips of the angle grinder from previous incarnations of the bike. Hot tip: go easy when grinding off tabs or welds. It can be difficult to see just how much material youve taken off and you could end up wafer thin sections on your frame. Typically, if you are grinding tube (like a subframe) and it turns blue you have most likely been grinding way too hard or far too much material has been removed and has become too thin. 02.01.2022 Totally made a thing! Until last week, I barely knew how to use our lathe at @kustomkommune . I figured there was no time like the locked down present to have a crack and learn some mad new skillz. What better project than making @bad_gigi some art pens and brushes. First crack was this aluminium refillable pen with retractable, spring operated nib (wind the end down to use and up to store). Took a couple of mistakes and experimenting to figure the best order to do things, but once it all sunk in it was ez mode. Biggest challenge was figuring out / coming up with the solution of press-fitting two halves of the body, as my drill bits were too short and I had to do stepped internals for the spring. Really enjoyed this process, and totes got best husband ever points with Nina #createdonthate @ Kustom Kommune
01.01.2022 To say that last few months have been one hell of a roller coaster is an incredible understatement. It has undoubtedly been the most challenging time for us, as individuals and especially as a couple. We got married, went into lockdown the day before we were meant to head off and celebrate with her family in Europe, we lost opportunities to grow our little empire and further build the community. We had to fight what seemed like an impossible battle to keep our home and liveli...hood and we both hit what felt like absolute rock bottom with our mental health. Once again, the support of our community, friends and most of all- each other, has pushed us through and powering on into the great unknown. If I learnt anything out of these last few months, its that love, communication and support for those that you love is more important than anything else in this world. If our livelihood vanished, wed still have each other. If we lost our home, wed still have each other. And in times of darkness, we still have each other. Nina and I are the one constant in each others lives and standing strong next to one another has been the most significant key to making it through. To have found someone that can support me in ways that I never thought possible and to do so with zero judgement and 100% love has been one of the biggest life and mindset changing points of my time. No matter what happens in life, we will always have each other. That thought alone makes me feel like nothing is impossible. 01.01.2022 Was so much fun building this little chook-chaser for @oldlion59 ! Started life as a 2012 Honda CB125E and we added a touch of retro scrambler styling. Fitted up an XS400 tank painted with a custom mixed, nod to the 70s Sunburst colour, along with a custom made subframe and seat. We whipped up a high pipe and then reduced the electrics to the bare minimum. Super fun and will be a blast out on the farm! #kustomkommune #kommunebuilt Jason Lau Photography Kustom Kommune
