25.01.2022 The resident pair of eagles. So majestic - and large!

25.01.2022 More of the river!

24.01.2022 A mishmash of pictures. It’s been very wet and cold, but today is sunny - a good day for a cattle conference.

20.01.2022 A beautiful sunset.

19.01.2022 Gerald and Geraldine.

19.01.2022 Another bale - what took you so long?? And the resident wedge-tailed eagles and a flock of corellas.

18.01.2022 RIP Granny. She turned up out of nowhere in May 2019 elderly, frail, lice ridden, no teeth. But she quickly became part of the gang, although she never did gain much weight. I hope she had a good 16 months with us and a better life than the one she had left behind. She loved food and treats - Weetbix and carrots - and was afraid of nothing. A brave and totally endearing little soul. Last night’s brutal weather was just too much for her, but she was with her mates and warm in the shed.

18.01.2022 Beautiful evening light.

18.01.2022 Trapped in the chicken shed - but not for long!

17.01.2022 A very damp Saturday.

17.01.2022 Malmsbury. Out for a walk.

15.01.2022 Pink sky at night ...

14.01.2022 Yum! A new bale.

14.01.2022 A yellow-faced honeyeater, obsessed with his/her reflection in a mirror.

14.01.2022 A cockatoo or two. Noisy. And no social distancing.

13.01.2022 We have our own river and waterfall system.

13.01.2022 They have almost finished grazing a very steep hill.

12.01.2022 Rain on the dam - and loads of frogs.

12.01.2022 Scratching - part 2.

11.01.2022 Itches need scratching - part 1.

10.01.2022 This girl was down in the paddock this morning, unable to get up. We carried her to whats left of the hay bale for support. Jimmy waited with her until the fabulous Josh - the vet - arrived. Found some bruising but nothing broken. An anti-inflammatory injection - and minutes later she managed to stand and totter off looking for her friends. Thank goodness we found her quickly.

10.01.2022 Frosty, misty and a bit sunny.

06.01.2022 RIP Trixie. A beautiful Merino with a very gentle nature. Stoic to the end. Another sad day at The Menagerie.

06.01.2022 Yesterdays foggy morning.

05.01.2022 Even eagles get harassed!

05.01.2022 Just went to check on our poorly ewe - who is up and about and eating with her gang! - when one of the local residents ran across my path - literally. Wombats can run pretty fast when they want to.

05.01.2022 And for most farmed animals, their short lives are anything but natural via Simple Happy Kitchen

04.01.2022 It was a lovely sunny, but cold, morning. It is now pouring with rain.

04.01.2022 What a fab waddle!

03.01.2022 Magnificent eagles - looking for dinner.

02.01.2022 Celebrating Ferdinand Today Ferdy left us to go back to Edgars Mission, the farm animal rescue home he came to us from in late 2016. Along with just seven others from his mob, Ferdy survived the devasting Kilmore bushfires in 2014. His magnificent horns made him the boss of our mob - despite his short stature. His little legs are actually the reason he has gone back to Edgars - the land here is just too hilly for him and he has struggled to get around lately. Warmer weather and flat land - and constant care and attention - will see him continue to live a happy life. Bye for now Ferdy. We have loved having you with us and will visit you at Edgars!

02.01.2022 Everyones eating - with kangaroos everywhere!
