25.01.2022 In this series of articles on great leadership we have looked at the Uber Boss so far. Today we are going to start examining the Visionary leader and identify just some of the strengths and weakness of this type of leadership. Great leaders are sometimes born and sometimes made. Regardless you can learn an enormous amount about how to become a great, inspired and inspiring leader by studying the topic thoroughly. The problems that result from the heavy handed use of power ...and authority abound in modern organisations. From destroying morale to driving the talent away, from leading the company into poorly considered direction, to being the reason staff fail to invest their minds and initiative into the leaders plans. This kind of troubled leadership is a major cause of poor engagement and low productivity. What are the chances of high levels of synchronicity, productivity and flow if the leadership ruins morale, makes the staff anxious and apprehensive and destroys initiative? Not good I would guess! 23.01.2022 The Weakness of Leading From the Front Part 1

20.01.2022 A SIMPLE DEFINITION

20.01.2022 Last week, we shared an M Blog post which delved into the value of being mindful of your intentions, and the impacts intentions can have on productivity, engagement and satisfaction. But what about the other side of that coin? What happens when your intentions are based on incomplete or incorrect information? How can you recover from the negative effects this can produce? In this M Blog post, we discuss the common reasons we can develop intentions which can produce undesirable outcomes, the preconditions which can lead to this happening, and what we can do to avoid these mistakes.

He has decades of experience working with companies large and small, teaching how to apply positive psychology to everyday situations to achieve optimal outcomes. The M Blog is a collection of articles and discussions, shared by Jim, which delve into the common challenges faced by people who want to work more effectively and efficiently, and foundations of his teachings. Over the next few weeks, we will be sharing these posts - bite-sized articles which focus on the complex and yet common problems which occur in most workplaces every day.

18.01.2022 What does "purpose", "meaning" and "fulfilment" mean to you? Every individual has a different set of goals and values which inform their definitions of these terms. And as the decisions we make are fundamentally based on these principles, being acutely aware of what they mean to us will radically improve your decision making for the better. In this M Blog, we discuss the massive improvements and benefits which can come from clarifying what these terms mean to you.

14.01.2022 Have you ever wondered why some people seem to thrive in life and career while others struggle? Have you ever wondered why some people seem to be able to inspire engagement from their colleagues and staff while others cant get the slightest bit of attention? Have you ever asked yourself how do I fix a problem only to find yourself becoming overwhelmed, while someone else seems to revel in the situation? Check out The M Blog, a collection of articles and discussions covering a range of material centred around developing methods to achieve elite performance as an individual, a member of a team, and a leader.

13.01.2022 In our previous two M Blog posts, we have discussed intentions, their value and the risks which can be encountered when we are not mindful of our intentions or develop intentions subconsciously. But, how do we develop positive and effective intentions which will lead us to the outcomes we desire? How do we create and instil optimal intentions in ourselves, and communicate them to our colleagues and team members?

11.01.2022 Intentions come in all shapes and sizes, many good, some not so good and plenty that are completely harmful. People often confuse intentions with goals or expectations. While they are closely related it is helpful to highlight the differences. In this M Blog, we discuss the benefits which come from identifying, and communicating, our intentions - as an individual, a leader and as a company.

10.01.2022 You may now be wondering what the place of the Absolute Monarch / Dictator is in corporations. Do they have a place. You might be assuming the answer is no, they dont. If you are thinking this then you are only sort of right. The question is wrong. It isnt a question of what place its more of a question of whats useful or not. You might be wondering what the alternatives are? What kind of a leader are you and what type do you want to be? What is the best type of leader? We will be answering these questions but for now lets put an end to any aspirations for the illusion of absolute power.

10.01.2022 THE WHAT OF LEADERSHIP

09.01.2022 With executive burnout and dissatisfaction being a major cause of poor productivity in companies, its time to rethink how we engage in our careers. What is the skill set of highly effective AND SATISFIED executives? What are their most useful attributes? What is the link between work satisfaction and improved productivity and engagement?... In The M Blog, we explore the essential skills required to perform at an elite level in an executive role.

07.01.2022 In this blog were going to begin to look at some of the more common problematic intentions that frequently circulate around the corporate world. We will also have a look at the anatomy of problematic intentions and see why they have a tendency to create more problems than they fix. Youll see that some intentions can seem very attractive, but when you dissect them and examine their natural consequences on you and others, they are something of a poisoned chalice. Problematic intentions will ultimately limit the success of you and your people not enhance it.

07.01.2022 Do you find yourself getting started on a plan only to find it quickly gets derailed by unpredictables or minutiae. Or do you try to solve a problem only to find there seems to be no satisfactory solution. Perhaps you have a team that is underperforming and all your efforts to motivate them seem to fail. If you said yes to any of these questions then adopting an optimal effectiveness model will turn things around for you.

07.01.2022 Over the last few weeks, we have explored intentions and the value they bring to everything we do - if we cannot say what we want to achieve through our actions, then it is hard for us to drive towards that goal. Well thought out intentions are the core to clear and effective communication and progress, but if intentions are not clear, if they are not realistic or achievable, or if you have no intentions at all, then your performance, and the performance of your team will suffer. In this post, we explore some of the common problems people experience due to poor (or non-existent) intentions.
