19.01.2022 WHY IN THE WORLD WOULD YOU PAY TO START A CLEANING BUSINESS???? From a Franchisee I was in between jobs, I was not looking to gain employment as I was sick of ...putting hard work into building someone else’s dreams. I didn’t want to start from scratch, a nobody with no reputation or brand. Too hard. But, I needed to have an income. How I started looking at Franchises. This didn’t seem a likely option either! They wanted non-disclosure documents signed (just to be given information!), upfront investment, no guarantee of income, and an ongoing percentage of income as a monthly fee! So they were not forthcoming with information, income who knows? and THE HARDER I WORKED AND MORE I EARNED THE MORE I HAD TO PAY! NO WAY! Then there was Jim’s Cleaning Met with the Manager for the area, they printed off heaps of information and handed it to me no signing no secrets nothing just heaps of information. Then they gave me details of some Franchisees to have a chat with told me I should spend a day with a franchisee, for free, to see what they do. See if this is what I wanted to do. WOW! Now on top of this, there was this income guarantee! A what? Jim’s was so confident in their system that they would pay me to work in my new business. I would do promotional cleans and they would pay me! GREAT! So here I was, open communication (AND in writing) about the Franchise, the opportunity to chat with someone in the business that I would be doing. Free ‘trial’ day to check out and see if this is what I wanted. Opportunity to have income coming in as soon as I started working. I also found out that the monthly fee was not a Percentage! It was a set fee, so the more I worked and the more I earned the more I got to keep! AWESOME! Oh, also the whole setup was like a business in a box. Literally! You got training, both Jim’s and on-road cleaning training, Uniform, Business Cards, Fridge magnets, invoice books. An equipment pack with vac, cloths, mops and cleaning products! They wrapped my car with signage too! My territory was mine to take work from and no other franchisee could advertise there. Work leads were supplied through a user pay system. This all seemed great but what was the catch I had to pay an upfront investment. Money up front for a business in a box, well know brand, training, equipment, vehicle wrap, income support if I did work to promote my business while I was starting up. Then ongoing support, Fixed ongoing fee regardless of how big my business got. AND apparently I could sell off part of my business for a cash injection or sell it completely if I wanted to leave! Of course I had to have clients to sell but what a great way to finish money in my pocket! So, I paid my investment and away I went. Worked when I wanted, for who I wanted and for how much I wanted!
