21.01.2022 With so many Australians working from home to reduce the risk of coronavirus, were making it easier to claim your expenses this tax time. From 1 March until 30 June 2020, were allowing you to claim 80c per hour for each hour you spend working from home. This will cover all your expenses, including your: Heating and cooling Electricity... Mobile phone Internet Depreciation of office equipment You can still use other methods to calculate your claim if you prefer; however, whichever method you choose, youll need to make sure you have records to support your claim. 20.01.2022 This is not a bookkeeping post, but during these interesting times we all need to feel good. Take some time out of your busy day to watch this. Reflect how it makes you feel. How we feel about ourselves is as important as keeping our books in order.

17.01.2022 It's the first day of spring and I am sure quite a few of you have been spring cleaning your home, sorting out your wardrobe and spending time in the garden. This is also the perfect time to spring clean your finances and book work. Have a look at how much you are spending on your overheads, start planning a budget. Look at how your business is tracking. Yes, I know we are in the middle of lock down, but this is the perfect time to plan. Time spent now will reap benefits in the future. A qualified and experienced Jim's Bookkeeper is able to help you navigate all this and keep you smiling. Ask how. Remember - I do what I love so you can do what you love.

16.01.2022 I definitely had an interesting afternoon. Yesterday I tripped over Abe and fell on the floor. Today over 3 hours in ED with a minor concussion, pulled and strained muscles in my right shoulder and a suspected fracture in my left hand. I love my cats, but you can never keep a good bookkeeper down!

15.01.2022 This extension is great news for those who are still wondering if they are eligible.

13.01.2022 Do you seem to be always working but still struggling to pay your bills and cash flow always tight? A couple of the common reasons for this is not invoicing customers as soon as the work is done and then not following up payment from your customers. These are great short term solutions that a qualified, experienced bookkeeper can help you with. A bookkeeper can have the invoices raised and forwarded to the customer quickly and efficiently, while following up any overdue accounts with care and sensitivity. Let a qualified, accredited bookkeeper help you with taking the first steps to improving your cash flow.

My clients have been focusing on their business while I have been keeping their books up to date. its great listening to their plans for the future, especially with the socially distancing being relaxed. They arent concerned about what their cash flow looks like as I have been monitoring this since March 2020, so there is no mystery for them. How has your week been? I hope you have been able to focus on the future of your business instead of trying to wrestle with your book work. Just remember, love what you do and do what you love.

08.01.2022 , This is great advice from Shelly at North East Exercise Solutions These are just a few tips on how to remain active with limited resources at home. ... If you would like some more information on a home exercise program that is specific for you during this time, we can easily organise something for you though a private face to face or telehealth session. As the nations aim is to minimise contact with other people, this limits our resources to exercise equipment. However there is plenty you can do to easily exercise at home and with a bit of creativity, you dont have to go rushing out to buy fancy gear either. There is a lot you can do with little or no exercise equipment - you can use your own body weight and items around the house as weights. Some ideas on how to get your 30 mins of huff and puff - step-ups, using time to set up some intervals such as 2 mins. Just use a step around the house - marching on the spot - skipping - exercise bike or treadmill if you are lucky enough to already have these items at home Keeping strong with strength training at home - sit to stand with options of no hands - glute bridges - Theraband leg strength exercises - Theraband arm exercises - wall, kitchen bench or floor push-ups - crunches or sit-ups for abdominal strength - arm weights using bottles of water/tinned food These are just a few tips on how to remain active with limited resources at home.

07.01.2022 Sunday groan....

06.01.2022 Its been a busy week getting my clients ready for the end of the financial year. I am currently having fun doing a three way reconciliation of debtors. Thats right, I said fun! This is what I enjoy doing. While I am busy preparing my clients accounts they are busy with their businesses doing what they enjoy without having to worry about the end of the financial year. Dont spend your nights and weekends doing your book work when you could be spending this time with those you love. I can help you get your life back.

05.01.2022 Why use a bookkeeper? Is a bookkeeper really necessary? These are probably the two most commonly asked questions. A bookkeeper can help you keep on top of your invoicing and payments while keeping an eye on your cash flow. A qualified bookkeeper can advise on issues that may impact your business such as late payments of invoices and meeting tax obligations. A qualified bookkeeper will also ensure that your accounts are up to date and reconciled ready for your accountant at the end of the financial year. Payroll and BAS preparation are also areas that a bookkeeper is able to complete efficiently and accurately. Most importantly, a qualified bookkeeper can help you regain a good work/life balance and let you focus on growing your business.
