Well also invest in future generations by supporting tertiary education in Jindy with TAFE and university programmi...ng in sports science, environmental management, and hospitality and tourism, that will lead to year-round internship and employment opportunities in the region. 18.01.2022 Next up on our Spotlight on Jindabyne series is Steve Cuff, editor of the local Snowy Mountains Magazine. Not much goes on around town that Steve doesnt know about, and as a local business owner, it was great to catch up with Steve about his vision for this growing town. 18.01.2022 No one knows a community better than those who live, work, and play there. Thats why, as part of the Go Jindabyne Masterplan, weve created this Spotlight on Jindabyne series to learn more about the town and its people. Heres our first episode of the series, featuring Ian Grant and Lara Worsley, School Captains at Jindabyne Central School. Have your say on the vision statement for the Snowy Mountains SAP (as it has evolved from the Go Jindabyne Plan). https://dpie.mysocialpinpoint.com.au/snowy

17.01.2022 The vision for the Snowies 3/5: Sustainability + Wellness Most of us have heard of the term carbon neutral, where carbon emissions are offset enough to have a neutral impact on the environment. But given the vulnerable alpine environment of Kosciuszko National Park, we want to go one step further... Were not just striving for a neutral impact. We want a positive impact. Thats why were aspiring to be carbon negative, by reducing our emissions, supporting carbon sequestr...ation technologies, and offsetting more carbon emissions than we emit. We also see a renewable future for the Snowies that involves shifting to clean energies and building green infrastructure to reduce our ecological footprint and stimulate the regional economy. Needless to say, this ones my favourite of our five aspirations for the future! This is just the beginning. ***Eligible LGAs*** Albury, balranald, Berrigan, Bega Valley, Edward River, Federation, Greater Hume Shire, Hay, Murray River, Murrumbidgee, Snowy Monaro, Snowy Valleys and Wentworth. @johnbarilaro

16.01.2022 We need your assistance! The SAP project is not getting enough input from small to medium sized business and this could impact our collective futures. Please consider this survey- its takes only 10mins, however its impact may be felt for a long long time. http://www.planning.nsw.gov.au/snowymountains

13.01.2022 I am pleased to advise that Rex Airlines has reversed their previous decision and will continue to fly between Cooma and Sydney. I met with Deputy Chair John S...harp earlier this month and he made it clear to me that unless the Federal Government continued with the Regional Aviation Network Support program then the airline simply couldn't afford to keep flying to Cooma in the current economic climate. That support has now been extended until September 2021. Fares for travel from April onwards will be available for sale this evening. Qantas will also be operating flights from Sydney to Cooma and Brisbane to Cooma over the ski season. It's been a tough 12 to 18 months for the Snowy Monaro, with two airlines flying into the region I am keen to make sure we position ourselves to make the most of this opportunity. 13.01.2022 Further to the story yesterday on the trace of Covid found in Perisher sewage. This response today to say Perisher is NOT a hotspot From the NSW Health Departme...nt. There has been some misinterpretation of yesterdays media statement about the SARC-CoV-2 virus detection in the sewage in Perisher. This is NOT the same has having a positive COVID-19 case in the community. Perisher is NOT a Hotspot as there have been NO cases of COVID-19 detected here to date. Perisher IS an area of increased surveillance. We are asking anyone who is in Perisher, or has been to Perisher in the last 2 weeks to CLOSELY MONITOR FOR SYMPTOMS. If you have ANY SYMPTOMS (even very mild) PLEASE GET TESTED and ISOLATE awaiting your results. Please also remind your staff and guests to be vigilant with hygiene, cleaning and physical distancing. The Perisher clinic is currently operating 9:30 2:00 pm everyday from the NPWS building until further notice to encourage additional testing. We do NOT need to test otherwise healthy staff in the Valley at this stage. If there are any changes to this situation we will let you know.

Great to catch up with Manuela to hear what she loves about Jindabyne, and what she thinks will make it even better. 11.01.2022 The vision for the Snowies 1/5: Adventure + Ecotourism The vision is looking to transform Australias premier snowsport destination into a year-round alpine mecca. The Snowies are the most seasonal tourism region in all of Australia, with approximately 60% of its economic activity taking place within three months of the year during peak winter season, and the remaining 40% spread across the other nine months. By attracting, incentivising, and planning for more adventure and... ecotourism attractions like mountain biking, rock climbing, hiking, camping, ziplining, bungy jumping, waterskiing, and fishing, well transform the Snowies into a place youll want to visit during every season. 05.01.2022 Australias economy is made up of 3.5 million powerhouse local, small businesses. They keep their local economies going, employ locals, and contribute to local... community organisations like sports groups or school fairs. Australia just wouldnt be the same without them. Theyre our Go-to People. DM us a small business you love with your story about them, so we can share it with the rest of Australia.

05.01.2022 The vision for the Snowies 4/5: Design + Culture Its no question that when Sydneysiders, Canberrans, or people in regional NSW think of a winter getaway, they think of the Snowy Mountains - the only local option for snow. But when we think about why people might visit the area outside of winter, the Snowies have to compete against beach holidays along the NSW coast, hiking holidays in the blue mountains, wine tasting in the hunter valley, and a range of other destinations ...across the state and country. The future of the Snowy Mountains will showcase its unique experiences on offer: a character-filled, liveable, and lakeside alpine town; a vibrant waterfront with cafes and restaurants that spill out along the lake; opportunities to learn about Aboriginal culture and heritage; and food and wine trails dotted with craft breweries, artisan distilleries, cellar doors, and farm-to-table experiences. 02.01.2022 The vision for the Snowies 5/5: Infrastructure + Connections The last of our five part series for our vision for Australias Snowy Mountains, is all about connections. We want to improve access to the mountains, and so were investigating whether a new airport in Jindabyne will do just that. We also want to improve visitor experience in the region, with public transport between Jindabyne and the resorts, better managed roads and parking, and a more walkable, cyclable, and ...accessible town centre. And if the past few months have taught us anything, its that digital connectivity is important too, so the Snowies of the future will embrace technology to improve quality of life and visitor experience.
