A special mention to Riannah Kell who took on the 58km ride at only ...13, along with her Dad Tony Kell the token male on the team and Dani Kell -team Keloton! 17.01.2022 Massive congratulations to Jindabyne Girl Riders/Jindy Girl Riders leader Vanessa Knee and also Jindabyne Trail Stewardship on being named Community Awards winn...ers at the Mountain Bike Australia Achievement Awards night at the weekend! Vanessa (pictured) won the Club Volunteer of the Year for NSW and JTS The Friends of the Trails Award nationally. Vanessa was nominated for her many years of work in encouraging people to ride mountain bikes, particularly women and children, in the Snowy Mountains. Her nominee remarked upon her support for events as a rider, coach, supporter and encourager, her development of school and community MTB programs, her development of new coaches, her support of various mountain bike clubs, her social media presence, her support for riders who race and her passion for mountain biking generally. Jindabyne Trail Stewardship was nominated for its work in maintaining the local Jindabyne MTB trail newwork, bringing together members of the community to help out on monthly trail days and progressing mountain biking as a sport generally. The awards were presented at a function held during the MTBA national MTB championships, but neither local winner was in attendance - they were too busy getting on with the roles they won their awards for! Vanessa was running the Jindabyne Happiness Weekend, jampacked full of activities including mountain biking, to encourage locals and visitors who were knocked down by the bushfires; while the JTS was running another trail maintenance day! They were in esteemed company. Lachie was the only rider in the front bunch riding w...ithout team support but managed to pull of 13th place in a super power elite field. Tough conditions in extreme winds the whole ride, cold and sleet at the top of Perisher. A strong performance for an up coming junior, in the mix with such an elite bunch. Here's a few snaps of the pre-dirt drills building confidence in turns and level pedals/attack positions. ...Each of them then put this into practice on a dirt berm and rollers, and saw first hand how being brave with your eyeline and trusting your bike makes for great flow.
