It perfectly encapsulates why we do what we do at Share the Dignity, and why #itsinthebag is so significant to the beautiful people it supports. ... I recently left my abusive partner after months of planning. Today I received keys to a safe house for myself and 2 young children. I also received a bag. Not just any bag, but a bag that brought tears to my eyes. I packed up our whole lives in less than 3 hours and of course I didn’t remember the simple things I would need for myself. This bag will make my transition in my new home easier. To most people, it’s just a bag. To me, it’s the start of my new life. I will wear my bag with pride and cherish it for years to come. Thank you so much! It brings us so much joy to receive a message like this. It shows how big an impact even small acts of kindness can bring to people who are hurting. As this woman expressed, the bag can signal a new start, a chance to feel loved, and a reason to hope for a brighter future.
