23.01.2022 1880 It is 1880. Victoria is still a British colony and will be so for another 20 years. There is no electricity. Transport is horse and cart or steam engines. Going places is an effort. There is a good chance the coins in your pocket were probably made in Britain. Bush rangers still maraud around Victoria and Ned Kelly is due to be hung. Vast forests cover southern Australia and Jindivick was in the middle of some of the deepest. If you could listen to the sounds of those... times, many would be unrecognisable; long gone. Some still exist today, but only as part of relics in old technology museums. However, there is one sound you could have heard then, back in 1880, which has not changed in 140 years and you can still hear today; and that is the crisp thunk of a cricket bat hitting a cricket ball. To a cricketer, that sound, combined with the smell of cut grass, brings out all of the emotions and desires they associate with competition and they are the same as those experienced by people generations ago. The other thing that still exists from that time may surprise you: Jindivick Cricket Club. Hard to believe, but cricket was already alive and well in 1880. Jindivick, Warragul, Darnum, Neerim, Buln Buln, Drouin, and many other towns were already playing each other in organized fixtures. Not as many games as today, but still a season. Some people dismiss sport because there are more important things in life than scores at the end of a match. Of course thats true, but if the pandemic has taught us something, it is that ordinary sounds like a bat striking a ball symbolise a time when a community is close enough and unthreatened enough to enjoy something that is not linked directly to survival. That is a luxury we hope to regain as soon as possible and one that must not be taken for granted ever again. Jindivick Cricket Club has survived two World Wars, the pandemic of 1917, the Great Depression. With that sort of history in mind, we announce that The Jindivick Cricket Club Annual General Meeting will be on Friday 12 June, 7.30. We invite interested people to come along and be part of something local and enduring. There’s something most people can do to assist with these sorts of clubs: you don’t need to be a player. At this stage we don’t know if this will be in a physical venue or online. The club’s committee has been meeting online fortnightly and there won’t be a problem if we have to conduct the AGM over the internet. We will make a decision closer to the date. Please let us know if you’re interested in coming along: it’ll help with our decision. Regards Mark Braddick, Secretary 0401161144 See more

21.01.2022 Heart Starter: Thanks to Trish Johnson from the local ambulance service, who came up to Jindivick Cricket Club to explain the use of the defribulator and to do a short session with the mini-hearts to inform players about the speed and level of pressure needed to do CPR. Like many public halls, Kydd-Parke Reserve has a defrib available 24/7 for emergency use. Pictured: Sean Viotto trying to get the pace for 120 a minute
20.01.2022 Members of the Jindivick Cricket Club have learned of the passing of John-Paul D'Amico. We are saddened by this tragic news and we wish to extend our sincere condolences to his family. This must be one of the hardest things in life to bear and we wish you peace in this impossible moment. We also recognise his contribution to the WDCA, with his friendly, competitive spirit and willingness to share his love for the game with everyone; team mates and opposition alike. We are thinking of our friends in cricket, especially at Western Park cc and Yallourn North cc
19.01.2022 Well done yesterday on some great cricket. Covid Cup C grade was at Jindivick and had a good win against Iona. We held Iona to 109 and managed to get the score with four wickets down. Our bowling was tight, and apart from the usual experienced contributors, it was great to see young Harrison Moore stepping up to get four wickets. It's very exciting to see our young members coming up and shining. Our top six bats performed well, with a solid start from the openers. Top score...s were Eddie McGillivray with 28, Jarratt Eastburn with 40 no and Mick Tumino with 22 no. Well done boys. In the Covid D section we had a draw, with the game poised at an interesting stage. Jindi held Western Park to 120 all out, which is a good effort, as I notice there were a few good bats in there. The wickets were shared around mostly in two's, although Tim Jeffrey picked up a 3/23. Well done Tim on your first game back. Many of the young guys in this side have come up from the Under 16's last year and have performed well in seniors for a while now. Dicko opened and watched three bats depart around him, but was cruising along at 29 n.o, with Shane Hoskins starting to settle in on 9 n.o. before the rain. These formats do make it hard to get everyone doing something each game, and the rain didn't help too much, so hopefully we can see a whole day of action next week. Under 16's report shortly. 18.01.2022 Thanks to the local Drouin and Warragul Gazette for this amazing picture. Kydd-Parke Reserve is a great venue. Its views and integrated setting makes it one of Baw Baw Shire's gems.

17.01.2022 Jindivick Cricket Club is a local club that offers cricket playing opportunities for juniors and seniors. We try hard to value all of our players and we have a good mix of locals and others who choose to come in from all over the district. The club is situated at the beautiful Kydd-Parke Reserve 1120 Jacksons Track, Jindivick, overlooking Warragul and surrounding townships. We are a relaxing 20 minute drive from Warragul. We play at Jindivick and around the district, which is... roughly bordered by Tynong to Yarragon. The club is always looking for new players to come and enjoy the country experience. The start of the cricket season is tentatively planned for mid October if the covid restrictions are lifted. We are welcoming questions and expressions of interest for the coming season. We generally field under 12, 14 and 16 plus around 4 senior teams. Game days are Saturdays for seniors, Wednesday afternoons for 12’s, Monday afternoons for under 14’s and Saturday afternoons for under 16’s. Enquiries welcome: Secretary: Mark Braddick 0401161144 [email protected] Secretary: Steven Fricke 0401022944 See more
15.01.2022 Club Update: Tuesday 29-09-20 The committee met last night and have decided to go ahead with training from this Thursday 1 October. There has been a lot of covid information to work through, and training will have several important aspects that people need to be aware of. The nets are being pressure cleaned tomorrow (Wednesday), as there has been no usage over many months and there is a lot of debris and moss embedded. The club has to implement the following measures as part ...of the covid prevention strategies as directed by the DHHS: Download a QR code reader to your phone from the app store. Scan the code as you get to the clubroom. It will look like the pic below. Reading that code will take you to a website where you will answer some basic questions. We will do the same thing on the way out. If you don't use a phone you can sign a visitor book. This will record exactly who was present and when. Non-players in the club environment e.g. parents etc must sign in too. We will need to hand sanitise upon entry and exit. Masks will be worn when people are not actively training Teams will train in groups and stay in the same training groups for two weeks. Groups are maximum of 10 and will train in different parts of the facility. Only two nets operational for groups, bowling machine may go into middle net. The current message from the authorities, in this early stage, is ARRIVE, TRAIN and LEAVE. You will use the same ball all training when you are in the nets, and you will wipe it down at the end of the session. You can bring your own or use a club one. Activities that use a common ball will see the ball wiped regularly. Please let us know ahead of time if you are training on the day, so planning can be speeded up. OUR CLUB TAKES ITS RESPONSIBILITY TO ACT IN THE PUBLIC INTEREST SERIOUSLY. See more

12.01.2022 Jindivick Cricket Club We have a few events coming up you may be interested in: Family Evening - 29 February: . We are celebrating the end of the under 12 season with a Jumping Castle and some other activities like the ones we run for Halloween. There will be a bbq and some finger foods. Drinks at bar prices. There will also be a short presentation of momentos for the under 12 cricketers and coaches. Start time: 6.30 onwards. Cost: Gold Coin donation per child. $1000 Draw...: a $50 ticket gets you finger food, subsided drinks and the chance to win the $1000 prize. All purchased tickets start in the pot and are eliminated on a regular basis throughout the night, until one ticket holder remains. The night is combined with the club’s most valuable player vote count. Cricket Finals: As is usually the case, the Jindivick ground will host semi-finals in juniors and seniors, and a Grand final in seniors. Come by and watch cricket at one of the best viewing grounds in the state and have a beverage or a bit of a munch while you’re at it. Semi’s dates: Saturday 14 and Sunday 15 March, from 9.00 a.m. Grand Final Dates: Saturday 21 and Sunday 22 March from 1.00 p.m. Other Club News: The reserve is starting to see some undesirable calling-cards from unknown visitors, and we’d appreciate locals helping us to keep an eye out. Things like illegal dumping of domestic rubbish, minor damage to the toilets and unauthorized vehicles doing wheelies on the ground have all occurred in recent times. Perhaps a call or email to us will help us to determine appropriate security measures in our discussions with council. Rooms bookings: The rooms and surrounds are often hired and there are many happy users. Enquiries for functions and other uses welcome. Go Jindi! 08.01.2022 Club Update: Good afternoon Jindi member and supporters. Here is our latest news: Stand alone one-day competition for seniors now starting 10 October. At this stage this is the same date for Under 16's, Under 12's to start either 21 or 28 Oct. Senior Training and Under 16's will start as soon as the club committee feels that we can satisfy all of the safety requirements around Covid as specified by the gov and Cricket Vic. and have the people in place to get it right. Possib...ly Sunday, but more likely Tuesday of next week. We are putting together measures around: - Contactless check-ins, cleaning processes for shared spaces and equipment, use of masks and sanitisers where necessary and the relevant signage as mandated by the gov. We are determined to get this right, as we know the stakes are incredibly high for the state and everybody involved. We are getting involved with online courses and are doing a webinar tonight with Cricket Victoria to get information on best practice. See more
08.01.2022 We wish our sponsors The Jindi Caf all the best in their new location, which is across the road and down a bit, where the nursery used to be. It's a classy location and we're sure the smell of that home cooking will probably drive the primary school mad. Good Luck Goodwins! And go Jindiiii!
07.01.2022 Good luck tomorrow guys! Jiiiindeee!
06.01.2022 Commitment to Covid Safety Policies: As a club we are fully committed to providing a safe environment for members of our club (volunteers, players, families, spectators) and the wider community and are committed to providing quality practices in line with guidance available from Sport Australia, Cricket Australia, Cricket Victoria, our local council, the Victorian State Government / Department of Health & Human Services and other relevant authorities applicable to our club. W...e acknowledge that Cricket in a pandemic is a privilege, not a right. We all need to ensure we are all doing the right thing to ensure the safety of players, volunteers, officials and the local community. We also acknowledge the key dates outlined within the Victorian State Government’s Roadmap for re-opening will be followed as we undertake cricket activities during the 2020/21 season and we commit to adhering to the latest advice from Cricket Victoria, the Victorian State Government and the Department of Health & Human Services in this regard. It is important for Cricket Associations and Clubs to lead and promote a strong culture of COVID-19 safety for the health and wellbeing of participants and the broader community as any breaches could have ramifications for members of the community and the continuation of the season. 06.01.2022 Congratulations to Mick Dixon on taking out the club's Most Valuable Player Award, on the weekend. The award comes about through the votes from opposition captains for every senior grade in every game. Apart from having a very good year with the bat, Dicko is a worthy winner because the club has built it's 4ths around him and he has managed this sometimes difficult job expertly and maintained great morale down there. We'll say more about Dicko and other trophy winners at our upcoming Presentation Night. (Date and time to be announced shortly)
