24.01.2022 I want as many people as possible to see this news article. It is a serious matter, and more people need to know about it. At least half of the houses I work on across Sydney have VIR still in service, and its one of the most common faults that need fixing. The hard reality is that its a costly repair to your home, but what is you and your families safety worth to you? Please, if your home was built as early as the 60s or older, have a licensed electrician that you trust do an inspection for you so that the danger can be removed

21.01.2022 Electrical Safety Information Due to the windy conditions we are currently experiencing, I thought I would post on the risks around damaged electrical power lines. As we all know its a fairly common occurrence during conditions like this, and many people are unaware of the immediate dangers involved. Yesterday I was assisting local area police with fallen power lines in Engadine and I was surprised to find that even they hadnt been trained in basic knowledge on how t...o treat these situations. Always assume power lines are live and capable of killing anyone who comes into contact with the line or anything nearby. Within a 15m radius of the fallen line, one of the immediate dangers is step and touch potentials. These are a hidden and potentially very dangerous hazard which can lead to serious and fatal injuries. Within this radius, even in the short distance of one step, there can be a big difference in voltages making you the perfect path for electricity, even with rubber footwear. This means electricity will pass through you, and can kill you instantly. If for whatever reason you find yourself within this 15m radius, you must move away very slowly without lifting your feet from the ground and without touching anything around you. The best method is to shuffle your feet in very short motions until you are well out of the 15 meter distance. I hope everyone has found this information useful, because you never know, you could potentially save a life with it one day!
