04.01.2022 We are immersed in the Melbourne community ! Winner of the heritage award!

03.01.2022 what a honour!!!!! The jury's comments: Winner, Heritage Award A key objective of running Snapped is to deploy entrants to capture Melbourne here and now for the future. The inaugural Snapped Heritage Award was introduced this year in recognition and encouragement of this aim. The Melbourne Library Service Community Heritage Team reviewed the pool of entries against award-specific criteria. The winning photo would:... - be aesthetically pleasing in colour, composition and subject - be identifiably Melbourne - capture Melbourne at a particular place and time - contain contextual information and historical markers - likely be of historic interest and significance in the future. Under Sandridge Bridge provides us with a striking, unusual and compelling vantage point while gathering vast and intriguing detail of our city. Anchored beneath the mighty, robust underside of the bridge we feel as though we are observing the city incognito and therefore seeing it as it really is. We begin right up close to both original and recent components of the bridge, then move out to the familiar Banana Alley vaults and wharf on the left, followed by a glance at the skyscrapers of the city centre, before crossing over the Southbank Pedestrian Bridge only to arrive at a litter trap. Captured at high resolution, the image contains a wealth of detail that can be scoured by history-loving detectives when viewed on a large scale. The photo majestically records Melbourne at a particular place and time while also being something we’d love to hang on our wall for years to come. Under Sandridge Bridge Jose Baptista See more
