12.01.2022 Hope everyone had a wonderful holiday weekend, exciting things happening over the next few months at Japan Karate Association Karate-Do Australia Wood Dojo Mand...urah....Dan gradings, kyu gradings judges seminars, special kata and kumite seminars, visiting JKA HQ instructor and of course preparation for selection for the 2017 JKA World Cup. Only five months, just over 25 weeks or 175 days before selections in March 2017. You should be training hard now!! JKA KDA students make sure you have registered your intent to compete for selection with your instructor who will forward your name to Sensei Jim Wood MBE. JKA Wood Dojo Mandurah and JKA Roweville already have students registered for selection.

12.01.2022 I realised I was one off only 2 female JKA Dojo Heads here in Western Australia....a state twenty times the size of the UK and wondered if there are other coun...tries or areas in the world where we are still a very small minority. Looking at the entries on 2014 JKA World Cup in Tokyo there are half as many entries in the female categories as the men’s. So how can we promote JKA karate to girls and women....Facebook perhaps? For those who don’t know who I am... Aileen Wood 5th DAN JKA, my husband is Jim Wood MBE 7th DAN JKA. With each practice session at the dojo, students kneel in the seiza position and repeat these five precepts out loud. This process reminds students of the right attitude, frame of mind and virtues to strive for both within the dojo, and outside. Jinkaku kansei ni tsutomuru koto... 03.01.2022 14 members of JKA KDA Western Australia from JKA Perth JKA Wood Dojo Mandurah and JKA Fremantle took part in an invitational Shotokan competition in Perth last weekend. They brought back 9 Gold 6 Silver and 7 Bronze. Sensei Jim Wood would like to congratulate everyone on their efforts in representing our organization JKA KDA and in particular thank you to Sensei Carl Preller for his assistance during this event. (Photos to follow) JKA World Cup 2017 in Ireland is on the horizon, selections will take place in Melbourne next March and JKA KDA students should register their interest in selection now! We already have students from JKA KDA in WA registered to compete in the selection process. Do not miss the deadline of 30th September 2016.
