25.01.2022 Lovely little kata - coming along nicely girls.

25.01.2022 Great way to end the term - bare foot bowls with the karate family.

23.01.2022 A very happy Christmas from our karate family to you and your family.

22.01.2022 Some great stretches in here that we do at karate.

22.01.2022 Good luck to our competitors tomorrow facing their toughest competition so far at the Queensland state titles. There will be some nervous kids tonight but please know in your heart that your karate family are proud of each and every one of you for having the courage to give it go.

21.01.2022 This is why karate is a lifelong study.

20.01.2022 This weekend over 200 karateka will compete over 2 days in the state titles. We are very proud to be taking 11 students along to compete. This is the first time our club has entered QLD state championships and it will be the biggest competition our kids have experienced so far. Regardless of results, we are all proud of the effort each of you have put in to get to this point. #proudsensei #karatefamily

14.01.2022 Most people who study karate choose not to compete, however, some students like to add that element into their karate journey. We have 2 weeks until the biggest competition our club has ever entered and we have some kids competing for the first time ever! Each student has their own battle to win before they even face an opponent and that’s the beauty of competition - it develops character. Some benefits of competition we see are; 1. Competition gets us out of our comfort zon...e 2. It lets us test our skills against unknown opponents 3. It teaches us to win with humility and lose with grace 4. It opens our eyes to a wider community and different perspectives 5. It teaches us to play by the rules 6. It teaches us that life sometimes hands us bad decisions but we survive 7. It gives us an opportunity to manage our emotion and develop resilience 8. It inspires us when we see more accomplished karateka 9. It encourages team work and teaches how to support others 10. It develops commitment, rewards dedication and shows what it takes to be successful. And....it’s fun, especially if you are privileged enough to travel the world doing what you love with your #karatefamily

12.01.2022 Enrolling now for Term 1. Register for a free karate trial and build self control, confidence, focus, discipline and fitness. Tues + Thurs YMCA North Lakes... Juniors 4-5pm (from age 6) Seniors 5-6pm

07.01.2022 Fun partner work tonight. Some fairly spectacular crashes and some interesting push ups happening where you don't even need to bend your elbows. #karatekids

06.01.2022 Good progress being made on making that back foot work harder and not having a 'lazy leg' that we drag along the floor. A wooden floor gives good blisters on lazy feet. Ouchy!

04.01.2022 It's easy to see success and want it but the actual journey is where the rich learnings are found. Every successful person has to walk their own path, jump their own life hurdles, bunker down and persevere in those 'flat' moments. If anyone sells you success and progress as 'easy' or a 'bed of roses' RUN!!!! Some of our kids are almost 3yrs into their karate journey now and their development is a privilege to witness. Yes, they can punch and kick but the priceless lessons... of discipline, effort, resilience and the awareness that life won't just hand everything to them on a plate are far more valuable that a solid body kick. Think we might need to work on our team pose though our kids -v- the vision #effort #discipline #journey #lifelessons #characterbuilding #karatefamily #gratitude

03.01.2022 Students: "Sensei, what happens if someone strangles you from behind when you are sitting in a chair and then another few people join in to strangle the strangler?" Sensei: Is class finished yet? (Inside thought)

02.01.2022 You don’t need a gold medal to have a champion mindset.

01.01.2022 Very proud to be 1 of the 34 instructors across Australia offering a scholarship for 2021.

01.01.2022 Best quote of the day "its not about IF you win or lose, it's about HOW you win or lose." So proud of how we conduct ourselves in the face of challenges, disappointments and wins.
