24.01.2022 With only a few weeks to go, we can hardly wait to share our news with you.

24.01.2022 We are very lucky to have Tayla on our team. We are pleased to show you who she is. Tayla is the first person you’ll be greeted by when you visit our funeral home. Getting to know you... FIVE fast facts about Tayla ... If I wasn't working in a Funeral Home I'd probably be: I would see myself Working as a receptionist within a Law firm. I always had a dream of working with Children, I got that opportunity after finishing High School working in a Daycare and then moving onto working in a high School with Children with Learning difficulties, however I always went back to reception work. If you could be a fictional character who would you choose: If I could be a fictional character, it would be Tris Prior No matter how hard things get and no matter how many times you get knocked to the ground, her bravery, love and care was what got her through those times. That is a great inspiration to me. What does a typical day look like for you: Get up at about 6.30, Breakfast, clean up, shower and then get reading for work. I head into the office to start my work day. Open up, turn everything on. I get the jobs I need to do done. I finish work at 4:30 and then head home, Start getting dinner ready while watching a bit of TV. Have dinner, Clean up, have shower and then head to bed. Tell us three things most people don't know about you: * I graduated year 12 * I am petrified of Spiders * I moved away from Kingaroy for 3 years for work What's your greatest achievement so far? My greatest achievement so far is moving away from my family to a different City where I didn’t know anyone to work in a job that was very important to me. I have since finished that job and moved back to Kingaroy into my own place working with Jason and the wonderful team at Killick Family Funerals.

22.01.2022 Sometimes when a person dies suddenly or unexpectedly, the police may get called to get some details on behalf of the Coroner. This is a fairly routine process and nothing to be worried about. The police will call their contracted funeral directors who will come and take the person to either a Coroners mortuary, or back to their own premises to be held securely while a doctor may be contacted or various other delays. The funeral directors that do this work tender for the cont...ract every few years. Most tender for it in the hope of securing most of the funerals for the people they are called to pick up for the Coroner. Some, we have learned (from police officers that have caught them saying it), go as far as telling families that since the police called them, the families have to use them. This is simply untrue. In fact, there are specific clauses in their contract designed to protect vulnerable families. These clauses forbid even a business card being given out by the contractors. The government pay all transportation costs involved with the contracted funeral Director for the services that they provide for the Coroner. The family have the freedom to choose which funeral directors they prefer to use. The choice is absolutely yours. Killick Family Funerals has never, nor ever will, tender for the government contracts. We prefer focussing our efforts and attention on the families we are called to serve.

22.01.2022 On Friday we stopped at the BP in Murgon to buy a drink after a funeral. A lady approached us in the servo and asked us if the hearse was ours. She explained that she was previously a funeral directors wife and saw the funny side to where we parked the hearse noting the sign behind the car. Thank you to the lady for giving us a laugh for the day.

14.01.2022 Recently we learned of two little ladies that had saved their money. Sadly on the day they went shopping someone stole their purchases. There seemed nothing else to do but to help the girls out. Today they came in with the most wonderful card they made for us.... Thank you Tiffany and Bella, it was our pleasure to help

13.01.2022 I was asked some time ago what my passion is in relation to my role as a Funeral Director. At first I thought my passion was helping, then I thought my passion was caring for and protecting the dead. After further thought, I thought that my passion was my absolute belief in funeral service.... While all the above is true, I have discovered my passion. I have a passion to serve. I have a gift of hospitality. I'm not referring to serving scones and coffee type of hospitality. I'm referring to the type of hospitality that says "I'm here for you", I'm here to help you when it matters in a way which best serves your need. The type which says "You can call me at any hour of any day" I'm grateful that I've discovered my passion, Thank God, Im blessed to be living my passion.

12.01.2022 Another timely reminder of the value of using a family owned and operated funeral home. The smaller companies have more flexibility and are more transparent with their pricing. It’s worth pointing out though that their funeral directors are mostly incredible caring people. It’s higher up the chain that is the issue.

11.01.2022 * Edit * these vacancies have now closed. We will sort through the cover letters and resumés and contact those who we initially choose to interview. With respect, due to the overwhelming number of applications, we will not be able to contact everyone. Please accept our sincere thanks to everyone who has taken the time to apply....Continue reading

09.01.2022 Next up in our series of how to prepare for a funeral is where to have the service. These days there are many options available to you when it comes to the service. It can be held at a church, in the funeral home chapel, a park, at a home, on the beach and there are lots of other places that might be considered deeply personal to the deceased or the family. The most important thing you can do is ask those close to you before they're gone.... We all deserve a funeral that celebrates our life with care in a dignified and affordable way.

09.01.2022 Queenslanders will have new Covid-19 restrictions come into effect next Tuesday. We will be able to have gatherings of up to 200 people attend funerals.
