25.01.2022 Its been a while again since I posted. Heres a little simple retile of a en-suite in gosnells we recently finished. Retaining the original shower taps, vanity and toilet. This room like the other at the house had a water leaking thru the walls and rather than do a bandaid fix we undertook a complete retile to fix the issue for good. This house had no waterproofing prior to us stripping it out. We also lowered the hob, brett and Scott from port glass will be installing a new semi frameless shower screen sometime next week.
24.01.2022 So tomorrow is fit out day.. progress has been made. How much does just grout change the feel of a room! I cant wait to show you the finished product tomorrow night! Cheers James

20.01.2022 Oakford Progressing along well.. with just one wall left to tile and the return in the window.we should hopefully get some floor down tomorrow. Looking like a Thursday possible finish. Subway tiles are a lot of work. Cheers James
20.01.2022 Regrout done on a shower cubicle that had cracked grout in every line. Three badly cracked tiles were replaced with spares supplied by the client. Acrylic grout was used to seal up the walls which we have a 100% strike rate with. We also replaced a badly damaged tile in the laundry which you probably wont be able to spot. We are onto a bathroom renovation atm watch for the update photos and maybe the odd Dean scare video.
19.01.2022 Productive day in Ferndale today.. nib wall rendered, plinth built and the rest of the floor (bar a little in the toilet as I couldnt get out) done.. got a day in the office to catch up on quotes and invoices tomorrow. Then back to Ferndale Thursday to start the waterproofing. Amazing what I can do when Im only thinking for myself.
18.01.2022 Some more progress pics of the Ferndale en-suite. Nib wall and window all done. Just skirts in the toilet and one floor tile left to do. We will start grouting this up tomorrow. Should look the goods when its all done.

18.01.2022 Traded my apprentice in for a better looking one this week... Deans off at tafe this week so with screeding about to start any help is good help. Katie trading in her office desk for some on site training. Im Aiming to waterproof the shower cubicle before the weekend so its well cured by Monday ready to start tiling..
18.01.2022 Some progress shots from Ferndale. We are tiling this will look awesome when completed.
17.01.2022 So we had a good day on site today. The room had dried out nicely with the clients leaving the heater on for us into the evening and this morning. We had a work experience girl Abbey join us onsite today. She got to experience the trade learning how to cut and lay tiles, how to mix adhesive and render, how to setout a bathroom for subway tiles, how cleanliness on a worksite is important and to work as part of a team. I was pleasantly surprised how quick she picked up the bas...ics of the trade. She will definitely make a good apprentice if she decides to follow on with the trade. Dean has come along in leaps and bounds over the last few months. Im estimating about 6-8 months before he is off doing his own jobs under the JKP banner. We will be waterproofing tomorrow and laying maybe one wall as the the shower waterproofing will be across 4 of the 5 walls left to tile. Cheers for following James See more
17.01.2022 Ferndale en-suite done and dusted today. Now its up to the client cabinet maker to sort the duel bowl cabinet and Ryan to sort the cornices. All in all Im extremely happy with the finish of this room.. from design to completion we can help you with your bathroom the whole way.
16.01.2022 That was a house dean or a car
15.01.2022 Tiling done in Seville grove. Grouting and fit out to go. Would love some feedback if you wouldn’t mind sharing. Cheers James
15.01.2022 Ive had a lot going on quoting most days of the week as we welcome the busy run up to Xmas. This little shower base repair was done over about 5 visits allowing curing times inbetween. A rotted steel pipe was the cause of the showerbase failure all has since been replaced and repaired. 40mpa concrete used to lay a new base for the shower that was only 25mm thick to begin with.. owner couldnt source a mosaic close to what was there so we only repaired the floor section as instructed.
15.01.2022 So last week Dean was at tafe. His lecturer Ian is a man of lots of information and a amazing mosaicer! Deans starting to get a handle on things. Putting his hand up as the mosaic man at JKP. Small hands are good for something..
14.01.2022 This week we had something a little different. This was a previous client who couldn’t find someone to install his kitchen. We were quoting on the tiling when he asked the question how am I at installing kitchens? As a tiler I go ok at cabinet installing. We rendered the face brick to ready it for wall tiling squaring up the walls in the process. We will be back to tile this kitchen next week after Arron fits the new stone tops next Wednesday. We are starting a bathroom renovation in Seville grove next week so watch this space..
13.01.2022 We started the Forrestfield bathroom yesterday. We are setting this room up for a elderly gentleman that has had a stroke and required a easier access shower with no step if possible. So out come the bath where we discovered the original shower base. The floor waste pipe was completely rusted thru both internally and externally. This has all been replaced and should now drain 1000% better than it did. We removed half the archway to give that extra 100mm entrance just in case he ends up in a wheelchair. Tomorrow concreting and rendering. Cheers for following James
13.01.2022 Thankyou for 600..
12.01.2022 Dean after a few practice runs has impressed me with his reversing trailers.. hes miles better than before I gave him a few pointers. Still gotta practice between brick walls
12.01.2022 So today deano decided to take about 30 photos of his face on my phone.. so today we start the series the many faces of Dean Sit back and enjoy the show..
11.01.2022 I had a lovely email today from another happy client. Those following the page will recognise the Ferndale ensuite. They have forwarded the finish photos. absolutely stunning finish. the overall change is next level. Eat your heart out the block. Your thoughts on this room, like it or love it??
11.01.2022 Oakford en-suite is complete. Black fittings and dark wood grain vanity finish of this stylish room. To come is a new mirage semi frameless screen with a black frame and a black framed mirror to finish the room off. This will be fitted by Brett and Scott from Port Glass & Glazing Service later next week.. we are off to start a bathroom renovation on Monday in Forrestfield. Cheers for following James
10.01.2022 Seville grove bathroom is getting closer to completion. I should have the tiling sorted by hopefully tomorrow afternoon. I’ve had myself stretched pretty thin over the last couple weeks. I’m currently working 7 days a week to try to get thru this mad Xmas rush. Long days and no real time out is definitely draining on the mind. Really excited for holidays to get here. 5 weeks and counting.. cheers James
09.01.2022 So today we started the Seville grove bathroom renovation. We are taking this room from rundown and past it’s used by date to classy and functional. This room has had some home owner repairs over the years, Which we will show in a video shortly. We are moving the shower to the old bath location to make it more user friendly for the lady’s elderly father, nothing to step over and plenty of room for a chair if or when it’s needed. Will post some demo photos tomorrow as we were too busy removing the old room today. The guys from Byford Glass are installing the new window frame Wednesday. We hope to get the prep close to done this week aiming for waterproofing fri/sat if possible. Time will tell!! Thanks for following. Cheers James
08.01.2022 I completely forgot I took this video of Dean speed drying the vacuum hose after hosing it out after sucking up some concrete.. spin faster
07.01.2022 As the lead up to Xmas approaches there are a few key tips for sorting your renovation. 1) budget!!! set yourself a realistic budget. No company is going to perform a proper renovation for $2000. The standard bathroom renovation is between $11000-16000 depending on tastes, choices in materials and what is required. 2) source your tradesmen before you demolish your room.. good renovators are usually booked a couple months in advance at least in peak times. As this is the lea...d up to Xmas going of the previous 13 years running my business between September -August is the most intense quoting Ill do, most quality guys get booked into the new year in this gap. Dont be shocked when you call someone two weeks before Xmas and his answer is no sorry I cant help. 3) Use a qualified tradesman. Handymen will always be cheaper than a tradesman. Its like to old saying cheap labour isnt skilled and skilled labour isnt cheap 4) ask to see a trade certificate and portfolio of the tiler/renovators work! Any good tiler has a portfolio of jobs he has done, and can organise a site inspection for you of a previous job. No trade certificate means someone that hasnt had the proper training. 5) always waterproof!! allow curing times on render and screed. 6) never pay upfront for a renovation. Most businesses take instalments at intervals during a renovation. We for example take a materials deposit 1 week before a job to allow us to purchase any materials needed for that job, then once we start onsite we take the remainder at intervals 1/3 of remaining when we start a demolition, 2nd 1/3 when tiling commences and the final 1/3 on completion of our quoted work. Paying 100% up front gives you no real power if something is wrong with the job (ie poor tiling job, damages to room and surroundings). This system protects both the tradesman and the client. 7) patience. A good renovation takes planning. Double checking quantity of materials, sizes of fittings, design layout scheduling holdups of tradesmen etc Hope this helps some of you who are planning a renovation. We are fast booking up to Xmas. Currently a 9-10week wait time. I expect this to be booked into Feb-March by the end of September. Thanks for reading to the end. James
07.01.2022 Late finish tonight after finding out the grout needed for the bathroom was out of stock. Luckily I have a stockpile of grouts and was lucky enough to have the one I needed. I’ll be buttoning this job up tomorrow. Little bit of silicone work, connect a sink up, and fit a couple extra fixtures then pack up and head off to gosnells job to speed things up. All in all I’m wrapt with how this rooms turned out. Cheers James
07.01.2022 Somewhere in the craziness of this COVID situation I managed to sort some stuff out at home. Big Thankyou to Chris and Leno at Parkwood Plumbing Centre for hooking me up with some new raindrop goose neck showerheads. The original showerheads were fitted when I renovated the bathroom 15 years ago and they were within my budget back then. Being as tall as I am I always wanted to change the style of showerhead I installed. Now I no longer get shot in the face when I first turn the shower on...
06.01.2022 We have had this job and gosnells on at the same time, we started this one so gosnells render and screed could cure. This bathroom will look amazing when its finished. The bay window was removed with a new white laminate window fitted for some privacy. The owner had a bad leak from pipes in the walls which prompted their renovation, they organised their own electrician and plumber to sort the pipes and new lighting, Ryan the ceiling fixer has repaired the toilet lower skirt row and replaced the wall facing in the bathroom, we have squared up walls as the back wall was twisted and built the privacy bib wall where the new wall in shower will be. Watch this space this will look stunning when its finished.
05.01.2022 Walk thru on the finished Ferndale en-suite and closing the door on another quality renovation..
04.01.2022 So dean is coming along in leaps and bounds. Tackling his first kitchen splash back (with a little guidance) he done a lovely job. Turning out to be just as fussy as me
03.01.2022 I still enjoy this part of the job
03.01.2022 Not much to look at here but we have started a full en-suite renovation yesterday. This room will be a simple white subway tile and a 300 x 300 rectified floor tile. Black taps and fittings, small 750mm vanity and toilet. This will have a few of our little touches to the room. watch this space. James
03.01.2022 Client in Ferndale has supplied some before pics for comparison with the newly renovated bathroom. Im looking forward to seeing the screens and vanity installed.

01.01.2022 Big day today at oakford. All prepped and waiting for it to be dry enough to waterproof. We will commence tiling tomorrow on some of the walls. We also have another work experience kid doing some job placement over the next couple of weeks. This young lady is currently doing a pre app course. Its nice to give the younger generation a opportunity to see what the jobs like. Watch this space for pics of the tiling we are starting tomorrow. James
