24.01.2022 Just a quick note about parking and access to my room. There is metered parking along Bathurst Street to a max. of 1 hour, other wise there is the Melville Street Hobart Central Parking in which you will walk out onto Bathurst Street and you walk down across Elizabeth Street to get to my room, look for a sign saying Bikram Yoga and under that Heart Life Natural Therapy, that is located after Lifestyle furniture. To gain access to the premises you will normally have to ring the door bell to my room in which I can unlock the door. There are stairs to come up so if you are bring your baby he/she is best brought in a capsule.

23.01.2022 My Christmas closing times, yes its that time of year when everyone is busy. I get a lot of changes within the lead up to Christmas, appointment cancellations, moving appointment and unfortunately DNA (did not arrive). It is also a busy time for me with a lot of end of year kids things to attend so my hours that I work are less than they usually are, especially on the week prior to Christmas. My last day this year will be Friday 20th December, I will return on Thursday 2nd January 2020 and over the summer holidays I will be working shorter days until the kids go back to school in February. Once the kids are back in school I will be extending my hours that I will be working over a weeks period as my son starts secondary school and I wont have to do the school runs anymore. My new hours will show up on my online booking page.

19.01.2022 Meet my side-kick! Meet Bella, my cavoodle. Bella will be with me on my long days as we recently lost one of our other dogs (Bailey) and Bella has been quite stressed being at home on her own so I have started to bring her into work with me. She like to be fussed but quite happily lies on her bed or floor whilst Im treating.

19.01.2022 This could explain a lot.

18.01.2022 What to expect on your first visit. I will take a case history - this involves myself listening to the problem(s) that you have come to see me about, I will commonly ask what the problem(s) is, how long you have had the problem for, what the pain feel like, any aggravating and/or relieving factors etc. I will then ask questions about your past medical history, medications and your general health. After the consultation I will need to assess you to arrive at a diagnosis, this ...will involve doing specific tests (Orthopaedic/neurological/movement Tests). To do these tests, specifically the movement tests I will I will ask you to undress to your underwear, this allows me to see how your body moves and along with the tests & palpation allows me to arrive at a diagnosis. After that I will explain what my diagnosis is and tell you what my treatment plan is before treatment start. Common after treatment I will give exercises for you do to in-between treatments - these are important to do as they help maintain things between the treatments. See more

16.01.2022 At the moment it is business as usual, however given the current situation this may change, and may change within a day so if for some reason I have to close for a short period I will let everyone know ASAP. Recently today the Australian Massage Association recommended all massage business close, even though they can only recommend this they could take it further. This hasnt been recommended by Osteopathy Australia and/or AHPRA, if they do I will most likely follow there a...dvice. Given the current global situation due to the Coronavirus (COVID-19) it would be advisable that you do not attend your appointment if you are unwell with cold/flu like symptoms, or have been abroad recently. Please contact me if you are unsure.I have put in place as much precautions as I can to reduce any risk. This will take time between appointment so I can clean down surfaces, I appreciate your patience and I hope this doesnt disrupt things too much. Unfortunately this includes the use of alcohol wipes and bleach solutions to clean surfaces as any antibacterial wipes etc. are not effective on viruses. If you have any concerns please contact me. I hope you all keep well and safe. See more

15.01.2022 Update regarding my practice. After the recent announcement for certain businesses to close I have decided that I should increase the protection of my patients. At the moment I am able to stay open but this could change. I have decided due to the increased risk to people over the age of 60 I am reluctant to treat anyone over this age or who is at an increased risk. I am sorry for this decision but I need to do as much as I can to protect everyone. Once things have changed I will let you know. I hope everyone keeps safe.

08.01.2022 My Story - how I became interested in Osteopathy I left school when I was 16 whilst I was living in the UK in a small village called Bardsea near Ulverston in Cumbria. I left in June 1985 with not very good results in my CSEs (equivalent to year 10). In the area I lived most school leavers who werent going on to university started work in one of 3 main industries. These were Glaxo pharmaceutical (it was more who you knew rather than what you knew to get in), Kimberly-Clark ...and Vickers Shipbuilding & Engineering Ltd (VSEL). I started as an apprentice fitter/turner at VSEL in August 1985 which built diesel-electric submarines, nuclear submarines, surface to air missile launchers and tank turrets. I spent 4 years as an apprentice and once qualified as a tradesman I stayed on as a tradesman until 1992 when I left taking voluntary redundancy as the shipyard was scaling down its workforce and the area I was working in had to loose 2 people and as I was the last one to joint with the least experience I was the first one earmarked to go, so I left earlier so I could go back to school at the beginning of the school year. My interest of Osteopathy was sparked in the beginning of 1992 when I was working in a very cramped section of a sub lifting heavy pipes up and fitting then in position, afterwards I remember having a very sore and painful lower back, by the next day I was in a lot of pain with the pain travelling down my left thigh and leg with pins & needles in my foot. I had several days off work before going to see my GP who did several tests and sent me for an x-ray and I was told I had a slipped disc (not the correct terminology but that what you were told back then). I was referred to a physiotherapist who gave my exercises to do and used ultrasound therapy. I did my exercises and had 5 more treatment over a few weeks but I didnt improve. I returned to my GP who signed my off work for 1 month and was told to persist with the physio and exercises, this wasnt good enough for me. I decided to seek some other help and advice and went to see a local Osteopath and after 2 treatments I noticed a significant change, I was in less pain, had better movement and the thigh/leg pain had subsided and the pins and needles had reduced. I ended up having 4 more treatments over the month and returned back to work fully better. So, when I left VSEL in 1992 I went back to school to do my GCSEs and A-Levels (equivalent to years 10/11 & 12) into going to Uni to train as an Osteopath. I got the results I needed to study Osteopathy and started at the European School of Osteopathy in 1996 and Qualified in 2000. See more
