We wanted to give an update and let you all know that we are in discussions with the venue @royalhotelorange about using our situation as a positive learning tool to create change and education, and awareness within their businesses in regards to individuals with a disability. All we ever wanted from our post was to create awareness and change and moving forward we believe we may h...ave achieved that. The management staff of the venue have been sincere in their apologies and are keen to continue to create a more inclusive business for everyone to enjoy which is to be commended. 14.01.2022 We all see the world differently, we all experience life differently, we all want different things, we all have different opinions, our families are all different, our goals are different, our dreams and ambitions are different. Differences should be accepted, embraced and celebrated. Imagine a world without difference. How trite and uninteresting our world and our lives would be. We are experiencing momentous times in our world. One thing that sings the loudest is for equali...ty. Equality for who we are to be accepted, celebrated, respected and heard. Looting, violence, disrespect and hate is not the answer. The answers begin from the time we take our first breath. The first hug we get, the first words we are taught or hear. Equality needs to be part of our way of life from the day we are born. Hate and discrimination are learnt behaviours. That's where it needs to stop. It needs to stop in the language we use, the way we see other people, the way we react to others. We are all guilty of feeling entitled, of judging others, of wanting more then we really need. Until we truly believe that All lives Matter, the world will never change. People with disabilities have been rejected, discriminated against, made fun of, felt less worthy, segregated, hated on, disrespected for decades. Now... 2020 we still have to fight for their rights, their equality, their respect in this world, their right to live a normal ordinary life, their independence. We have to prove their need for support, we need to show up, we need to continue every day, every week, every year to advocate for the lives of people living with a disability. Without a loving family or a good support network their lives look anything but ordinary. The point to this post is All Lives Matter, whether you are white, black, yellow, disabled, homeless, rich, poor, old or young. We all shouldn't have to fight for equality, it should just be.. it should be taught from a young age. That way we wouldn't know what inequality looks like because it just wouldn't exist. When acceptance and respect of difference will be a way of everyday life. Violence and Hate is never the answer. #alllivesmatter See more

11.01.2022 A post to hopefully educate Like many other people at the end of a working week on a Friday Josh goes to lunch, enjoys a drink and heads for home. Yesterday was suppose to be just an ordinary Friday. But yesterday was anything but ordinary. The boys decided to head to orange as they have done numerous times before. What they experienced on Friday @royalhotelorange was nothing but humiliating, disrespectful, disappointing and down right offensive. After lunch had been... ordered & paid for, Josh and his SW headed to the bar to order a drink. Like any other Friday an alcoholic beverage had been ordered for Josh. To our disbelief the barman refused to sell Josh his drink. After asking the reason why and not getting an explanation followed by a rude head shake by the barman, Josh's SW strongly advocated on Josh's behalf & left the premises deciding to remove Josh from such an offensive situation. Due to the barman's clear lack of understanding of people with disabilities Josh missed out on his usual Friday lunch and drink and headed for home. A follow up phone call from Josh's mum to ask the reason why Josh was refused a drink & refusing to give an explanation or have a discussion, the phone call was abruptly ended with the barman (who alleges is the manager) hung up on her. Later an apology was received via a phone call from yet another manager. Although his apology on behalf of the premises was accepted, it is infuriating that in 2020 people with disabilities are still having to fight for basic human rights and the ability to enjoy everyday activities without having to deal with discrimination. Josh is a 21 year old man who has every right to enjoy an alcoholic beverage at a venue just like anyone else. It is NOT ok to treat people this way and I hope but I strongly doubt that the barman at the Orange premises has been made aware of his poor decisions. I hope by doing this post it brings more awareness for disabilities. It only may be a drink to some people and you may say it's no big deal, but denying Josh of his basic human rights is discrimination and that is a huge deal. #jlsmaillink #disabilityawareness #discrimination #educateinspirechange #sad See more
