22.01.2022 Holden commodore had come in running rough, we pulled the engine out to inspect and rebuild but this is what we found

22.01.2022 One of today's customers brought in his Holden VE SS to be lowered. The vehicle also had an engine misfire which after scanning the engine ECU we found an injector had failed. We replaced the injector, deleted faults and it was running smoothly again. After raising the vehicle on the hoist we found the left hand front tyre was about to blow out as the tyre was separating and exposing the metal wires inside. We replaced both front tyres, changed all springs then carried out a wheel alignment once work was completed.

20.01.2022 This diesel Ford Territory came in with poor performance including issues with stalling, surging and difficulty starting. The fault we found in the engine computer was low fuel pressure in the fuel rail to the injectors. The customer had taken the vehicle elsewhere prior and quoted to replace the high pressure fuel pump which is an expensive item. After our investigation, we found the low pressure electric fuel pump in the tank had failed which was causing the high fuel pressure pump to draw the fuel up instead of having it supplied. Once we replaced the electric fuel pump assembly and fuel filter, we deleted the faults, road tested and the vehicle was performing as normal. The right diagnosis has saved the customer thousands of dollars in repairs.

19.01.2022 This beautiful car came in today for a wheel alignment, it only had 15,000km and had almost scrubbed out the edge on the left hand front tyre. Is your new car correctly wheel aligned?

19.01.2022 Part 1. Engine timing chains. We are seeing timing chain issues on all makes and models. This Audi Q5 had no symptoms until it was too late. After inspecting we found that it had no compression on all cylinders. ... To gain access to the engine we had to remove the front of the vehicle. Once the timing covers were removed we found the timing chain had stretched and was not connecting to the camshaft sprockets. After removing the cylinder head we found that every inlet valve was bent and stuck open - this being the issue for no compression. It had had slight marks on the pistons from the valves, so we decided to remove the engine to inspect for any more damage. See more

18.01.2022 Part 2. Engine timing chains After disassembling the engine we did not find any other damage. We then decided to freshen up the engine. - Cylinder head was reconditioned with new valves. - Pistons were cleaned and checked for cracks but were still in good condition so new rings were fitted. ... - Engine block had cylinders honed and top of block was surfaced. - Crankshaft was checked and new bearings were fitted. Engine was then re-assembled with a new timing chain and guides. On assembly we found the direct fuel injectors to be slightly blocked from build up of carbon. This was causing the engine to run lean and detonate under combustion. Once the sensors pick up detonation it quickly changes the timing from advance to retard while accelerating, this then puts the timing chain under stress and starts to stretch. We also see timing chain issues in other vehicles without direct fuel injection, mainly the detonation is caused by poor fuel quality or running the vehicle on standard unleaded instead of premium unleaded.

15.01.2022 No wonder the timing is out

14.01.2022 This Toyota Hilux came in with poor engine performance. After investigation we found the inlet manifold had built up carbon and sludge causing poor air flow. We removed and cleaned all the parts so it would flow easy again and fitted a Ryco oil catch can. This will stop oil from the engine breathing system entering the intercooler and inlet manifold. A dirty job but a great end result.

06.01.2022 Interesting job this week! A Nissan Pathfinder had come in with the transmission in limp home mode (the vehicle was stuck in third gear). Carried out a fault check to find a circuit fault to a solenoid on the valve body inside the transmission.... Removed the valve body from the transmission to inspect the control unit circuit board and solenoids. We had found a broken circuit which was causing the fault. Carried out repairs to the circuit. Fitted the valve body, changed the filter, fitted the pan and filled the transmission with new oil. Checked faults and road tested and it was ready to go back to the customer!

04.01.2022 Nissan Navara YD25 timing chain upgrade kits. This kit converts the single row chain that drives the fuel pump/intermediate gear to a duplex/double row chain. The single row chain stretches severely over time, and in some cases we've seen the tensioner to completely pop out. This kit uses all high quality Iwis chains and nitrate hardened gears. An audible rattle will be heard on cold start up which will start to improve when the engine warms up, however if it is heard when engine is warm/operating temp then get it looked at asap.
