17.01.2022 We try to keep our sugar consumption down but do you keep hearing about alternatives and wonder what is what? It is worth remembering that artificial sweeteners are still quite ‘young’ in their usage and so the long term effects of replacing sugar with stevia in your tea or coffee (for example) are unknown. Better to give that regular addition of sweet stuff up completely. However, especially for this of us that like to bake and considering Christmas is fast approaching, here’s some info about different sweet things you may or may not choose to use in your treats.



17.01.2022 One of my favourite meals - good for any time of the day but I prefer it for 2nd breakfast after working the 6-8am slot. The asparagus, cappo and spinach (sometimes I use mushrooms and/or zucchini) has been cooked quickly in a pan with a dice sized lump of butter. Whole meal toast is my usual preference but that bagel was calling me today and we all deserve a treat sometimes right?!

Eating well does not have to mean missing out on your favourites. Two points to help: 1. Be a bit more tactical in your overall approach (I can show you how) 2. Have support from someone who won’t judge and won’t lose it when you partake in the birthday cake (someone meaning me of course!)... 13.01.2022 Stole this from a naturopath friend (thanks Sammantha) this is why BMI is not always the best indicator of health risk factors. Strong people are often heavy! I recommend using other ways to track your progress if you are transforming your body composition such as how your clothes fit, hip to waist ratio or waist to height ratio.

06.01.2022 One of my fav recipes from my Woman’s Weekly cookbook... Except I didn’t have any Chinese water cabbage so I subbed that for red and yellow capsicum, snow peas and zucchini!

03.01.2022 So these are guidelines and we are all different but some of the takeaway points to keep in mind are: Limit intake of processed foods such as chips, chocolates, plastic cheese, premade meals, pastries. Be careful of foods that have sugar and fat together such as ice cream, cream, some yoghurts, sweet pastry, cakes. Being slim is not a free pass to junk food: we all need to make sure we prioritise the nutrient dense foods such as vegetables, lean meat and eggs or legumes and quinoa before we reach for the pizza and hot chips
