15.01.2022 Additional supplies of Western Australia's iconic western rock lobster will be made available for WA families and tourists to enjoy over the summer festive seas...on through to Easter 2019. Western Rock Lobster CEO Matt Taylor said the industry strongly backed the Local Lobster Program.. "It allows this iconic product to be available locally and for tourists at reasonable prices," Mr Taylor said. "There is a social licence to fishing this community resource and we are well aware of that. This helps to service that and be good custodians."

15.01.2022 Did you know a western rock lobster can travel over a 1,000 kilometres up and down our coastline in its lifetime due to migratory behaviour and ocean currents? ... Thankfully, your journey to find the freshest local crays for Easter needn’t be as exhausting! The Geraldton Fishermen's Co-operative team not only catch these tasty crustaceans, but also ensure only the best quality crays end up on your dinner plate. To get your hands on some in time for Easter, visit their website www.wacrays.com.au and select from an extensive variety of sizes; be sure to order asap and allow time for collection. See more

15.01.2022 JMG Lobster is a privately owned business exporting Live West Australian Rock Lobster direct to the overseas market. Having established a fully functioning processing plant in Western Australia we exported our first live shipment of crayfish overseas in 2017 and again 2018, 2019 and 2020. With our business operations positioned to target the export market, we are actively seeking interested parties that are looking to lease quota or interested in a share fishing arrangement. We aim to work collaboratively with current operators and establish beneficial alliances and to meet the demand for high quality Australian seafood overseas. For further information on how you can get involved, contact us on [email protected]

01.01.2022 Exciting news! Please share! Western Rock Lobster and the Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development are pleased to be hosting the 12th Internati...onal Conference and Workshop on Lobster Biology and Management (ICWL) in Fremantle, Western Australia on 18-23 October 2020! This lobster workshop returns to where it all began in Western Australia over 40 years ago when a group of 37 lobster biologists from 6 countries met in Perth to discuss and compare their work on lobster ecology, physiology, and management protocols, and to find common themes amongst the different species that were commercially fished. In recent years, participation has risen to roughly 150-200 people from 20 countries! As well as fascinating scientific presentations from all around the world, an industry day is also planned to be an important component of the program so we are looking forward to strong support from lobster industry participants. The timing of the workshop is the week following the World Fisheries Congress on 11-15 October 2020 in Adelaide, South Australia which provides an excellent opportunity to attend two world-class events during your visit to Australia if you're travelling from afar. Find out more at the website and make sure you join the mailing list to stay up to date. Further content will be added regularly so remember to check in! #icwl2020 https://icwl2020.com.au/ Fisheries WA Western Australian Fishing Industry
