Were delighted have internationally-renowned artists and designers David Bielander and Helen Britton join us for Making: A Living? In this talk, the pair will be providing fascinating insight into how they have forged successful careers while juggling global practices as contemporary artists. Dont forget to grab your discounted tickets before its too late! $10 Students | $20 Members | $25 Standard ~~~~~~~ Munich-based artist and jeweller David Bielander was apprenticed to a goldsmith in his native Basel and worked for jeweller and industrial designer Georg Spreng in Schwäbisch Gmünd, Germany, before studying for six years under Professor Otto Künzli at the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich. From 2006-10 he was Artistic Assistant to Professor Daniel Kruger, Academy of Fine Arts Burg Giebichenstein, Halle, Germany; since 2011 he has been an external consultant to the jewellery department, Gerrit Rietveld Academie in Amsterdam. He has received numerous awards, including the Munich Förderpreis (2009); Herbert Hofmann Prize (2010); the Françoise van den Bosch Prize (2012); and the Swiss Federal Design Prize (2012). His work is held in many public collections including the Fond National des Arts Contemporain, France, the CODA Museum, Apeldoorn, the Neue Sammlung, Munich and the National Gallery of Victoria. Helen Britton is a Munich and Australia based artist and jewellery designer. Britton received her MFA from Curtin University in Western Australia, and then studied under Otto Künzli at the Academy of Fine Arts, Munich. In 2002 she established her studio in Munich, and is currently Adjunct Professor at RMIT University in Melbourne. Her work is informed by her experience of the vast and layered history reflected in the built environment, as she meticulously constructs pieces using precious metals, glass, stones and occasional collected components. Brittons work has been the subject of major retrospectives at Lawrence Wilson Art Gallery (2017) and the Neues Museum in Nuremburg (2013). Her work continues to be exhibited internationally and is kept in the permanent collections of the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, National Gallery of Victoria in Melbourne and the Stedelijk Museum in Amsterdam. #MakingALiving | Artsource | Fremantle Biennale

14.01.2022 This weekend was our Christmas wind-up gathering and pin swap, kindly hosted by Melissa Cameron. It was great to all catch up and relax, and enjoy a tour of Melissa's amazing home studio! Thank you to everyone who came along and it was wonderful to see such a great participation in the pin-swap this year (please post any photos of your pins guys! I missed out on taking any). Thanks again to Melissa and everyone who organised the event. We hope everyone has a nice break and enjoyable Christmas time!
