24.01.2022 I just wanted to share this with everyone because Ive had a lot of Mums and colleagues talking about it recently. https://cdn.fbsbx.com//9-The-influence-of-the-Maxillary-Fr

23.01.2022 Body work certainly helps ........

22.01.2022 Governments, investors and the formula milk industry must all put babies first and play their part in upholding the #WHOCode in full #DontPushIt http://save.tc/oeoT30iCtE5

21.01.2022 I love this (quote) from Dr Jack Newman Possibly the most important aspect of breastfeeding a toddler is not the nutritional or immunologic benefits, important as they are. I believe the most important aspect of breastfeeding a toddler is the special relationship between child and his parent. Breastfeeding is a life-affirming act of love that repeats itself every time the child goes to the breast. This continues when the baby becomes a toddler. Anyone without prejudices, who...Continue reading

19.01.2022 So true. we really need to give the new family a chance to get to know each other

18.01.2022 It’s so disappointing that ADA has produced such a biased statement. The health professionals who see these families and their improved health outcomes were not consulted; the families who have lived the journey were not consulted and unless we change this statement, future families will suffer!! Please share

13.01.2022 For any Mummas with babies recovering from oral restrictions - this class is amazing!!! A lot of these little babies are wired and likewise the Mums are struggling with anxiety related to the experience. Ive seen the results and what a difference it makes to both Mum and baby! #tonguetie #relaxation #settling #wired #sympatheticnetvoussystem #infantsettling #sleep

13.01.2022 I just received this lovely testimonial from Shareen Lim at Sparkle Dental in Perth where I gave a talk on supporting families of infants with oral restrictions. Joanna shared her knowledge and experience working with tongue-tied babies and their families with a group of over forty health care professionals in Perth in August 2017. This group included lactation consultants, midwives, child health nurses, osteopaths and a physiotherapist, speech and feeding specialists and d...ental professionals. Joanna covered the identification of tongue and lip ties, the problems they contribute to, and what is involved in supporting dyads pre and post release. She also presented several case studies to demonstrate the holistic approach required beyond a simple frenectomy to achieve good outcomes for our patients. Whilst it was a diverse group, Joanna managed to pitch it at the right level to successfully engage the entire audience. The post course feedback received from participants was fantastic. All were in agreeance that it was a very mind opening and informative course. We are grateful to have had the opportunity to learn from Joannas unique and vast experience here in Perth. Everyone was so appreciative of Joannas generosity with her time and her sharing of presentation slides after the seminar. The afternoon stimulated lots of further discussion, networking and further collaboration to help these families. I would highly recommend Joanna for anyone else looking to further awareness of this issue and promote a team approach to care in their own community. Thank you Shareen

13.01.2022 I hear this so frequently from Mothers I see - their Paediatrician, GP, LC, MW etc says tongue tie is a fad .....are they LISTENING?

12.01.2022 Wow, what an honor to be part of sharing this incredible film!

11.01.2022 I wish I could see the Mothers before they give birth so they had a bit of an idea what to expect with breastfeeding. Sometimes they dont know what to ask for to help them achieve their goals. A bit of education would really help.

09.01.2022 Great information

09.01.2022 You are not alone! We are here to support you. IBCLCs can help any time you have questions about feeding your baby.

08.01.2022 Im often asked about co-sleeping and despite my belief that it is a biological norm, I dont know each familys circumstances and as an IBCLC Im supposed to talk about the back to sleep program. However, I do suggest that they educate themselves about safe co-sleeping and make their own decision rather than be doing it anyway - unsafely!! Dr James McKenna has written some great information in this article and also says: ......What I do recommend is to consider all of the possible choices and to become as informed as is possible matching what you learn with what you think can work the best for you and your family.
