24.01.2022 Having a blog is a great way to drive traffic to your website, but it isn't enough to just type out a few paragraphs about any old topic. Without going too deep into things that are probably going to take up time you don't have if you aren't outsourcing, and don't have a dedicated communications person on your team, here are three great blog topic options: 1. Answer a question that your support team is commonly asked. Go into detail and link to the blog from the product(s) it... relates to. 2. Cover an event that your target demographic is interested in. This one is great for getting exposure with your lookalike audience, just make sure that the event is actually relevant to your brand, product or service. 3. It may not seem all that important to have your audio and videos transcribed given how popular multimedia content is, but transcription is actually vital to the success of your business. Don't believe me, here's five reasons why:... Transcripts are the best way to ensure that your content is accessible to everyone. Transcribing your multimedia content can provide an SEO boost. Adding a written version of your content provides clarity - this is especially important if you don't have great audio quality. Transcribing your content allows you to add links far more easily than you can in videos (plus, you often can't add links to audio). Some people just prefer written content. 15.01.2022 If you've been told that loading up your text with the same words over and over again is a great way to rank listen up Keyword stuffing is NOT the way to go! Often referred to as a "black hat" SEO tactic, keyword stuffing is the process of cramming your text with as many instances of your preferred keyword as possible.... Generally done in a bid to reach the coveted top spot on Google and other search engines, this practice is probably one of the worst mistakes you could make. Not only will it not get you anywhere with the algorithm, it will also DESTROY your user experience. This can lead to lower rankings, angry customers, higher bounce rates and the other nasty things that business owners strive to avoid. Gone are the days where search engines decided what results to display based on how many times they mentioned their topic, and by focusing on trying to rank in this manner, you'll ruin the flow of your text. This doesn't benefit anyone. If you don't want your website ended up stuffed, focus on creating quality content rather than trying to rank. Or reach out to a specialist who can do this for you. 15.01.2022 Never forget the importance of balance. Growing your business is important and I'm not saying that you shouldn't work hard to achieve your dreams, but looking after yourself is just as important. You won't perform at your best if you're not taking the time to exercise and practice self-care, so make sure you block out some time just for you this coming week.... And if that means outsourcing or delaying certain aspects of your operations, do it. The cost of hiring a copywriter, brand manager or any other type of contractor is far less than you'll pay health-wise if you end up burnt out.

15.01.2022 So lovely, yet so scattered and distracting... Kind of like your brand will be if you don't have a clear vision. See, the fish in my tank can get away with being completely random and multicolored because, well, they're fish Unfortunately, it doesn't work that way for brands.... Very few can pull off the "I woke up like this" vibe that comes with throwing a bunch of random things at a canvas. And if you're not one of them, the lack of cohesive design is going to put off potential clients and partners. Not only does your copy need to be on point, it also needs to fit well with your site design and present everything you need to communicate in a way that's clear to clients. With socials you have a bit more freedom but you still want to have a plan that flows properly - notice how I tend to stick with colours that are dark and/or natural for my feed. It can be stressful trying to balance the fact that every tiny detail needs your attention and some things just won't work for you. This isn't something you need to feel bad about, but it is an issue that you need to address. If you feel like you could do with some assistance, my messages are always open. In most cases, the majority of social traffic can be considered organic engagement. But if you're running sponsored posts or social ads, you'll need to dig a bit deeper into your analytics to discover the specifics of your reach.... And if you've partnered up with another account for collaborations, you may not be able to tell at all. As a general rule, the easiest way to get a comprehensive view of where your social traffic has come from, is to compare the insights from that platform to your Google Analytics. 13.01.2022 How many more conversions would you get if you had four times your current amount of traffic? Over the past twelve months I've quadrupled both impressions and clicks for one of my clients, simply through posting useful blog content and tweaking their web copy. This was all done through SEO and not a single ad ran on any platform for the business during this time.... Now obviously I'm required by law to give you the spiel about how "results are not typical" but the thing is, by regularly engaging your audience and correctly targeting your copy, four times the amount of traffic is a very achievable amount. Google values when your content is useful to your demographic, so by meeting the needs of your existing viewers, you'll rank more favourably with search engines, which boosts your exposure and brings you more leads. Organic results like this don't happen overnight, and if anyone tells you they can get them in that timeframe, run for the hills. But they're certainly possible if you're willing to put in the work (or pay someone to do it for you). Start by working out what kind of content will best serve your audience and then perform your keyword research appropriately. From there, all you need to do is write your post, edit for clarity and add in your CTA.... Exactly how you go about this will depend on what you offer as well as your brand tone, but blogging can be as simple or complex as you would like it to be. Unfortunately, it's also one of the hardest questions to answer without diving into the client's analytics. As a general rule, B2C businesses will want to post when consumers are on their own time, and B2B businesses will want to put out content during business hours. These lines become blurred, however, if your target dem...ographic has any overlap and will be skewed based on the work arrangements of, and previous communications with, your audience. Because of this, the best time to post will vary for everyone. That's why you should look back at when you've gotten the best engagement / conversions and base your decision on that data. You don't need to do this every time you post, just make sure you factor in this info when you're creating your content calendar and make adjustments to each cycle based on how your analytics have changed.
