One of the biggest tasks when it comes to paperwork is bookkeeping and lodging your Business Activity Statement (BAS) each quarter.... If youre like most business owners, this will be one of your least favourite tasks!! Why use a bookkeeper? Doing your own bookkeeping and BAS lodgement isnt exactly the most difficult task in the world. It is time consuming however, and there is also the potential to make costing mistakes that could come back to bite you. By using JNP bookkeeping service you can save yourself a lot of time and also feel confident that a qualified professional is looking after you books. JNP offer additional services, such as bank reconciliations and even chasing up your unpaid invoices. These services can be extremely helpful for a busy subbie. How much does it cost? If you operate as a sole trader, which is the case for most subcontractors, the cost of using a bookkeeper can be very low. Prices start from around $150 per month for a sole trader with a low number of monthly transactions. If you have a high number of transactions, operate under a company or trust structure or employ a number of staff, you will find this price increases to around $250 to $550 per month. When you consider that doing the books and BAS could take you quite a few hours each month, paying a professional $150 a month is pretty good value. How does it work? The process for a subcontractor using JNP is really quite simple. All you need to do is bundle up all of your receipts and invoices each month and send them off to us or drop into our offices at 19 Dixon Rd Rockingham. We will then go through them and prepare a monthly or quarterly report, and will also prepare your BAS to be sent to the ATO. We will be able to work with your accountant, which will make the whole process much easier when it comes time to lodge your tax returns. 18.01.2022 2018 was a year of change for me. There was so many ups and downs. However I got through it with the help of so many friends and my family. I have the best kids anyone could ask for. Kate Fisher my daughter who is so strong. She has been there for me, she looks after her brothers, they are best of friends. At only 21 she has achieved so much already. Luke Fisher who is turning into such a well respected young man. He as changed so much this year. He also looks after his l...ittle bro who adores him so much. Beckham my youngest at 11 acts way above his age and always puts a smile on my face. My friends who have helped me achieve two major sporting goals this year. A half iron man and my 3rd Dan in taekwondo. I couldnt have done it without you all. To my work friends, your businesses are my businessed and I look forward to working with you all next year. My goals for next year include and in no order Loosing 10kgs Knocking 30mins of my half ironman time. Completing two sessions at least every week at tkd Doing a few wage mountain biking events Travelling away with tkd team Adding 5 new clients to my work. 13.01.2022 Employer super quick check Paying super is an important part of being an employer. Super provides income for your workers in retirement. Heres how to run a quick check of your super obligations to make sure youve got everything sorted.... Check youre paying super to all eligible workers. o Some contractors may be entitled to super. Check that youre paying the right amount. o Currently, you need to pay a minimum of 9.5% of their ordinary time earnings. Check youre paying on time. o It is tax deductible against your business income. o At a minimum, you can pay super quarterly. o If you fail to pay on time, you may need to pay a superannuation guarantee charge, which is not tax deductible. Check youre paying to the right place. o Pay super into your workers fund of choice. o If they havent given you the details, pay it into your default fund. Check that youre paying the right way. o Pay the SuperStream way send both the payment and data electronically in a standard format. o You may be able to use the free Small Business Super Clearing House to distribute payments to your employees super funds. 10.01.2022 To let everyone know that there is a major scam going on with someone calling and saying they are from the ato and have done a audit on your tax returns. Then they ask if you have a lawyer to defend you. When I asked for my tax file number they gave a number and when I said it wasnt they hung up. Please do not give anyone your personal details or pay anything until you have your bas agent or accountant check it out. They are good and would have fulled someone who wasnt sure of what they where talking about.
